    The Effectiveness of Bibliotherapy on Improving Satisfaction with Body Image and Reducing Cognitive Biases among a Sample of Female Adolescents

    The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bibliotherapy in improving body image and reducing cognitive biases in a sample of adolescent girls. The study sample consisted of 30 female students, who were randomly assigned to two groups. To achieve the study\u27s objectives, two scales were used to measure satisfaction with body image and cognitive biases, alongside a student\u27s bibliotherapy manual. The results showed an improvement in body image post-test scores among the experimental group compared to the control group. The results also indicated that cognitive biases post-test scores in the experimental group decreased from a high level to a moderate level. Finally, the results revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between body image follow-up and post-test scores, while there were statistically significant differences between cognitive biases follow-up and post-test scores

    Background: severely damaged primary anterior teeth that require pulp therapy present a high-risk of failure due to the loss of tooth substance resulting from pre-existing decay and endodontic therapy itself. The ideal post material should have physical and mechanical properties that are similar to those of dentin . Another concern in restoring endodontically treated primary teeth is the need to find a material that can resorb in a similar way to natural tooth structure as a part of the exfoliation process allowing normal eruption of permanent successors . Accordingly there is no such material other than dentine itself.The introduction of Biological dentine posts offered an excellent alternative for restoring such teeth. The aim of the current study was to assess the effect of using dentine posts on the Pull Out resistance of endodontically treated primary anterior teeth in comparison to composite posts. Materials and methods: A sample of 30 primary anterior teeth was collected from the outpatient clinic of Pediatric Dentistry Department, Faculty of Dentistry,Damascus University. 15 freshly extracted permanent teeth with single root were also collected from the outpatient clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Faculty of Dentistry,Damascus. University. The roots of the permanent teeth were used to prepare 30 dentine posts using CAD-CAM machine. After receiving proper endodontic treatment, the primary teeth were divided into two groups (15 teeth in each group). The first group was restored with dentine posts, and the second group was restored with composite posts 3 mm in length for both groups. Pull Out resistance testing was performed using Testometric machine. Results: The results were recorded.descriptive statistics were performed and the data were analyzed at 95% confidence interval using independent t-student test. There were no statistically significant differences in Pull Out resistance between the two groups. But Dentin posts showed increased in Pull Out resistance (156,7) N more than composite posts (149,7) N. Conclusion: Dentin posts showed increased in Pull Out resistance (156,7) N more than composite posts (149,7) N. Therefore, the use of dentin posts as intra-canal retention in primary anterior teeth is a successful alternative for composite posts

    هدف المقال التعرُّف على مهارة معلمي المدارس الحكومية في تعزيز الاستيعاب البصري للمفاهيم الجغرافيّة لدى طلبة المدارس الحكومية في ديرعلا من وجهة نظر معلمين الجغرافية، من وجهة نظر المعلمين. إذ اتّبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفيّ التحليليّ، وتكوّنت عينة الدراسة من (276) معلمًا ومعلمةً، في المدارس الحكومية في لواء ديرعلا، واعتمدت الدراسة على أداة الاستبانة، وتمّ استخدام برنامج الحزمة الإحصائية (spss)؛ لتحليل نتائج الدراسة. وخلُصَت النتائج إلى أنّ مهارة استخلاص المعاني من الشكل البصري حصل على أعلى درجة، ثمّ أوصت الدراسة على ضرورة العمل على تحسين، وتطوير مهارة إدراك، وتفسير الغموض في الشكل البصري، لتعليم المفاهيم الجغرافية، وتعزيز مهارة ربط العلاقات بالشكل البصري لدى المعلمين، وذلك من خلال إشراكهم في دورات متخصصة تحت إشراف مختصين؛ لتنفيذ برامج عمل من شأنها تطوير مهاراتهم The article aimed to identify the skill of public school teachers in enhancing visual comprehension of geographical concepts among public school students in Deir Alla from the point of view of teachers of geography, from the point of view of teachers. Public schools in Deir Alla district, the study relied on the questionnaire tool, and the statistical package program (spss) was used. To analyze the results of the study. The results concluded that the skill of extracting meanings from the visual form obtained the highest degree, then the study recommended the need to work on improving and developing the skill of understanding and interpreting the ambiguity in the visual form, to teach geographical concepts, and to enhance the skill of linking relationships with the visual form for teachers, through Involve them in specialized courses under the supervision of specialists; To implement work programs that will develop their skill

    هدفت الدراسة التعرف على درجة امتلاك طلبة المرحلة الثانوية العامة في الأردن لمهارات التعلم المنظم ذاتيًّا خلال استخدام التعليم الإلكتروني، وكذلك التعرف على القدرة التنبؤية للتعلم المنظم ذاتيًّا على التحصيل الأكاديمي لديهم، واستخدام المنهج الوصفي الارتباطي لتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، التي اجريت على عينة من طلبة المرحلة الثانوية العامة في لواء الجامعة في العاصمة عمان في الأردن وعددها (327) وقد أجريت الدراسة في العام الدراسي 2022، وقد بينت النتائج أن درجة امتلاك طلبة الثانوية العامة لمهارات التعلم المنظم ذاتياً مرتفعة بشكل عام، وقد احتل بعد وضع الاهدف والتخطيط على المرتبة الأولى ومن ثم طلب المساعدة الاجتماعية، ومن ثم التسميع والحفظ واخيراً الاحتفاظ بالسجلات والمراقبة، وقد أظهرت نتائج تحليل الانحدار الخطي وجود قدرة للتعلم المنظم ذاتيًّا بالتنبؤ بالتحصيل الأكاديمي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية، وأن مقدار تأثير التعلم المنظم ذاتيًّا بالتنبؤ بالتحصيل الأكاديمي مرتفع، وقد أوصت الدراسة على ضرورة لاهتمام بالتعلم المنظم ذاتيًّا من قِبل القائمين على العملية التعليمية The study aimed to identify the degree of possession of self-regulated learning skills by high school students in Jordan through the use of e-learning, as well as to identify the predictive ability of self-regulated learning on their academic achievement, and to use the descriptive-relational approach to achieve the objectives of the study, which was conducted on a sample of stage students. The general secondary school district in the university district in the capital, Amman, Jordan, number (327). The study was conducted in the academic year 2022, and the results showed that the degree of high school students’ possession of self-regulated learning skills is generally high, and after setting goals and planning, it ranked first and then Requesting social assistance, then recitation, memorization, and finally keeping records and monitoring. The results of the linear regression analysis showed that self-regulated learning has the ability to predict academic achievement among secondary school students, and that the effect of self-regulated learning in predicting academic achievement is high.     هدفت الدراسة إلى بيان التأثيرات المستقبلية للتقنيات الحديثة، في طرق التدريس، في المدارس الحكوميّة، في العاصمة الأردنية عمّان، وتم اتباع المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وتمّ اعتماد الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات، وتكون مجتمع الدراسة من المعلمين، وبلغ حجمه (685) معلّمًا، ومعلّمة، وتم أخذ العينة بالطريقة العشوائيّة اعتمادًا على جدول مورغان، حيث بلغ حجم العينة(260) معلمًا، ومعلمةً، وتمّ توزيع أداة الدراسة (الاستبانة) بالطريقة الإلكترونيّة، وتمّ استخدام برنامج الحزمة الإحصائي (SPSS)؛ لتحليل بيانات الدراسة. وتوصّلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج أهمّها: إنّ التأثيرات المستقبلية للتقنيات الحديثة، في طرق التدريس، في المدارس الحكومية، في العاصمة الأردنية عمّان، حصلت على درجة أهمية مرتفعة بلغت(3.88)، ولا يوجد فروق دالة إحصائيًّا في فقرات التقنيات الحديثة في ضوء متغيرات: الجنس، والمؤهل العلمي، وسنوات الخبرة، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيًّا في فقرات التقنيات الحديثة، في ضوء متغير العمر. وأوصت الدراسة بمجموعة من التوصيات أبرزها: العمل على تطبيق التقنيات الحديثة في جميع المناهج المدرسيّة، والتركيز على نموّ المعرفة لدى التلاميذ، وذلك من خلال إجراء اختبارات تقيس درجة نموّ المعرفة لديهم، ومدى تفاعلهم معها، وتوضيح مدى أهميّة استخدام التقنيات الحديثة في العمليّة التعليميّة. The study aimed to demonstrate the future impacts of modern technologies on teaching methods in government schools in Amman. The descriptive analytical approach was followed, and the questionnaire was adopted as a tool for collecting data. The study community consisted of teachers, and its size was (685) male and female teachers. The sample was taken randomly based on the Morgan table, where the sample size was (260) male and female teachers. The study tool (questionnaire) was distributed electronically, and the statistical package (SPSS) program was used to analyze the study data. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The future impacts of modern technologies on teaching methods in government schools in Amman, obtained a high importance score of (3.88), and there are no statistically significant differences in the paragraphs of modern technologies in light of the variables: gender, academic qualification, and years of experience, and there are statistically significant differences in the paragraphs of modern technologies in light of the age variable. The study recommended working on applying modern technologies in all school curricula, and focusing on the growth of knowledge among students, by conducting tests that measure the degree of their knowledge growth, the extent of their interaction with it, and clarifying the importance of using modern technologies in the educational process

    Rotating Burlap for Improved Solar Still Performance: An Experimental Investigation

    This experimental study investigates the performance of a modified solar still that utilizes a rotating burlap cloth to enhance water evaporation and productivity. Conducted in Tanta, Egypt within a hot desert climate, the system was designed with a 31° angle to maximize solar energy absorption. A 12V DC motor was employed to maintain continuous rotation of the burlap, ensuring consistent contact with the water surface and promoting enhanced evaporation. The modified system achieved a peak water temperature of 89.4°C, resulting in a total water output of 1.547 liters per day, which translates to 4.56 liters per square meter per day—an improvement of 14% compared to conventional solar stills. With an efficiency of 44.7%, the system performed at high levels relative to typical solar stills, which generally operate within the range of 30%–50%. In hot summer months in the same region, where ambient temperatures can reach 40°C, the system\u27s productivity could increase to 6 liters per square meter per day, reflecting a potential 30% enhancement over conventional designs. This innovative approach combines relatively low cost with high productivity, offering a practical solution for solar desalination. The findings demonstrate that this design represents one of the most efficient and cost-effective systems for water production in Hot desert climates (BWh), capable of providing significant water output under optimal conditions

    Techniques for Controlling Saltwater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers

    Groundwater is a significant freshwater source due to rising water demand for agriculture, industry, rapid population growth, and home usage; however, coastal groundwater is at risk of pollution from seawater intrusion due to intensive pumping. Heavy extraction of groundwater to meet rising demands has resulted in lower groundwater tables and less seaward freshwater flow. As a result, saltwater spreads further inland, threatening fresh groundwater supplies. Saltwater intrusion refers to the introduction of saltwater into an aquifer system. Around the world, there are several coastal and deltaic regions in which seawater intrusion occurs. Underground water supplies are made worthless when seawater flows inland to production wells. The most frequent cause of contamination in coastal aquifers is seawater intrusion. In order to safeguard the resources of groundwater in coastal aquifers, a variety of techniques have been employed to mitigate saltwater intrusion. A brief amount of research has focused on preventing seawater intrusion to safeguard coastal areas\u27 groundwater supplies. To manage coastal aquifers and mitigate seawater intrusion, withdrawal procedures must be carefully planned. Thus, it is vital to effectively manage seawater intrusion to prevent the depletion of groundwater supplies. New techniques for controlling seawater intrusion are given and discussed in detail. The SEAWAT code was used here to investigate the effectiveness of different controlling techniques to mitigate seawater intrusion. The outcomes of this research can be implemented to achieve sustainable development of groundwater resources in coastal aquifers

    Evaluating LiDAR Technology in iPhone Mobiles for 2D Mapping Applications

    Abstract- LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology has revolutionized mapping applications, offering enhanced precision and accuracy in spatial data collection. The integration of LiDAR technology in the latest iPhone models, beginning with the iPhone 12 Pro, has introduced new capabilities for 2D data measurement and plan creation directly on the mobile device. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max models support LiDAR techniques within their mobile phone cameras, enhancing the performance of various applications such as Measurements and Photos. LiDAR operates by emitting pulsed light waves into the surrounding space, which bounce off nearby objects and return to the sensor, enabling the phone to calculate the distance traveled by each pulse and map the surrounding features. In this investigation, the LiDAR feature in the iPhone 12 Pro Max was utilized to measure the 2D floor plan of a small building. Interior scanning was conducted by moving the iPhone around the space approximately 3 to 6 meters away from the walls. The same building was surveyed again using a precise Leica total station instrument to obtain the coordinates of the partition corners. The iPhone LiDAR scanner requires only 4 minutes compared to the 2-hour total station survey mission time. The point cloud data from the iPhone LiDAR scan was exported and processed to generate a 2D floor plan, which was subsequently compared to the plan derived from the total station measurements. The comparison revealed that the iPhone LiDAR provided satisfactory horizontal measurements, displaying root mean square errors of ± 0.08 meters for side lengths and ± 0.28 square meters for areas. Minor differences were observed in the measured angles, with a root mean square error of ± 2.02 degrees.     Dwellings Occupant Behaviour and Electric Heating Consumption: Sensitivity Analysis and Potential Savings

    A building\u27s heating consumption is affected by a lot of things, including the weather, the building\u27s envelope, and the heating system. Furthermore, a crucial component impacting dwelling electrical consumption is the behaviour of occupants. Analysing the impact of occupant behaviour on electric heating consumption in dwellings located in temperate oceanic climates is the focus of this study. By surveying the existing literature on the topics of building energy simulation and occupant behaviour, this study was able to determine the strengths and weaknesses of earlier investigations, as well as the research technique. A case study of a semi-detached house in Galway, Ireland, is used to apply the methodology, which includes building energy modelling, sensitivity analysis using the Standardized Regression Coefficient, and estimates of energy savings. The study\u27s overarching goal is to use DesignBuilder to investigate occupant-related situations and evaluate prospects for energy savings. According to the sensitivity analysis, the main parameters that affect electric heating usage are the number of occupants and the heating setpoint temperature. Next on the list are variables like level of activity, gender, and winter clothing. In addition, studies on energy saving have shown that living with two people instead of five might save electric heating use by 18% at a setpoint of 19° without affecting thermal comfort. Additional occupant behaviour factors and scenarios should be investigated in futuristic studies

    The Role of Kindergarten Directors in Zarqa Governorate in Achieving Professional Development for Female Teachers and its Relationship to Job Performance

    The study aimed to identify the role of kindergarten principals in Zarqa Governorate in achieving the professional development of female teachers and its relationship to job performance. A study sample was selected from the study population using simple random sampling to ensure that the sample represents the community from which it was drawn, consisting of a total of 222 individuals, including 58 principals and 164 teachers. Two questionnaires were used to collect the necessary data to achieve the study\u27s objectives. The first was to measure the role of kindergarten directors in Zarqa Governorate in achieving the professional development of teachers, while the second was to measure the level of job performance. The results showed that the level of job performance among kindergarten teachers was found to be high, and there was a positive, moderate, statistically significant correlation at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the role of kindergarten principals in achieving the professional development of female teachers and the level of their job performance. The study recommends enhancing the role of kindergarten principals in the professional development of female teachers
