    Get PDF
Organizational scholars have often overlooked changes in employees’ perceptions of fairness regarding outcomes, procedures, and interactions at work. However, growing empirical evidence suggests significant temporal variability in justice perceptions. Despite the importance of this evidence, the mechanisms underlying changes in perceptions of leader fairness remain poorly understood. Scholars have called for theoretical models that explore the conditions under which fairness perceptions occur within individuals. This article aims to bridge the affective and justice literatures by proposing a model for understanding changes in fairness perceptions over time. It aims to contribute to the justice literature by clarifying how employees might adjust their perceptions of leader fairness through their situational affect. Additionally, it underscores the importance of leader gender in predicting change in employees’ perceived injustice of their leaders.Örgütsel araştırmacılar, çalışanların iş yerinde sonuçlar, prosedürler ve etkileşimlere ilişkin adalet algılarındaki değişimleri sıklıkla göz ardı etmişlerdir.

The aim of this study was to determine the freezability of ram semen with extenders containing mitoquinone or caffeic acid. Collected ram semen samples were pooled and divided into seven equal aliquots. Each aliquot was diluted with Tris-based extender according to control and antioxidant groups (Control, Mitoquinone (MitoQ) 100 nM, 150 nM, 200 nM; Caffeic Acid (CA) 50 µM, 100 µM, 150 µM). The postthaw spermatological, antioxidant parameters and OGG1/ROMO1 gene expression and methylation were evaluated. The CASA post-thaw motility of MitoQ200, CA100 and CA150 antioxidant groups were statistically higher than the control group (P0.05). Increasing doses of CA significantly elevated ROMO1 gene expression (P<0.05), with a notable difference observed between the lowest and highest doses. Based on the spermatological parameters gene expression and methylation levels obtained in the current study, it was determined that mitoquinone 200nM and caffeic acid 150 µM doses had a positive effect on the freezability of ram semen

Background Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are a group of diseases that develop as a result of primary or congenital malfunction of the immune system and progress with chronic and/or recurrent bacterial, fungal, protozoal and/or viral infections. In this study, we aimed to examine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on depression, anxiety levels and psychological resilience in patients with PID and to compare them with those in controls. Methods Seventy patients, aged 18-65 years, who were being followed up with a diagnosis of PID and 69 people as healthy control group, participated in our study. The participants were evaluated cross-sectionally once; sociodemographic data form, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA), and COVID-19 Evaluation form were administered to the participants. Results HAM-A and HAM-D scores were significantly higher in PID patients compared to controls (HAM-D: 5.5 vs. 3.0, p < 0.001; HAM-A: 6.0 vs. 4.0, p = 0.008). RSA was significantly lower in the patient group (RSA total: 122.5 vs. 136.0, p < 0.001), and pandemic-related risk perception was higher (PRPS: 33.9 vs. 28.3, p < 0.001). Sleep, appetite, and attention-related disturbances were also more common in the patient group. Multivariate regression analyses revealed that PID diagnosis was an independent predictor of increased depression severity (HAM-D), lower psychological resilience (RSA), and greater pandemic-related risk perception. Female sex was independently associated with higher anxiety severity (HAM-A). A personal psychiatric history and greater number of comorbidities were also significant predictors of psychological vulnerability, particularly in relation to depression and anxiety. Conclusion Given the observed associations between PID and increased levels of depression, anxiety, and reduced psychological resilience during the pandemic, clinicians may consider heightened vigilance for psychological symptoms in this population during times of public health crisis

Su örneklerinin karbonat içerikleri 0-1,123 me L-1, bikarbonat 4,580-12,17 me L-1, klor 0,240-2,110 me L-1 değerleri arasında belirlenmiştir. Magnezyum içeriklerinin 2,22-7,43 me L-1, potasyumun 0,02 -0,48 me L-1, sodyumun 0,01 1,05 me L-1 ve kalsiyum miktarının ise 1,39-4,27 me L-1 değerleri arasında değişim gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Most of the irrigation water required for agriculture in the study area is supplied by the Mustafakemalpaşa Stream. Determining the irrigation water quality of the stream is important in terms of irrigation. Therefore, determining the irrigation water quality is important in terms of irrigation. In the study conducted; irrigation water quality parameters of water samples taken seasonally from 6 different regions of Mustafakemalpaşa Stream were evaluated and irrigation water class was determined. pH, EC, CO3, HCO3, Cl, P, Na, K, Ca, Mg, B and heavy metal analyses were performed in water samples. SAR, %Na, MAR, RSC, KR and PI parameters of water samples were found by calculation. It was determined that pH values of Mustafakemalpaşa Stream varied between 7,78 and 8,96 and EC values varied between 458 and 953 µS cm-1. Carbonate contents of water samples were determined between 0 and 1,123 me L-1, bicarbonate between 4,580 and 12,17 me L-1, chloride between 0,240 and 2,110 me L-1. Magnesium contents were determined between 2,22 and 7,43 me L-1, potassium between 0,02 and 0,48 me L-1, sodium between 0,01 and 1,05 me L-1 and calcium amounts between 1,39 and 4,27 me L-1. Depending on the sampling point and time, boron contents of the waters varied between 0.07 and 23,80 mg L-1, and phosphorus contents varied between 0 and 0,54 mg L-1. When the Mustafakemalpaşa Stream was evaluated in terms of irrigation water quality depending on the sampling point and time; it was found that it was in the “1st class” range in terms of SAR values between 0,01-0,54, in %Na values between 0,54-14,06, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes in terms of RSC values, “suitable-not suitable” in terms of MAR value between 48,10-83,09 mg L-1, and “suitable” in terms of KR and PI. Depending on the sampling point and time, the Mustafakemalpaşa stream has been determined to have a "class 4" water quality, i.e. not suitable for irrigation, especially at Bükköy and Devecikonağı points where the B content is taken as a representative of the Kütahya-Emet branch, and especially at Melikköy and Doğancı points where irrigation and agriculture are intensive

Prognostic significance of mtor expression in recurrence following hepatic metastasectomy in colorectal cancer

Surgery is one of the most effective treatment methods for liver metastases developing from primary colorectal cancer (CRC). Despite the widespread application of surgical approaches, recurrence rates remain substantial. Although chemotherapy is frequently employed, the supporting evidence for its efficacy in this context remains inconclusive. In the present study, we aimed to identify potential predictors of post-metastasectomy recurrence by analyzing clinical, pathological, and molecular features of both primary colorectal tumors and their corresponding hepatic metastases. Specifically, we evaluated the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers, cancer stem cell (CSC) markers, and selected oncogenic mRNAs (RAS, mTOR, and CMYC) in tissue samples from 84 patients. RAS and CMYC are well-known proto-oncogenes involved in cell proliferation and survival, while mTOR functions as a central regulator of cell growth and metabolism. Following liver metastasectomy, intra-hepatic recurrence was observed in 40.5% of the cases. Among the molecular markers analyzed, the EMT transcription factor SNAIL-which plays a critical role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis-and mTOR exhibited significantly elevated expression in metastatic lesions from patients who experienced recurrence. While SNAIL expression did not show a clear association with the time to recurrence, increased mTOR expression in metastatic liver tissue was significantly associated with both shorter recurrence-free survival and diminished overall survival (p < 0.001). Results showed that mTOR expression levels could be a clinically relevant predictive indicator of remnant liver recurrence. In patients with liver metastases, the use of mTOR inhibitors may be considered after hepatic metastasectomy

    No full text
Background: Food waste products of industrial processing pose environmental and economic problems. Although there are existing studies in the current literature regarding the evaluation of carotene-rich waste, there is a need for innovative and up-to-date information on the valorization of these wastes. Scope and approach: This article aims to provide an extensive approach to food waste valorization, extraction of carotenoids from waste including potential sources of functional food ingredients, food applications, and life cycle assessment in terms of carotene-rich wastes. Key findings and conclusions: Recovery of carotene from food waste is an important strategic aim in terms of a sustainable agriculture system and the development of functional foods and natural food colorants. In this sense, various green extraction techniques are used for high yields and the best quality carotenoids. Combining green extraction methods including pulsed electric field (PEF) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) or pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) may be an efficient approach. However, research on the extended applications of these carotenoid-rich extracts is scarce, so future studies should focus on their potential use in various food materials. Therefore, further studies are required to cover the current gaps relating to the upcoming valorization of carotenes

Mosaic is a floor, wall or ceiling covering made by natural pebbles, stone, marble, metal, glass, tile, terracotta or sea shells in various colors to form a pattern. Although there are different suggestions about the origin of the mosaic, the whole scientific world accepts cone-shaped coverings made of terracotta as the earliest mosaic examples. It is understood that the art of architectural ornamentation, which we can define as mosaic art, started with conical stone and conical clay mosaics and evolved into pebble mosaic, and that these examples continued until the use of raw materials such as glass, ceramics, limestone and valuable stones such as emeralds, pearls and rubies played an important role in the emergence of modern mosaic art. Early examples of terracotta and pebble mosaics, which started to be used in wall coverings in the second half of the 4th millennium BC, were found in centers such as Uruk (Warka), Tiryns, Uşaklı, Til Barsib, Arslan Taş, Altıntepe, Gordion, Tille Höyük and Ziyaret Tepe. By analyzing these early mosaic examples, it is important to examine the transition phase to Hellenistic and Roman mosaics and the existing chronological gaps between the 9th and 5th century BC

    No full text
BackgroundColorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most prevalent cancer worldwide. Recent studies suggest the promising potential of microRNAs (miRNA) in predicting the status of circulating tumor cells (CTC), and their combined analyses could pave the way for significant advancements in assessing the risk of metastatic cancer. Here, we investigate the circulating miRNA signatures associated with CTC status in metastatic CRC (mCRC).MethodsThe CTC status of mCRC patients was assessed using AdnaTest ColonCancer technology, which detects tumor cells using an immunomagnetic approach and characterizes them based on colon-specific surface markers. The miRNA profiles were analyzed using the Agilent miRNA microarray in 8 CTC-positive, 8 CTC-negative, and eight healthy individuals. The functional implications of dysregulated miRNAs and their interactions with target mRNAs, TFs, and lncRNAs were determined through a comprehensive in silico analysis. Candidate miRNAs that were differentially expressed in CTC-positive and CTC-negative groups, which have prior evidence for their role in CRC biology, were validated using qPCR.ResultsWe identified two groups of dysregulated miRNAs associated with CTC status and multiple candidate biomarkers in suggested miRNA regulatory networks. Three miRNAs (hsa-miR-199a-5p, hsa-miR-326, hsa-miR-500b-5p), which were downregulated in the CTC-positive group compared to the CTC-negative group, were confirmed by qPCR and prioritized as candidate predictors of CTC status in mCRC.ConclusionOur findings suggest biomarker candidates that can be used to predict CTC status in individuals with mCRC. This might also provide new insights into new translational medicine applications in the management of mCRC through miRNA-based CRC-associated CTC detection

The aim of this study is to provide a valid and reliable measurement tool for assessing the competencies that leaders need to effectively manage digital transformation processes. Accordingly, the digital leadership scale developed by Zhu (2015) and revised by Wang et al. (2022) was adapted into Turkish. To test the structural validity of this scale, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were conducted, while the reliability assessment was performed using the Cronbach’s Alpha test. SPSS and AMOS software were utilized for these analyses. Exploratory Factor Analysis showed that the scale maintained its five-factor structure and explained 65.309% of the total variance. The reliability analysis revealed a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.915, indicating high internal consistency. The AVE and CR values supported the convergent validity of the factors. Additionally, the scale’s discriminant validity was confirmed based on the correlations between factors being below 0.85 and the examination of the relationships between AVE square root values and their respective factors. Confirmatory Factor Analysis results demonstrated that the model’s fit indices were at an acceptable level, confirming the validity of the scale. The findings suggest that the scale is a reliable tool for measuring and enhancing leaders’ digital competencies and can guide future research
