The relationship between pornography consumption situations and emotion regulation difficulties and subjective well-being: A quantitative study
In this study, it was examined how the levels of difficulties in emotion regulation and subjective well-being differed according to the current pornography consumption status and frequency. In addition, it was analyzed how there may be differentiation on the axis of gender variable. A total of 429 men and women aged 18 and over participated in the study. In the research, a significant relationship was found between the dependent variables, and significant differences were found in the sub-dimensions of the "subjective well-being" variable according to the current status of porn consumption in the general sample. Also, in the male sample, it was found that those who did not consume porn had higher levels general subjective well-being than those who consumed porn and those who had previously consumed porn. Similarly, the subjective well-being levels of the participants differed significantly according to the frequency of porn consumption. Those who consume pornography less frequently have significantly higher subjective well-being than those who consu-me pornography more frequently. In parallel, the scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of the subjective well-being differed significantly according to the frequency of porn consumption. In the male sample, it was observed that the sub-jective well-being and difficulties in emotion regulation scores of male participants differed significantly according the frequency of porn consumption. Among the demographic variables, significant differences were found in the gender variable according to the current status and the frequency of porn consumption of the participants. However, no signifi-cant differences were found in difficulties in emotion regulation and its sub-dimensions according to the current status of pornography consumption. Difficulties in emotion regulation score showed significant differences only among male participants according to frequency of pornography consumption. With this study, it is aimed to fill the gap arising from the limited studies in the Turkish literature on risky porn consumption and related variables. The findings of the study also indicate the need for further research
Designing a cascaded exponential pid controller via starfish optimizer for dc motor and liquid level systems
In this study, a novel cascaded exponential proportional-integral-derivative (exp-PID) controller tuned by the starfish optimization algorithm (SFOA) is proposed for enhancing the transient and steady-state performance of nonlinear dynamic systems. The design objective is to achieve improved adaptability, robustness, and precision under varying operating conditions and external disturbances. The exponential PID structure introduces nonlinear modulation in the proportional and derivative components, enabling smoother control action and superior damping characteristics compared to conventional PID and fractional-order PID designs. The proposed SFOA-based exp-PID controller is validated on two benchmark systems: a DC motor speed control system and a three-tank liquid-level process. Across multiple independent trials, the controller achieved outstanding results, with the DC motor system attaining a rise time of 0.0039 s, settling time of 0.0083 s, and zero overshoot, while the three-tank system reached a rise time of 1.72 s, settling time of 2.47 s, overshoot of 1.5%, and steady-state error of 9.22 x 10(-)(5)%. Comparative analyses with recently developed algorithms (including the flood algorithm, greater cane rat algorithm, mantis search algorithm, and dandelion optimizer) as well as previously reported methods demonstrate the superior convergence behavior, stability, and accuracy of the proposed controller. Statistical evaluations further confirm the method's robustness and consistent performance across repeated runs
Causes of death in people living with human immunodeficiency virus in Türkiye: A multicentre retrospective study
Purpose Effective antiretroviral therapy has significantly reduced mortality rates among people living with HIV (PWH) and has altered the distribution of causes of death. We aimed to investigate trends in causes of death among PWH over time. Methods We investigated all reported deaths in the Turkish Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Society HIV Cohort. Causes of death were categorized and analyzed across four time periods: 1997-2006, 2007-2014, 2015-2019, and 2020-2023. Factors associated with HIV/AIDS-related causes of death were compared to other causes of death. Results A total of 9,334 PWH were followed, of which 414 deaths (4.4%) occurred, including 44 (11.6%) among individuals assigned female at birth. The most common causes of death were AIDS-related illnesses (57.7%), non-AIDS-related cancers (11.1%), and cardiovascular diseases (9.9%). Among causes of death, the rate of AIDS-related diseases has declined over the years (p<0.001). Rates of non-AIDS-related cancers (p=0.013) and non-AIDS-related infections (p=0.008) have increased, and deaths due to comorbid conditions such as cardiovascular diseases have remained stable (p=0.193). In multivariate analysis, AIDS-related deaths were significantly associated with an increased risk in individuals who had an AIDS-defining illness at baseline. The rate of AIDS-related deaths declined in later periods compared to 1997-2006. AIDS-related deaths decreased with older age at HIV diagnosis. The rate of AIDS-related deaths was less frequent among men who have sex with men, smokers, and ex-smokers, individuals on antiretroviral therapy, those with higher CD4 counts, and individuals with comorbid diseases. Conclusions Among all deaths, AIDS-related deaths have declined. In contrast, the proportion of deaths attributed to non-AIDS-related cancers has increased, and the mortality rate from cardiovascular disease has remained unchanged over the years. Therefore, it is crucial to implement interventions that address comorbid conditions, particularly by enhancing the management of cardiovascular disease and cancer
Multimodal and clinical findings of three cases with stellate multiform amelanotic choroidopathy
Purpose To present the clinical and multimodal imaging features of three patients diagnosed with stellate multiform amelanotic choroidopathy (SMACH), a recently described, rare chorioretinal entity.Methods Case series.Results All patients, aged 5, 10, and 38 years, presented with unilateral, yellowish choroidal lesions extending from the fovea toward the temporal macula. Multimodal imaging was used for diagnosis. Structural disorganization of the subfoveal choroid with irregular, undulating hyperreflective alterations of the retinal pigment epithelium/Bruch's membrane complex with focal protrusions was noted in all patients, while subretinal fluid (SRF) was present in two patients at presentation on optical coherence tomography (OCT). No patient had systemic findings. The first and the third cases received intravitreal bevacizumab injections and the SRF persisted with fluctuations in both patients. In the second case, although there was no SRF initially, it occurred with fluctuations during follow-up. Throughout the follow-up periods, visual acuities remained stable in all patients without any additional treatment.Conclusion SMACH should be considered in the differential diagnosis of choroidal structural disorganization, particularly in young patients. Notably, one patient was 5 years old, which represents the youngest age reported to date. Multimodal imaging modalities are essential for the recognition of the disease and a confirmed diagnosis of SMACH may prevent unnecessary treatments such as intravitreal injections and photodynamic therapy

Applications of sombor topological indices and entropy measures for qspr modeling of anticancer drugs: A python-based methodology
The development of effective anticancer drugs remains a central objective in pharmaceutical research. In recent years, topological indices (TIs) have gained considerable attention for their ability to numerically represent molecular structures and support predictive modeling in cheminformatics. This study aims to explore the potential of recently introduced Sombor topological indices and their entropy-based extensions within the framework of quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) modeling. The study will focus specifically on anticancer compounds, utilizing graph theory and edge partition approach. A comprehensive Python-based computational framework was developed to compute the relevant topological descriptors and entropy measures. The calculated indices were then integrated with statistical regression and machine learning techniques to construct and evaluate QSPR models to predict characteristics such as boiling point, molar refractivity, heavy atom count, exact mass, flash point, and polarizability. A curated dataset of anticancer agents was employed to ensure data reliability and chemical diversity. Comparative regression analyses indicate that Sombor indices exhibit stronger predictive performance and higher statistical significance than their entropy-based counterparts. These findings highlight the promise of Sombor indices as reliable molecular descriptors for QSPR modeling and powerful tools in the cheminformatics-guided drug discovery process

Effect of laser beam oscillation parameters on weld geometry and mechanical properties of dissimilar dual-phase steel welds
In this study, dissimilar butt welding of 0.8 mm thick DP600 and 1 mm thick DP1180 advanced high-strength steels was performed using fiber laser beam welding with beam oscillation. The effects of oscillation type (linear and circular), oscillation amplitude (0.5, 1, 1.5 mm), and welding speed (50-80 mm s-1) on weld bead geometry, microhardness, and tensile load were investigated. A total of 12 experimental sets were conducted by keeping the laser power and frequency constant at 1.2 kW and 100 Hz, respectively. Metallographic evaluations, Vickers microhardness tests, and tensile tests were carried out in accordance with standard procedures. The results revealed that welding speed had a significant influence on weld penetration and width, with optimal parameters determined as 60 mm s-1 speed and 1 mm amplitude in both oscillation types. Circular oscillation generally led to higher microhardness values, whereas linear oscillation produced wider weld seams. While amplitude increase decreased penetration depth, it improved weld width. The tensile load of all joints was largely influenced by the DP600 base metal, where fractures were consistently observed. However, the joint at 1.5 mm amplitude in circular mode fractured in the weld zone, indicating insufficient penetration. The findings suggest that proper selection of oscillation parameters can enhance weld quality and mechanical performance when joining dissimilar high-strength steels for lightweight automotive applications
