We introduce the Adaptive Temporal Attention Transformer Fusion (ATATFUSION), a novel methodology meticulously crafted to cater to the delicate intricacies of email urgency prediction. By harnessing cutting-edge techniques, our approach overcomes prevailing limitations in the existing methodologies, offering a pioneering solution for enhanced email management
The format and display of the MARC 505 contents note: Some recent practical developments
This article identifies trends in the use of the MARC 505 field through the analysis of records downloaded from the UK's National Bibliographic Knowledgebase. It finds that the proportion of records where this field is formatted in the established way - with items delimited by a double hyphen - is rapidly decreasing, and alternative formatting, including HTML, is becoming increasingly common. A project at the author's library demonstrates that modern public catalogs are capable of sophisticated display without requiring HTML in the underlying records and that ultimately the consistency of the established formatting is probably better for display than HTML
N of 1: optimizing methodology for the detection of individual response variation in resistance training
Most resistance training research focuses on inference from average intervention effects from observed group-level change scores (i.e., mean change of group A vs group B). However, many practitioners are more interested in training responses (i.e., causal effects of an intervention) on the individual level (i.e., causal effect of intervention A vs intervention B for individual X). To properly examine individual response variation, multiple confounding sources of variation (e.g., random sampling variability, measurement error, biological variability) must be addressed. Novel study designs where participants complete both interventions and at least one intervention twice can be leveraged to account for these sources of variation (i.e., n of 1 trials). Specifically, the appropriate statistical methods can separate variability into the signal (i.e., participant-by-training interaction) versus the noise (i.e., within-participant variance). This distinction can allow researchers to detect evidence of individual response variation. If evidence of individual response variation exists, researchers can explore predictors of the more favorable intervention, potentially improving exercise prescription. This review outlines the methodology necessary to explore individual response variation to resistance training, predict favorable interventions, and the limitations thereof. Unveiling the path to PMIS success: Antecedents of actual usage among IT project managers
The main objective of this study is to identify the determinants of actual usage of project management information systems (PMIS) by IT project managers, addressing a research gap in PMIS acceptance despite its increasing adoption. Integrating the technology acceptance model, unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, diffusion of innovation theory, and individual level absorptive capacity, this study offers a unique perspective on PMIS usage among IT project managers. Through quantitative research across 16 software companies in Sri Lanka, significant relationships among behavioural intention, facilitating conditions, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and individual-level absorptive capacity were identified. Surprisingly, traditional technology acceptance factors such as relative advantage, observability, compatibility, and trialability showed insignificance. The study contributes theoretically by merging individual-level absorptive capacity with established behavioural theories and practically by providing actionable insights for organizations aiming to strengthen PMIS acceptance and utilization
Computer vision driven recommendation system for London explorers
This paper presents an innovative system that uses computer vision and machine learning to improve tourists' experiences in London, UK. The system conducts real-time facial analysis using advanced algorithms like You Only Look Once (YOLO) for face detection and FaceNet for age, gender, and ethnicity prediction to automatically infer demographics without manual input. It leverages survey data and infers attributes to generate personalized landmark recommendations. The system is hybrid that uses demographic, collaborative filtering and content based. We achieve a precision of 79% and a root mean square error 1.26. The novel combination of computer vision profiling and recommendation techniques shows promise to transform urban tourism by automating personalization without explicit profile inputs
The Living CV project: a model of collaborative learning in third space
The Living CV project is a collaborative initiative launched at a south coast university in the UK, which aims to help students develop their employability skills and evidence their learning outcomes. The project is delivered university-wide from a third space hub, where people from different disciplines and backgrounds come together to work on shared goals. It has therefore provided a way for colleagues across the university to collaborate within third space. In this study we focus on the role of the departmental Living CV Champions and their pivotal role in driving forward this third space project. These champions are situated across the university – in academic departments, in the university’s central Learning and Teaching service and in its career service – but all are working across boundaries and drawing collaborators into the third space of the project. We suggest that the Living CV Champions are also collaboration champions for the institution, in the way in which they support the development of staff networks and knowledge sharing, and therefore the collaborative capital of the institution as a whole. We find that third space projects such as the Living CV can contribute to the development of collaborative capital, act as a gateway for staff to wider communities of practice and build confidence for those engaged in them. In this case study we illustrate one route to achieving this, through a champions model which breaks down traditional academic silos and encourages wider collaboration
(Going) for the one: Progressive rock fandom as mea cultura
In this article, we focus on music fandom related to the band Yes, one of progressive rock’s most enduring legacy acts. Drawing on primary research interviews and focus groups, we argue that progressive rock fandom should be characterized as a largely private pursuit where the relationship between fans and their music is paramount. This relationship, and its associated listening practices, are viewed as an ongoing resource and life-long attachment of significant importance for personal identity, something which we characterize as a form of mea cultura. This term is used to signify individual rather than wider societal approaches to understanding music appreciation and the valorization of music artifacts and history
