Aesthetics of Body Language in Metaphorical Image in the Collection of Arab Poetry

    No full text
This study sheds light on body language in the formation of metaphorical images in Arab collection poetry. It also explores body expression and its role in shaping metaphorical images, as well as its ability to influence and persuade beyond spoken language. The research highlights the phenomenon of body language from a theoretical perspective, using selective samples of Arab collection poetry through sensory, descriptive, and dramatic situations. Additionally, the study examines the body’s capacity to inspire and motivate poets to describe this language and incorporate it into metaphorical images. The analysis reveals that body language, or unspoken language, constitutes a phenomenon in the construction of metaphorical images. Poets relied on body language to clarify the metaphorical image and to express what is stirring within their souls. Sometimes, the poet wishes to express something, but words fail to convey their intention. In such cases, the poet resorts to body language to compensate for the shortcomings of spoken language. Additionally, the use of body language in metaphor has increased its clarity and made it more accessible to the minds

    No full text
This study aims to assess the satisfaction of Jordan Phosphate Mines Company workers with the Social Security Corporation. The study employed a social survey approach. The population consisted of all Jordan Phosphate Mines Company workers who are subscribers to the Jordanian Social Security. A stratified random sample was employed based on the variable of occupation type. A questionnaire served as the primary data collection tool and was distributed to a random sample of 151 workers at the Phosphate Mines Company. The findings indicated a moderate level of satisfaction with the Jordanian Social Security Corporation, with a mean of 3.29 and a standard deviation of 0.56. The highest level of satisfaction was related to the factor of Covering social risks, which was reflected in the item Having supporting parties for social security. Conversely, the lowest satisfaction was associated with the Subscription factor, particularly concerning the desire to withdraw from social security if given the opportunity. The study also revealed that there were no significant differences at the (α ≤ 0.05) level in satisfaction based on variables such as gender, age, subscription period in social security, or educational level. However, significant differences were found concerning occupation type, favoring administrators over technicians

An Exceptive Account of ‘Unless’ Clauses: Corpus Evidence

    No full text
This paper provides corpus evidence to demonstrate that ‘unless’ clauses function like exceptive constructions (ECs). It adopts Galal et al. (2019) classification of ECs into two categories: paradigmatic ECs (connected/regular exceptive) and hypotactic ECs (free exceptive). The current analysis applies this classification to ‘unless’ clauses to examine their behavior. Corpus evidence shows that unless clauses consistently occupy a fixed position relative to their antecedent, similar to paradigmatic ECs. However, the two constructions differ in that ‘unless’ clauses occur before the antecedent regardless of the position of the consequent (the statement), whereas paradigmatic ECs occur after the antecedent. Additionally, unless allows both universal and non-universal quantifiers, with universal quantifiers being more commonly used. Regarding coordinating sequences, ‘unless’ accepts coordination similar to hypotactic ECs. Some statistical analyses of the use of ‘unless’ conditionals in two native corpora—the Contemporary Corpus of American English (COCA) and the British National Corpus (BNC)—are presented. These analyses show that ‘unless’ is more frequently used in BNC, suggesting a characteristic of British English. Results demonstrate that this construction is more common in the written proportions of COCA, whereas it is more frequently used in the spoken portions of BNC. ‘Unless’ conditionals are more often used with a free verb in the from-combination and are rarely used with Types II and III (counterfactuals), supporting the notion that unless does not typically occur with counterfactuals

Exploring the Role of Localized Indigenous Knowledge in Developing Urban Water Resilience and Sustainability Strategies in Egypt

    No full text
Urban areas worldwide face water challenges due to population growth, climate change, and inadequate construction. To tackle these issues, cities are experimenting with green infrastructure, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater recycling, integrating local data and sustainable construction methods to mitigate water scarcity and increase resilience. This paper discusses using natural data in urban water management to tackle water scarcity, flooding, and quality issues. It suggests that this data can improve urban practicality and human well-being by addressing shared urban areas and the physical environment. Implementing natural enhancements like water harvesting, floodplain management, and shared filtration systems can enhance water quality and resilience. This approach improves residents\u27 quality of life and creates sustainable, resilient urban environments for future generations. The paper seeks coordination and collaboration with global organizations and governments to develop and manage climate change actions using innate water data. Local water data can help address urban water issues by finding missing standards and highlighting clear frameworks, thereby addressing broader urban water challenges by promoting climate-positive adaptation and mitigation approaches and engaging with global organizations

Documenting the Visual Urban Identity in Damanhur’s Historic Core

    No full text
Developing countries have created a rich weaving of cultural, architectural, and urban narratives into historic Egyptian cities. However, their spatial and visual identities are seriously threatened by the fast urbanization. This study presents a documentation-based framework for examining the visual urban identity of Damanhur, a historic city in El-Behira, Egypt. By integrating historical research, architectural observation, quantitative façade analysis and digital coding techniques using QDA Miner Lite, the study develops a methodological approach for evaluating and conserving urban character. The results emphasize how landmarks, cultural narratives, and spatial continuity contribute to the formation of the city\u27s identity. This framework provides useful insights for sustainable urban planning and heritage conservation in changing urban environments, in addition to advancing architectural heritage understanding in historic metropolises

    No full text
Establishing a school climate that is conducive to learning and favorable to the achievement and well-being of all is the major challenge that Moroccan schools are trying to take up, even though many structural, cultural, pedagogical and institutional biases persist. Ensuring the well-being of everyone within the school organization is a collegial approach requiring the involvement of all educational stakeholders in a positive synergy that allows students to learn together in better conditions and to prepare them to live in society with respect for others and tolerance for differences. The school as a space of socialization works towards the emergence of a school climate where it is pleasant to live and to learn. Hence the interest in clarifying this notion of school climate, which is the subject of this paper

La traduction littéraire entre éthique et critique

The responsibility that derives from translating is not only a responsibility linked to the practice of translation as a profession, but a responsibility towards intercultural exchange. Recent translation studies, particularly in Europe and North America, have focused on the author of the source, the translator (whom we prefer to call the second author), the editor and finally the reader. Indeed, translation should be conceived as two connection situations: one is interlinguistic, the other is intercultural. The letter in a literary work is a web, delicately woven of several domains, knowledge and factors; translating this sublime production into another language supposes that the translator/author is aware of the colossal task he/she will face. Translation is now perceived as an act of writing that reveals cultures and differences by bringing two or more languages into contact. Our paper will deal with literary translation in this critical/ethical duality when translating idioms from Arabic into French. The objective is to analyze the possible options facing translation difficulties when cultures are interlaced

Design et intelligence artificielle : esquisse d’une logique de créativité générative artificielle

    Get PDF
This article questions the creative process in design compared with that of generative artificial intelligence (GAI), and attempts to define a relationship between creative and generative logic. As a result, a resonance between the design mindset and AGI is identified, thanks to the poetics and use of the design toolbox borrowed to GAI . Creative cogeneration reconciles human and machine. But the logic of artificial imagination led to question the future of the designer\u27s profession and calls for a mandatory updating of the designer\u27s profile
