Some new insights into ideal convergence and subsequences
Some results on the sets of almost convergent, statistically convergent, uniformly statistically convergent, I-convergent subsequences of (sn) have been obtained by many authors via establishing a one-to-one correspondence between the interval (0, 1] and the collection of all subsequences of a given sequence s = (sn). However, there are still some gaps in the existing literature. In this paper we plan to fill some of the gaps with new results. Adsorption, oxidation, kinetic and thermodynamic studies of methyl orange by magnetic Fe3O4 NPs and their chitosan/alginate nanocomposites
Magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles, iron oxide chitosan (Fe3O4-CS) and iron oxide alginate (Fe3O4-AT) nanocomposite beads were synthesised using green synthesis method. They were used as both adsorbents for the adsorption of methyl orange (MO) dye from the wastewater and heterogeneous catalysts for the catalytic wet peroxidation (CWPO) of MO. While the dye removal was successfully performed with Fe(3)O(4)NPs, Fe3O4-CS and Fe3O4-AT in both adsorption studies and CWPO, the highest removal efficiency (99%) in the shortest time (8 min for adsorption, 20 min for CPWO) was obtained with Fe3O4-CS for MO removal. The adsorption experiments were performed with the batch techniques at different contact time, pH, initial dye concentration, temperature, amount of adsorbent and foreign ion effect parameters by Fe3O4-CS adsorbent. The equilibrium was quickly reached after 30 min at pH 3 and 298 K. Fitting equilibrium data to Langmuir, Temkin and Freundlich isotherms showed that Langmuir model was more suitable to describe MO adsorption with a maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 132 mg/g at 298 K. The Experimental data were analysed using intra particle diffusion, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models and it was found that the adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order equation. Based on thermodynamic studies, adsorption process occurred as spontaneous and exothermic. The effects of the amount of catalyst, pH, temperature and H2O2 concentration were investigated to determine their catalytic activities for the decomposition of MO with CWPO technique. The reusability of Fe3O4-CS for both adsorption and CWPO techniques for MO removal was performed, and the adsorption and oxidation efficiency was found to be 97%. Moreover, the reaction kinetics was also investigated and the oxidation reaction was in good agreement with the pseudo-first order kinetic model. Dietary supplementation of Agaricus bisporus stalk meal on growth performance, carcass and organ traits, meat quality, cecum mesophilic aerobic bacteria counts and intestinal histology in broiler chickens
RESUMO: Foram investigados os efeitos da mistura dietética de Agaricus bisporus ou talo ou tampa sobre o desempenho de crescimento, componentes da carcaça e alguns parâmetros de qualidade da carne, contagens de bactérias aeróbias mesofílicas e histomorfologia intestinal em frangos de corte. Duzentos e quarenta frangos de corte Ross 308 de um dia de idade foram divididos em quatro grupos experimentais com quatro repetições, cada um incluindo 15 aves. Galinhas alimentadas com dieta basal (C), mistura de cogumelos (MM, 10 g caule + 10 g cap / kg de dieta), caule de cogumelo (MS, 20 g / kg dieta) e cogumelo (MC, 20 g / kg dieta). A taxa de conversão alimentar (FCR) foi melhorada (P 0.05). Os valores L * diminuíram (P < 0.01) na carne da coxa, mas aumentaram (P < 0.01) na carne de peito com a inclusão de cogumelos. Os valores de a* diminuíram (P < 0.01) e os valores de b* aumentaram (P < 0.05) em ambas as coxas e peitos pela adição de cogumelos à dieta. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que a farinha de colmo de A. bisporus com um nível de inclusão de 20 g / kg de dieta teve efeitos favoráveis no desempenho do crescimento com maior eficiência alimentar, melhorou a morfologia intestinal com maior comprimento de vilosidade e aumentou a qualidade da carne de frangos de corte
Increased serum myonectin and irisin levels with myonectin and FNDC5 expressions in polycystic ovary syndrome: a case control study
The aim of this study is to assess the FNDC5 and myonectin expressions and serum levels of myonectin and irisin in women with PCOS. 90 participants were included in this case-control study. 45 of these participants were with PCOS, and 45 of them were healthy volunteers matched for age and body mass index (BMI). Serum irisin and myonectin levels were measured with commercially available enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) kits. Expression of the myonectin and FNDC5 genes were determined by RT-PCR analysis. It was found out that FSI, HOMA-IR, LH, LH/FSH, TT, serum irisin and serum myonectin levels, myonectin mRNA expression, and FNDC5 mRNA expression were higher in the PCOS group, whereas HDL-C level was lower in the PCOS group (p <.05). Becoming a part of the destination: a model for teaching tourism landscape
This paper seeks to explore the role of the experiential learning method in teaching tourism landscape. A model has been developed to teach tourism landscape through analysis on the basis of Kolb's experiential learning theory. The sample group consists of sixty-five high school students aged 14-18 years. The proposed model was designed in three parts using a mixed research design; fieldwork, qualitative analysis, and thematic mapping as the components of experiential learning. The results show that the experiential learning method is effective in teaching tourism landscape. Students understood the concept of the landscape. It has been proven that the teaching model developed to interpret the landscape and its three-dimensional components on maps are suitable. This study is important as it suggests a new approach that can be used in tourism education
Removal of Basic Yellow 51 Dye by Using Ion Exchange Resin Obtained by Modification of Byproduct Sugar Beet Pulp
The removal of dyestuffs, which are an important pollutant group in textile wastewater, is an important environmental problem. Various chemical and physicochemical methods are used in the purification of these wastewaters. Recently, it is known that a wide variety of agricultural materials and their modified products have been investigated for dye removal using the adsorption process, which is a promising removal method. In this study, the removal of Basic Yellow 51 dyestuff from aqueous solutions of sugar beet pulp, first activated by saponification with NaOH solution and then modified by heating with citric acid, was investigated. For this purpose, the effects of parameters such as solution pH, sorbent dose, initial concentration, contact time and temperature on the sorption of Basic Yellow 51 dye to modified sugar beet pulp were investigated. As a result, it was found that the functional groups of pectin and cellulose substances in sugar beet pulp, which are effective in sorption, were activated and their number increased, thereby increasing the dye removal efficiency. It was found that sorption efficiency increased with increasing contact time and temperature and decreased with increasing initial concentration. It was determined that the sorption equilibrium data fit the Langmuir isotherm better and that the sorption process was endothermic and spontaneous. The q(e) value was obtained from the Langmuir isotherm as approximately 200 mg/g. As a final result, it has been demonstrated that the modified product of sugar beet pulp can be used effectively in removing basic dyes from the aquatic environment
The Relationship among Splenomegaly, Lung Involvement Patterns, and Severity Score in COVID-19 Pneumonia
Introduction: The disease caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a vital public health problem that has now affected approximately 68,037,473 people and caused 1,552,802 deaths around the world. We aimed to correlate the frequency of the lung involvement patterns, the segmental distribution of lung infiltration, and TLSS in COVID-19 pneumonia patients with and without spleno-megaly. Material and Methods: This retrospective study included patients admitted to Yunus Emre State Hospital Emergency, Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease Departments between March 11, 2020, and June 10, 2020, and diagnosed with COVID-19 by PCR test with a throat and nasal swab. The thoracic and upper abdomen CTs and the clinical and demographic features of the patients were analyzed at the time of initial diagnosis. Results: Consolidation (group 1-18 (47%), group 2-69 (28.2%); P = 0017), crazy pavement pattern (15 (39.5%), 42 (17.1%); p = 0.001), pleural band formations (24 (63.2%), 87 (35.5%); p = 0.001), in-terlobular septal thickening (23 (60.5%), 79 (32.2%); p = 0.001), and sequelae of secondary tuberculosis (4 (10.5%), 8 (3.3%); p = 0.039) were more frequent in the patient with splemomegaly. The total lung severity score was high in the group with splenomegaly (7.32 ± 6.15, 3.69 ± 5.16; p = 0.001). Conclusion: Consolidation, interlobular septal thickening, tuberculosis sequela, pleural band, and crazy pavement patterns were frequent in the COVID-19 pneumonia patients with splenomegaly. The most frequently affected segment was the superior segment of the right lower lobe. TLSS was higher in the COVID-19 pneumonia patients with splenomegaly. © 2022 Bentham Science Publishers

Astrocytes are a group of cells with specific morphological and functional characteristics that vary in different regions of the brain. During postnatal development, astrocytes migrate to the regions of interest in the brain. Astrocytes interact with neurons to protect, support and maintain normal cellular homeostasis during physiological ageing of the central nervous system (CNS), including the brain, spinal cord and retina. Mature astrocytes retain most of the genes expressed in progenitor
cells to keep their proliferative potential. In the last few decades, astrocytes have been reported to serve an important role in age-related neurodegenerative diseases.
Epicardial adipose tissue thickness and growth differentiation factor 15 in axial spondyloarthritis
Objectives:Toinvestigategrowthdifferentiationfactor-15 (GDF-15) levels and the thickness of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and to evaluate their relationship with functional status, disease activity, disease duration, and the type of medical treatment received by the patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out at Kırşehir Ahievran University School of Medicine between February and June 2020. Twenty-nine healthy controls and 44 patients with axSpA were included in the study. Gender, age, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, GDF-15, body mass index, complete blood count, ejection fraction, the EAT thickness, and C-reactive protein of all participants were recorded. Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life Index, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index, the disease duration, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index, and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index scores of patients with axSpA were noted. Results: Epicardial adipose tissue thickness values (0.35±0.09 cm) in the AxSpA group were higher compared to the control group (0.26±0.06 cm) (p<0.01). Growth differentiation factor-15 levels of the control group and axSpA group were similar. The treatment received by the patients did not have a significant relationship with EAT thickness and GDF-15. Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index scores, disease duration, and age were significantly positively correlated with GDF-15 levels. Conclusion: In this study, EAT thickness values were found to be significantly higher in the axSpA group. In addition, GDF-15 was positively correlated with age, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index score, and disease duration. © 2022 Saudi Arabian Armed Forces Hospital. All rights reserved
Size‑dependent adsorption performance of ZnO nanoclusters for drug delivery applications
We have investigated the size-dependent adsorption performance of ZnO nanoclusters (NCs) as drug delivery carriers for the first time. Our results show that the adsorption energy of the favipiravir drug on the ZnO NCs is predicted in the range of - 26.69 and - 34.27 kcal/mol. The adsorption energy (- 34.27 kcal/mol) between (ZnO)(18) NC and the favipiravir is energetically desirable and more favorable than the other interactions. The size of ZnO NCs and the position of the favipiravir on the ZnO NCs cause a decrease in the energy gap, which makes the charge-transfer process easier. The bonds between O-Zn, N-Zn, and F-Zn atoms exhibit dual covalent and ionic natures. The non-covalent interaction analysis shows that the strongest H-bonds are observed near NH2 within the favipiravir molecule. Finally, the acquired results show that the interaction of ZnO NCs with the favipiravir anticancer drug can have the potential as drug delivery carriers
