Investigation of the Effect of Stearic Acid Addition to Diesel on Combustion in a Compression Ignition Engine
Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)16COOH. Stearic acid is used in the literature as a surfactant, plasticizer, reducer of flow resistance, water repellent (hydrophobic), reducing agent of hygroscopicity and dielectric film layer former. In addition, according to scientific studies, coating nanoparticles such as aluminium and boron with stearic acid increases their combustion stability. This study is a preliminary study for experimental studies on combustible solid particles. Due to the above-mentioned properties of stearic acid, it is desired to use it as a surfactant. However, the effect of stearic acid on combustion in a compression ignition engine needs to be investigated experimentally. For this purpose, stearic acid was used as an additive to diesel fuel in a compression ignition heavy-duty diesel engine. Stearic acid was added to the diesel fuel in the amounts of 125, 250, 500 and 1000 ppm by mass. Then it was mixed with a stirrer for 45 minutes. The test engine was operated at 700 rpm and 300 Nm load. Engine performance and emission data were examined.</p
Bilayer graphene like-structure in the presence of a time-dependent magnetic field
In this work we consider the dynamic magnetic characteristics induced by a time-dependent magnetic field in the case of a bilayer graphene-like structure. We pay special attention to the influence of the crystal field parameter and exchange interaction parameter on the hysteresis behavior. Among the most interesting magnetic phenomena that have been studied in this work, to understand phase transitions in the system within the framework of the spin-7/2 Ising model and dynamic mean-field theory, include coercivity, remanent magnetization, and the appearance of multiple hysteresis loops. Temperature, exchange interaction parameter, and crystal field parameter can all be used to regulate the system's phase transitions and hysteresis loop types. These parameters will define the magnetic properties of a system that is allowed to take a structure similar to that of bilayer graphene and thereby impact applications related to the development of sophisticated sensors, low energy loss systems, and magnetic storage devices
Activated carbon cloth with MnCoAl layer double hydroxide nanocomposite for the separation and preconcentration of Pb(II) and Ni(II) from food samples
A novel dispersive solid phase microextraction (dSP-ME) technique using activated carbon cloth (ACC) and layered double hydroxide (LDH) has been developed for enriching and extracting Pb(II) and Ni(II). The ACC@MnCoAl-LDH nanosorbent, has proven with high surface area, superior extraction dynamics and efficiency, compared to traditional sorbents. Structural features of the new ACC@MnCoAl-LDH sorbent were also characterized. Analytical parameters such as pH, adsorbent quantity, sample volume, eluent volume, adsorption/desorption time, and concentration were optimized, using 7.5 mg of adsorbent. Limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), and preconcentration factor (PF) were determined at 0.71 μgL -1, 2.35 μgL −1 and 25 for Pb(II) and 0.07 μgL -1, 0.22 μgL −1 and 30 for Ni(II). Validation tests also performed using certified reference materials (CRMs). The % RSD was calculated at 2.5–7.8 for Pb(II) and 3.5–8.2 for Ni(II). The method was applied to determine Pb(II) and Ni(II) levels in packet juices, noodles, and water samples

miR-484 as an "OncomiR" in Breast Cancer Promotes Tumorigenesis by Suppressing Apoptosis Genes
PurposeBreast cancer (BC) is one of the most common causes of death among females. Cancer cells escape from apoptosis, causing the cells to proliferate uncontrollably. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to regulate apoptosis in cancer cells.ObjectiveThis study aimed to determine the change in miR-484 in different BC cells and its relationship with the apoptosis pathway.MethodsIn the study, tumor and healthy tissue samples adjacent to the tumor were collected from 42 patients (6 benign, 36 malignant). Tissue samples were classified according to tumor type, tumor histological grade, proliferation index, and molecular subtypes. Gene expression levels were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and protein levels were determined using the Western Blot method. The results were analyzed using the delta-delta Ct method.ResultsFindings showed that miR-484 expression levels were higher in malignant tumors than in benign tumors, and higher in tumor tissues than healthy tissues. Additionally, it was determined that as Ki-67 levels and histological grade and aggressiveness increased, miR-484 expression levels also increased. In tumor tissue compared with healthy adjacent tissue, there was an increase in BCL2 expression and a decrease in Casp3 and Casp9 expression. Therefore, a positive correlation was found between miR-484 expression and BCL2, and a negative correlation was found between CASP3 and CASP9 expression.ConclusionOur results show that miR-484 may play a roll as an onco-miR in BC. Increased miR-484 and BCL2, and decreased Casp3, in breast tumor tissues suggest that Casp9 expression may increase uncontrolled cell proliferation by suppressing apoptosis in BC cells and may contribute to tumor progression
Synthesis and use of new magnetic adsorbent for sensitive, practical and simultaneous analysis Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen molecules in urine samples
A new sample preparation and determination method, including HPLC-DAD analysis after Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction (MSPE), was developed to monitor the trace amounts of two types of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Ibuprofen (IBP) and Ketoprofen (KP). In the proposed method, IBP and KP analytes were extracted from newly synthesized magnetic-based sorbent in a pH 4.0 buffer medium and enriched by desorbing again with ethanol to a smaller volume before chromatographic determinations. The samples were filtered and transferred to HPLC vials before analysis. The experimental variables were optimized step by step such as adsorption time, desorption solvent, pH, etc. After preconcentration of IBP and KP molecules by MSPE, determination of target molecules was carried out by isocratic elution of 30 % Methyl alcohol, 40 % Trifluoro Acetic Acid (TFA) (0.1 %, v:v), 30 % Acetonitrile. By using optimized conditions, the detection limits of target molecules were calculated as 3.43 ng mL- 1 and 3.48 ng mL- 1 for IBP and KP, respectively. The triplicate measurements made with model solutions containing 100 ng mL- 1 of target molecules, RSD %values were found below 3.50 %. The developed method was successfully applied to synthetic urine and pooling urine samples. Finally, the practicality and suitability for green analytical chemistry of the proposed method was evaluated by using Blue Applicability Grade Index (BAGI) and Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI)
Does Behavioral Feeding Problem Influence Weight Status and Diet Quality in Preschool Children?
This study investigated behavioral feeding problems and associations with weight status and diet quality in preschool children. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 265 children aged 3 to 6 years. The Behavioral Pediatric Feeding Assessment Scale (BPFAS) was used to assess feeding behavior. Higher feeding problems were associated with lower body mass index and lower diet quality. Underweight children had higher mean BPFAS scores (P =.01). Having fewer siblings was associated with lower diet quality (r = 0.187; P =.002) and higher BPFAS scores (r = -0.127; P =.038). Higher BPFAS scores, picky-eaters scores, toddler refusal-general scores, and older children refusal-general scores were associated with lower body mass index and lower diet quality (P <.001)
