Breaking the Language Barrier: Anxiety, Its Impacts, and Coping Mechanisms of Student Interpreters
Interpreting has long been regarded as a challenging task as it requires heightened cognitive and emotional effort in real-time, and anxiety often affects the interpreting performance. This study explored the factors and impacts of anxiety on the interpreting skills of students who are prospective interpreters. Using a qualitative approach, the study conducted semi-structured interviews with 15 English Department students at Universitas Serambi Mekkah who had finished the interpreting examination. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis, and four-anxiety-inducing factors were identified: Fear of Making Mistakes (80%), Lack of Self-Confidence (66%), Time Pressure (66%), and Lack of Preparation (46.6%). The impacts involved performance-related issues, cognitive impairment, physical symptoms, impaired active listening and attention. To cope with the challenges, the student interpreters employed preparation-based approaches, practice and skill development, physical relaxation techniques, and social support systems. This research provides insights that, even though the students independently adopted their own coping mechanisms, interpreting trainers or instructors should also take part in reducing their anxiety, such as incorporating stress management techniques, frequent simulation exercises, and confidence-building activities that could better prepare them for real-world interpreting scenarios
Developing Linguistic Strategies to Boost Engagement and Branding of Micro-Influencers in Indonesia
The phenomenon of micro-influencers in Indonesia continues to grow alongside the increasing use of social media in digital marketing. One of the key factors determining the success of micro-influencers in building engagement and branding is the linguistic strategies they employ. However, in-depth studies on how language use can enhance audience interaction and brand appeal remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to develop an effective model of linguistic strategies for micro-influencers to boost audience engagement and strengthen their personal branding. This research adopts a qualitative method with digital discourse analysis of micro-influencer content on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Data were collected through sampling of social media posts, interviews with micro-influencers and their audiences, and analysis of interactions in the form of comments and engagement metrics. The analytical techniques used include critical discourse analysis to identify communication patterns, sentiment analysis to measure audience responses, and the development of a conceptual model of linguistic strategies based on the findings. The results of this study not only contribute academically to the field of digital linguistics but also have practical implications in helping micro-influencers and brands optimize their communication strategies on social media
Hubungan Cyberloafing dan Stres Kerja Pada Pegawai Negeri Sipil di Aceh Barat
In this study, Civil Servants were more involved in light cyberloafing activities, such as chatting on WhatsApp and accessing social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, while more serious forms of cyberloafing were not found in the office. The main objective of this research was to identify the relationship between work stress levels and cyberloafing behavior among Civil Servants in West Aceh. The research method used was a quantitative approach with data collection through a questionnaire. The population studied consisted of 372 employees, with a sample size of 80 employees calculated using the Slovin formula. The data was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation technique, processed with SPSS 20.0 for Windows. Prior to this, validity and reliability tests were conducted to ensure the validity of the data used. Normality and linearity tests were also performed. Based on the research results, the questionnaire used was found to be valid and reliable. Descriptive results showed that the majority of respondents experienced high work stress and cyberloafing behavior. Hypothesis testing with Pearson Correlation revealed a very strong positive relationship between work stress and cyberloafing behavior, with the test results showing a p-value < 0.05 (0.000) and an accuracy strength of 0.955. This study indicates that the higher the level of work stress, the higher the level of cyberloafing among Civil Servants in West Aceh. Both hypotheses proposed in this study were accepted. The study also found that work stress and cyberloafing influence each other, where an increase in work stress leads to an increase in cyberloafing, and vice versa

Women's Representation in Policy Making at the Local Level in Indonesia
This study aims to examines the substantive political representation of women in the Malang City Regional Representative Council (DPRD) during the policy-making process of the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on the 2022–2042 Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW). Using a qualitative research design with a literature review and document analysis covering DPRD minutes, the draft Ranperda, and faction structure, this study explores how gender, educational attainment, and institutional hierarchy shape the substantive participation of female legislators. The findings reveal that although women's descriptive representation in the Malang City DPRD has increased to 26.66%, their involvement in strategic decision-making remains limited. Male legislators continue to dominate influential positions such as faction chairperson, advisor, spokesperson, and membership in Special Committees (Pansus), leaving women largely confined to administrative or peripheral roles. Despite showing a higher attendance rate (93%) compared to men (83%), the substantive contribution of female legislators is significantly lower (41.67% vs. 75.76%). Educational background enhances engagement among female legislators, yet gendered structures and cultural norms continue to constrain their influence. This study concludes that women’s representation in Malang’s DPRD remains paradoxical, as educational advantages enhance engagement but structural and cultural barriers continue to limit their substantive policy influence. This study aims to examines the substantive political representation of women in the Malang City Regional Representative Council (DPRD) during the policy-making process of the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on the 2022–2042 Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW).
