Bridging Aspirations and Policy: An Analysis of Community Input Absorption from Recess Activities of the Regional People's Representative Council in Bengkulu Province
This study analyzes the effectiveness of recess activities conducted by members of the Regional People's Representative Council of Bengkulu Province in fostering local democracy and promoting community economic development. The research aims to assess how well community aspirations gathered during recess are translated into actionable programs within the 2018 Revised Regional Government Budget. Employing survey methods and literature review, the study classifies and quantifies the absorption of "Main Ideas"—a formal channel for representing community input—into regional development programs. Findings show that while council members actively collect aspirations and advocate for their inclusion through official reports, plenary discussions, and political lobbying, the actual realization of these inputs remains limited. Of the total proposed Main Ideas, only 44% in the productive economy sector, 60.5% in the infrastructure sector, and 36.9% in the socio-economic sector were implemented. This indicates a gap between aspiration collection and program realization, potentially due to limited coordination, bureaucratic challenges, or resource constraints. The study concludes that improving institutional mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, and monitoring systems is essential to enhance the impact of legislative representation. Future research should adopt a longitudinal approach, broaden sectoral coverage, and explore administrative barriers and public perceptions to provide more comprehensive strategies for optimizing the role of regional legislative institutions in local development

This study aims to analyze the potential of business sectors that support economic growth in Gowa Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach using GRDP data at constant prices from 2010 for the period 2019–2023. The analysis method used is the Location Quotient (LQ) to identify basic and non-basic sectors. The results show that of the 17 sectors, 7 are classified as basic (e.g., Real Estate, Agriculture, Information and Communication), which contribute significantly to GRDP and have significant potential for job creation. Meanwhile, the remaining 10 sectors are classified as non-basic (e.g., Manufacturing Industry, Construction). Although they have high GRDP values, their low LQ values indicate contributions below the provincial average and require strengthening strategies. These findings recommend prioritizing basic sectors and strengthening non-basic sectors in regional economic development planning. Keywords : GRDP, Basic Sectors, Non-Basic, Economic Growt
Analysis of Changes in Desirable Dietary Pattern (DDP) Scores on the Nutritional Status of Toddlers in Island of Borneo
The Dietary Diversity Score (DDS) is an important indicator for assessing the quality of food consumption within a population, directly linked to the nutritional status of individuals, particularly toddlers, who are highly vulnerable to nutritional issues. This study aims to analyze changes in DDS scores and their influence on toddler nutritional status, life expectancy, poverty levels, and the Food Security Index (IKP) in Island of Borneo. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study consists of 55 cities/districts on the Island of Borneo. The data used are secondary data from 2022 and 2023, analyzed using a simple linear regression test. The results indicate that DDS scores and toddler nutritional status (stunting, wasting, underweight, and overweight) in Island of Borneo show no statistically significant relationships, with p-values of 0.948, 0.288, 0.326, and 0.850 (p > 0.05), respectively. However, there is a significant influence of DDS scores on poverty levels (p = 0.011)
Strengthening Community Engagement in Local Disaster Management: The Northern Mindanao, Philippines Experience
Community engagement plays a crucial role in effective disaster management at the local level. As a representative voice of the citizens, civil society has worked alongside the government to broaden service delivery and act as collaborators in developing programs tailored to the community's needs. This study examines the engagement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the local disaster risk reduction management council (LDRRMC) of Bukidnon Province, Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Employing a descriptive-quantitative approach, the research evaluates CSOs' involvement in the functional areas of planning, budgeting, implementation monitoring, and evaluation, utilizing a structured survey among CSOs and local government units (LGUs). The results indicated that the CSOs were most engaged in the planning stage while least engaged in the monitoring and evaluation. The findings highlight the need for clear guidelines and capacity development to enhance CSO engagement. Global practices from countries like Japan, South Korea, and India underscore the importance of participatory and network governance to strengthen collaboration. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on CSO participation in disaster governance

Strategic Role of Corporate Social Responsibility in Mitigating Air Pollution: A Case Study of PT Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit II Dumai
This study examines the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in addressing environmental challenges, particularly air pollution, by PT Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit II in Dumai City. The research aims to assess how the company’s CSR initiatives contribute to mitigating negative environmental impacts while fostering sustainable development in its operational area. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through interviews and document analysis, then processed using NVivo 12 for thematic analysis. The findings reveal that PT Pertamina’s CSR implementation is structured around three core strategies: leadership commitment, regional outreach, and stakeholder engagement. Among these, stakeholder engagement was identified as the most significant factor in strengthening the effectiveness of CSR practices, especially in building community trust and promoting cooperative problem-solving related to air pollution. The study also highlights that CSR is not merely a legal or ethical obligation but functions as a strategic mechanism for social welfare improvement and long-term business sustainability. However, this research is limited by its qualitative focus, which does not include direct environmental data or broad community-based surveys. Future studies are recommended to integrate quantitative environmental metrics and expand stakeholder representation to enhance the reliability and policy relevance of CSR evaluations in the context of environmental management
