Growing Up and the Emotions That Come With It
No full textMany people roll their eyes when asked to read a twenty-plus page article and pull out key facts. They also usually do not pull out relatable emotions, but only information. When reading, though, whether poems or short stories, people do not mind the task because they get much more out of it. They walk away with feelings – ones they know from previous, personal experience, and also new ones which relate to the writer’s own story.
My work is an examination of stories of my past that have shaped me into who I am today. The stories are told from the heart – memories strong enough to stand the measure of time. The poems are to reflect the emotions I held. Some of the feelings resurfacing for the first time since, and some of them ones I have felt for what seems like for way too long now. My work is how I process these feelings.

You are human. Emotions are real – good, bad, ugly, sweet. You are stronger than you know, and you can handle when it seems like the world has put too much on your plate. I hope to inspire you to face your life head-on. Take the emotions and feelings as they come. Reflect on your life. Do not process to forget, but process to grow
Residence Camps for Youth with Physical Disabilities
No full textA residence camp consists of a facility or campsite that is utilized for the purpose of camping, requires an overnight stay, and is a popular summertime commodity. Youth with disabilities can benefit from residence camps because it allows them to have a sense of belonging while being surrounded by nature and varying aspects of inclusion. The programming at residence camps for youth with disabilities can consist of indoor or outdoor activities, designed and modified to accommodate the needs of individuals to enjoy and feel included.
The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions of youth with disabilities at summer camps. Typically, campers spend the entire week at camp where they can experience the therapeutic value of community, social acceptance (SA) among their peers, and participate in recreationally-based activities that implement skills, which can be used in their everyday life. The research provided correlates three journal articles that were published between the years 2006 and 2020. The articles examined the same topic, residence camps for youths with disabilities, and two of the three articles (2006, 2015) provided qualitative analysis through semi-structured (phone) interview guides and sample questions to gather data from participants following their stay at a summer residence camp
Organs in Colonial New England Puritan Churches

One such doctrine is the outlawing of instruments in public worship. However, it took only about 150 years for such anti-instrument sentiments to shift towards acceptance. The reinstatement of organs in Puritan Churches seems to follow trends of increased religious tolerance caused by both theological and social developments. This paper relates organs to tolerance through examination of theological and musical documents from 17th and 18th century Puritans. This research provides a lens for examining today\u27s church worship doctrines through the context of historical trends
China\u27s Public Diplomacy Philosophy
Get PDFChina has become a giant in the globalized world in such a short period of time. This led me to the research question, “What is China’s public diplomacy philosophy?” Using a textual analysis of major geopolitical events that China is involved in (The Belt and Road Initiative, the South China Sea dispute, Uyghur imprisonment, and the Hong Kong government takeover) and the history of China since the Chinese Civil War, it becomes apparent that the country uses the concept of hard and soft power for its public diplomacy. If a country is not receptive to China or its intended actions, then China responds with big-stick diplomacy and forceful intimidation. If a country is willing to cooperate with China in its ventures, which are usually countries that are not considered prominent in geopolitical affairs, then China responds with intimidation through monetary and social persuasion. This is a derivative project; it creates no new knowledge of its own but connects the dots of existing knowledge in ways that illuminate China’s geopolitics
Natural Disaster Preparedness Levels Among Firefighters
Get PDFABSTRACT: The primary problem is the lack of information of the disaster preparedness within Hinesville and Liberty County, Georgia fire services. The purpose of this quantitative comparative study was to (a) establish and determine the current level of disaster preparedness and (b) analyze and compare the differences between Hinesville City Fire Services and Liberty County Fire Services located within the same region of Southeastern, Georgia. This research sought to benchmark the organizational level of disaster preparedness of two critical departments (City and County Fire Services) by measuring three key attributes (knowledge, skills and personal preparedness) for disasters.
The research collected data by using the Disaster Preparedness portion of the Disaster Preparedness Evaluation Tool (DPET) via a in person brief and survey. The DPET measurement tool produces scores for each organization and from that determines the overall organizational mean level for knowledge and skills regarding disaster preparedness. The differences in organizational preparedness will be observed and discussed across both City and County Fire Services. The hypothesis is that since Liberty County Fire Services established its first full time staff in 2020, the level of disaster preparedness of their department will have lower means scores comparative to City Fire Services. If the differences in organizational disaster preparedness is too small to reach statistical significance, then at the very least we will have enough data to achieve benchmarking. The goal is to benchmark the levels of disaster preparedness for both organizations, City and County Fire Services located in Hinesville and Liberty County, Georgia and determine which of the organizations are more prepared for a disaster. A recommendation for practice would be fire chiefs, city council members and the county emergency management director utilize the findings from this research to identify gaps. Future research for organizational disaster preparedness could include widening the research to other cities or counties in the local area to allow for comparison across additional fire stations in the region. This would allow the entire southeast region of Georgia to have a benchmark and better understanding of their organizations knowledge, skills, and preparedness for a disaster
Recent Developments in Hydrogen Fuel Cell-Powered Drones

In recent years, there has been a significant amount of research and development in hydrogen fuel cell powered drones, with several successful demonstrations and commercial deployments. This research provides a comprehensive review of the recent developments in hydrogen fuel cell technology for UAVs and the current state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell powered drones. The research first discusses the advantages of using hydrogen fuel cells in drones, such as higher energy density, longer flight time, and lower environmental impact. It then describes the key components of a hydrogen fuel cell system for UAVs, including the fuel cell stack, hydrogen storage and delivery system, and power management system. The research also discusses the challenges associated with using hydrogen fuel cells in drones, such as safety concerns, cost, and infrastructure requirements. The research then reviews several recent developments in the field, such as the development of lightweight and compact fuel cell systems and the integration of fuel cells with other power sources such as batteries and solar cells. The research also discusses several successful demonstrations and commercial deployments of hydrogen fuel cell powered drones, including applications in agriculture, surveying, and emergency response. In conclusion, the research highlights the significant potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology for powering drones and the need for further research and development to overcome the remaining challenges and enable widespread adoption of this technology
The Importance of Public/Private Partnerships for Supply Chain Success in Emergency Management
Get PDFDuring the global COVID-19 pandemic response health care related supply chain issues pulled the curtains back to expose a disjointed, mis-managed and fragile supply chain (Goldschmidt & Stasko, 2022). This disfunction eventually impacted billions of people globally and significantly extend the supply chain recovery from COVID-19. The perceived strength of our domestic supply chain was weakened by minimal collaboration between the federal government and the private sector, which manages the majority of supply chains, during the early days of the pandemic (Aday & Aday, 2020). Additionally, the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) was depleted due to many years of under-budgeting for supplies and the situation was not widely understood within the federal government, nor the public (Taddonio, 2020).
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is the federal agency behind the development of public private partnerships (PPP), was still managing recovery from multiple major events when the pandemic began. They were assigned oversight and management of the national COVID supply chain response. The FEMA staffing levels were far below what was required, and additional staffing could not be hired in a short period of time (GAO, 2022). When adding in varying global COVID governmental responses and unexpected lockdowns, the situation was a recipe for disaster (GAO-20-685T United States Government Accountability Office, 2020)

Opinions of ESL Preservice Teachers on Using Artificial Intelligence Language Models in Language Education
No full textThis chapter examined the opinion of 417 ESL preservice teachers regarding the use of AI language models in teaching and learning English language. The study found that most of the participants do not believe that AI language models could replace human teachers in ESL education, either now or in the future. However, it was found that there are some ethical, social, and cultural concerns related to the use of AI language models in language education. The concerns voiced by participants include the issue of the users\u27 privacy and ownership, the lack of social interaction, empathy, and communication, and the potential for cultural bias. The chapter also recommended that ESL educators should offer comprehensive training that addresses these concerns and develops critical thinking skills by emphasizing the significance of safeguarding users\u27 privacy and data, mitigating bias in AI models, clarifying intellectual property rights, ensuring reliable text generation, considering social and cultural implications, and promoting a balanced and ethical approach to using AI language models.https://orc.library.atu.edu/atu_faculty_books/1083/thumbnail.jp
