A Mixed-Method Study Comparing Staff Nurse and Nurse Manager Perceptions of Fairness related to Scheduling, Self-Scheduling, and Scheduling Incentives as Motivators
Understanding and addressing the perception of fairness in scheduling and incentives lets the healthcare system administration tailor scheduling needs to the staff nurses, thereby creating an environment that improves job satisfaction, work-life balance, and increased retention. This study was a mixed-method research project using questionnaires to compare what motivated registered nurses to work according to the nurse’s perception and the nurse manager’s perception of fairness in scheduling, self-scheduling, and incentives. The findings from this study indicated staff registered nurses and nurse managers had similar responses, however, comments highlighted the importance of fairness as it relates to job satisfaction. Healthcare systems need to ensure consistency and fairness in scheduling processes, and continually evaluate the perceptions of their staff
Students of Color Perceptions of Their Relationship with White Teachers
As the student population across the country becomes more diverse (Bryant et al., 2017) and the teacher population remains relatively consistent with little diversity (NCES, 2013), a better understanding of how male students of color are perceived, interact and relate with their White teachers become necessary to ensure their academic success. The purpose of this study is to study the perceptions male students of color have of their White teachers. The following research questions are utilized to explore the lived experiences of 10 high school male students of color in Northwest Arkansas: (1) How do high school male students of color describe their relationships with their White teachers? (2) How do high school male students of color describe their experiences with their White teachers? (3) According to high school male students of color, how can White teachers best serve them? The purpose of the qualitative methods approach is to reveal and comprehend occurrences in a given context without attempting to infer causality (Edmonds & Kennedy, 2013). The 10 participants were interviewed and each was asked to share an artifact that relates to their lived experiences as a high school male student of color. The findings of this study are noteworthy because they have the potential to affect teacher education and training, as well as teacher recruitment, as well as increase intrinsic motivation and functionality in students.

Teachers’ Perceptions on the Implementation of Professional Learning Communities and the Relationship to Student Achievement
For decades, mandates have driven the way we educate our students. Seemingly ever since the inception of No Child Left Behind (NCLB), schools across the nation have struggled to meet federal standards for student success. However, when many schools still failed to show a significant amount of achievement, they became labeled Priority or Focus schools under the federally mandated laws of NCLB. The vital need to promote best educational practices leads to the educational strategy of teacher collaboration. Research calls for higher levels of teacher collaboration in the educational setting as a strategy to address lackluster performance trends (Anrig, 2015). One form of collaboration that has been trending for decades is a strategy called Professional Learning Communities. Carpenter (2015) stated school improvement and student achievement have been positively connected to teacher professional learning communities (p. 682). This study explored the relationship between teachers’ perceptions on the implementation of professional learning communities and student achievement. Other dependent variables such as gender, number of years teaching experience in the district, number of years teaching experience total and content matter were also analyzed to determine if these variables play a factor in teacher’s perceptions on the implementation of professional learning communities. A cross-sectional survey design was utilized, and the participants were administered the PLCA-R survey created by Hipp & Huffman (2010). Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used to answer the research questions. Data analysis revealed several statistical significances between the listed dependent variables and various dimensions and attributes. However, a relationship between student achievement and professional learning communities could not be concluded at this time due to the selected high school not functioning as a professional learning community. Recommendations were made for ways the selected high school could strengthen their professional learning communities\u27 implementation
Telemedicine Patient Satisfaction Dimensions Moderated by Patient Demographics
Background: A multi-dimensional telemedicine patient satisfaction measure is utilized to provide managerial insights into where service improvements are needed and factors that impact patient service perceptions. This research explores the influence of patient demographics on telemedicine satisfaction. Four dimensions of telemedicine patient satisfaction (health benefits, patient-centered care, monetary costs, and non-monetary costs) were compared across patient gender, income, and education levels. Methods: A survey of 440 US telemedicine patients on patient satisfaction was measured with Likert scale items to create a multi-dimensional construct using the SERVQUAL model. MANOVA, ANOVA, and linear contrasts were used to examine the impact of patient demographics on telemedicine satisfaction dimensions. Results: The findings revealed that patient demographic characteristics moderated various dimensions of their telemedicine experience satisfaction. Satisfaction with telemedicine health benefits was moderated by patient gender and income levels. Patient-centered care was moderated by patient gender, income, and education levels. Satisfaction with the monetary cost of telemedicine was associated with patient gender and education level. Patient education level influenced their satisfaction with telemedicine non-monetary costs. Discussion: Notable trends include generally higher patient satisfaction for women and those with lower education levels. Patient income showed mixed trends regarding the four dimensions of patient satisfaction. Improvements in patient health literacy along with customized services may improve telemedicine patient care satisfaction and health outcomes. Conclusions: Measuring telemedicine patient satisfaction with a multi-dimensional assessment tool provides insights into how patient demographics influence perceptions of services received. The findings highlighted perceptions of telemedicine patient satisfaction dimensions that differed across patient demographics and provided insights into their overall impact on telemedicine patient satisfaction
Factors Influencing Customer Decisions to Use Online Food Delivery Service During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Despite the popularity of online food delivery systems in the foodservice industry, there have been few studies into customers’ decision-making process to use online food delivery services during the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. This study applied the technology acceptance model (TAM) to examine the factors affecting customers’ intention to use online food delivery services. Results showed (a) the perceived usefulness affects customer’s online food delivery usage directly and indirectly through customer attitude; (b) enjoyment and trust are also key factors determining behavior intention toward customer attitude using online food delivery services; (c) positive relationship between social influence and customer attitude; and (d) a positive relationship between customer attitude and behavior intention in the online food delivery service context. These findings provide theoretical and managerial implications that contribute to the online food delivery service industry
SMART-A Prototype Design for Sustainable Method of Agriculture Using Root Transition
The rapid increase in global population along with urbanization will continue to increase the challenge of food security and environmental sustainability. Agriculture is essential for food security, however, is an expensive process both financially and environmentally. Estimation of crop performance before investing in field would substantially benefit agricultural output and environmental sustainability. A simple, easy to use, portable, and inexpensive prototype of a device is described that can be successfully used to estimate plant performance and help tailor fertilizer formulations and microbial consortium for optimal agronomic output. The device can also be used for agriculture by farmers and for plant research by students and scientists

Home Health Workplace Safety During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-Sectional Descriptive Analysis of Home Health Agencies in Arkansas
Abstract
Workplace safety is a continual concern for home healthcare workers that provide medical care in a patient’s home environment. Healthcare workers, such as registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing aides, make up the largest group of home care providers. Before the COVID-19 Pandemic, home healthcare providers had to navigate job safety issues related to clutter in the home, unsanitary conditions, pest infestations, fumes, pets, and aggressive family members (Gershon et al., 2008). The pandemic brought about additional safety concerns, such as the implementation of isolation policies and limited supplies of personal protective equipment, to name a few. This cross-sectional descriptive analysis of home health agencies in Arkansas aimed to identify workplace safety issues experienced by home healthcare workers. A convenience sample of (N=14) of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and home health aides were recruited from home health agencies in Central and South Arkansas. Participants completed a 25-question survey that assessed home healthcare providers’ workplace safety issues. Conclusively, the Home Healthcare Workplace Safety During the Covid-19 Pandemic Survey confirmed that home healthcare nurses and aides do experience significant workplace safety issues while providing care during the Covid-19 Pandemic. These safety issues are present despite positive findings related to worker satisfaction with the administrative structure and process of the employing agency and managers.

The Impact of the Science of Reading Training on the NWEA MAP Test Scores of African American Students in a Central Arkansas School District

THE IMPACT OF THE SCIENCE OF READING TRAINING ON THE NWEA MAP TEST SCORES OF ELEMENTARY AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS IN A CENTRAL ARKANSAS SCHOOL DISTRICT

The state of Arkansas adopted ACT 1063 in 2017, which was designed to improve reading achievement for all students. Included in the law was the requirement that “curriculum programs that are supported by the science of reading and based on instruction that is explicit, systematic, cumulative, and diagnostic be implemented (Division of Elementary and Secondary Education, 2020). All K12 teachers and administrators, as well as higher education institutions, were required to participate in the Science of Reading Training. While many states have also adopted these practices, scientifically based reading research has yet to fully transform instructional practice (Castles et al., 2018), thereby leaving a science-to-practice gap. This gap has proven challenging to close for African American students (Seidenberg, 2017). In this quantitative, causal-comparative research study the researcher examined if the Science of Reading Training was effective in improving the reading achievement scores of African American students on the NWEA MAP Test in grades 1, 2, and 3 in Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III schools in a Central Arkansas School District. A sample of 2,086 first, second, and third-grade students enrolled in an urban Arkansas public school district during the 2020-2021 school year was included in the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and independent samples t-test. The findings from the study indicated the Science of Reading Training did not make a statistically significant difference on the NWEA MAP Test for the African American students in this sample. The information obtained in this study can be instructive for educators in the beginning stages of implementation of the science of reading.
