Effects of fruit mashes on the quality attributes of duck, goose, and rabbit meat
In this study, the effect of kiwi and pineapple fruit mashes (the source of enzymes actinidin and bromelain, respectively) on the physicochemical, structural, microbiological and sensory characteristics of duck, goose, and rabbit meats was evaluated. Hardness and chewiness significantly decreased (p < 0.01) when the fruit mash was used. Fruit mash treatment increased the tenderness of all meat samples. Microstructure analysis results had supported the changes in texture profile analysis results. The meat samples treated fruit mashes were most preferable, according to the tenderness scores assigned by the panellists. Fruit mashes generally decreased the pH and water holding capacity values compared to control. All the treatments had significantly decreased (p < 0.05) the microorganism counts compared with the control group. In the light of these results, kiwi and pineapple mashes treatment is recommended for preparing and servicing these duck, goose, and rabbit meats
An intelligent system for detecting Mediterranean fruit fly [Medfly; Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann)]
Nowadays, the most critical agriculture-related problem is the harm caused to fruit, vegetable, nut, and flower crops by harmful pests, particularly the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata, named Medfly. Medfly's existence in agricultural fields must be monitored systematically for effective combat against it. Special traps are utilised in the field to catch Medflies which will reveal their presence and applying pesticides at the right time will help reduce their population. A technologically supported automated remote monitoring system should eliminate frequent site visits as a more economical solution. This paper develops a deep learning system that can detect Medfly images on a picture and count their numbers. A particular trap equipped with an integrated camera that can take photos of the sticky band where Medflies are caught daily is utilised. Obtained pictures are then transmitted by an electronic circuit containing a SIM card to the central server where the object detection algorithm runs.
This study employs a faster region-based convolutional neural network (Faster R-CNN) model in identifying trapped Medflies. When Medflies or other insects stick on the trap's sticky band, they spend extraordinary effort trying to release themselves in a panic until they die. Therefore, their shape is badly distorted as their bodies, wings, and legs are buckled. The challenge is that the deep learning system should detect these Medflies of distorted shape with high accuracy. Therefore, it is crucial to utilise pictures containing trapped Medfly images with distorted shapes for training and validation.
In this paper, the success rate in identifying Medflies when other insects are also present is approximately 94%, achieved by the deep learning system training process, owing to the considerable amount of purpose-specific photographic data. This rate may be seen as quite favourable when compared to the success rates provided in the literature.

Assessing and mapping landslide susceptibility using different machine learning methods
The main aim of the present study was to produce and compare landslide susceptibility maps by using five machine learning techniques, namely, artificial neural network (ANN), logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF) and, classification and regression tree (CART). The study area was determined as the Arhavi-Kabisre river basin, a region in which the most landslide incidents occur in Turkey. Firstly, a landslide inventory was produced by identifying a total of 252 landslides. Secondly, a total of 11 landslide conditioning factors were considered for the landslide susceptibility mapping. Subsequently, the five machine learning techniques were constructed with the help of the training dataset for the landslide susceptibility maps. Finally, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC), sensitivity, specificity, F-measure, accuracy and kappa index were applied to compare and validate the performance of the five machine learning techniques
Evaluation of self-esteem, emotional eating, eating attitude, depression and anxiety levels before and after bariatric surgery: a one-year follow-up study
Although there is a consensus in the literature about the effect of bariatric surgery on weight and metabolic variables, its effect on psychological variables is still unclear. Purpose of the research; To examine the effects of bariatric surgery on self-esteem, emotional eating, eating attitudes, depression, situational and chronic anxiety. A single-group pre-test-post-test measurement model was used in the study. The sample group of the research; Volunteer patients who applied to Aksaray University Training and Research Hospital Obesity Clinic for bariatric surgery were formed. Research data were collected using the Sociodemographic Form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Emotional Appetite Scale, Eating Attitude Test, Beck Depression Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Scale I-II data collection tools before and after surgery. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 package program. As a result of this study; At the end of the first year after bariatric surgery, there was a statistically significant decrease in BMI (Body Mass Index) and positive-negative emotional eating desire. In addition, although not statistically significant, an increase in self-esteem; depression, trait and state anxiety levels were decreased. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was observed that there was a relationship between the decrease in BMI and only the depression score. A 1-year follow-up study after bariatric surgery showed significant reductions in BMI and positive and negative emotional eating. Shadow education from shadows to the light: case of basic high schools in Turkey
This study situates how shadow education has become more visible in Turkey after an educational policy change in 2014 that regulated the closure of private tutoring centers ???dershanes- and their transformation into a new type of private school called Basic High School -Temel Lise. In this multiple-case study, we interviewed school stakeholders and observed various processes such as classes and recitation hours at five Basic High Schools in Ankara, Turkey. The findings mainly revealed that Basic High Schools had a dual education structure in which the formal curricula were implemented and students were prepared for the university entrance examination, with an emphasis on the latter. Teaching to test was prioritized in these shadow schools for profit while most of the aspects of school quality were neglected. Further, since these schools were categorized as private schools, the school fee for these schools, although lower than the elite ones, was affordable for middle and high-socio-economic-status families. Such an approach, we conclude, exacerbated existing educational inequalities in Turkey while widening the achievement gap on the university entrance examination between students from different socioeconomic classes. The findings of this study might help educators and policy-makers in the organization of the schooling process at private schools to eliminate educational inequalities while ensuring quality education for all
Comparison of reproductive performance, live weight, survivability, and fleece characteristics of indoor-raised Central Anatolian Merino and Malya sheep
This study was conducted to compare Central Anatolian Merino (CAM) and Malya sheep under intensive conditions in terms of reproductive traits, birth and weaning weights, fattening performance, and some fleece characteristics. In this study, 840 CAM and 194 Malya ewes were used for the comparison of reproductive performance, whereas 740 and 211 lambs were used to compare growth traits between the two breeds. Additionally, the fattening performance of 61 CAM and 68 Malya lambs were compared. Finally, for the comparison of wool quality traits, 94 CAM and 90 Malya lambs were used. The lambs were kept together with the sheep that gave birth to them for 10 days. After this period, lambs were given lamb starter feed, alfalfa hay, and vetch hay in addition to milk. When lambs reached 40 days old, they were taken to the pasture with the sheep. In this period, pasture grass, growing lamb concentrate feed, alfalfa hay, and vetch hay were given in addition to milk. Lambs were weaned when they reached an average age of 90 days, and their live weights were determined. A determined number of lambs was selected from weaned male lambs. For these animals, in the fattening period, barley, alfalfa hay, vetch hay, meadow hay, and lentil straw were provided ad libitum in addition to 400 g/day/head of fattening feed. This study indicated that birth rate was better for CAM sheep than for Malya sheep. However, Malya lambs may have more advantages than CAM lambs in terms of survival and fattening performance. Although birth weight was higher for Malya sheep than for CAM sheep, the opposite result was observed for the weaning weight. The beginning weights of fattened male lambs were higher for CAM lambs than for Malya lambs, but the ending weights of both fattened groups were similar
Subletal akrilamidin omurgali model organizma Cyprinus carpio'da tiroid hormonlarl, tam kan saylml ve mikronükleus frekansl üzerine etkileri
Acrylamide, a widely used chemical in industry, clinical laboratory and waste treatment plants, is considered a carcinogen in humans. The present study examined the hormonal, hematologic, and genotoxic responses in the invertebrate model common carp Cyprinus carpio after exposure to sublethal acrylamide. Fish were exposed to acrylamide at 10 and 50 mg/L for 96 h, along with the respective control group. Serum levels of cortisol and thyroid hormones were measured using diagnostic ELISA direct immunoenzymatic kits. For micronucleus (MN) frequency assay, thin smears of the peripheral blood of fish were prepared. Serum levels of cortisol in both treatment groups considerably increased, which proposed that acrylamide caused a stress reaction of acrylamide exposed fish (p<0.05). Fish demonstrated significant decreases in triiodothyronine (T3), free thyroxine (FT4), and free triiodothyronine (FT3) concentrations in a dose-dependent manner after acrylamide exposure (p<0.05). However, serum thyroxine (T4) concentrations did not alter significantly in the treatment groups. Mean MN frequencies of fish erythrocytes increased significantly in acrylamide exposed groups suggesting that acrylamide is genotoxic in common carp (p<0.05). The hematocrit, hemoglobin, and erythrocyte numbers of carp increased significantly in exposure groups (p<0.05). These results suggested that acrylamide can significantly affect the hemopoietic system. Furthermore, this study confirmed that the widespread use of acrylamide, even in sublethal concentrations, could affect the survival of non-target organisms, especially fish, in aquatic environments

This paper includes four finite element methods which are based on quadratic, cubic, quartic and quintic trigonometric B-spline functions for space discretization and Crank-Nicolson method for time discretization, to be achieved the numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation (SE). The algorithms obtained by different degrees trigonometric B-spline Galerkin methods are new for getting numerical solution of the SE. Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious disease that first began in Wuhan province of China and rapidly spread all over the world in a short time, affecting millions of people. At the beginning, COVID-19 has been reported as a severe respiratory tract disease. During this period, typical signs and symptoms were those expected from a respiratory virus such as fever, cough and dyspnea, as a result of the rapid spread of the virus, affecting more people and increasing number of studies in the literature, it has been noticed that the symptoms can manifest in many ways. In addition to malaise, fatigue, diffuse muscle-joint pain, neurological symptoms such as dizziness, loss of taste and smell were also reported. Commonly reported neurological symptoms such as loss of taste and smell in COVID-19, suggest that cranial nerves may also be affected. In this context, COVID-19 can cause various neurological symptoms including peripheral facial paralysis. In this report, we aimed to present a young male patient with peripheral facial paralysis who was diagnosed with COVID-19, and to make a contribution to neurological symptoms caused by COVID-19.Koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 [coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19)], ilk olarak Çin’in Wuhan kentinden başlayan ve kısa sürede tüm dünyaya yayılarak milyonlarca kişiyi etkileyen oldukça bulaşıcı bir hastalıktır. Başlangıçta COVID-19, şiddetli solunum yolu hastalığı olarak rapor ediliyordu. Bu dönemde tipik belirti ve bulgular ateş, öksürük ve nefes darlığı gibi bir solunum virüsünden beklenebilecek bulgular iken; virüsün hızlı bir şekilde yayılarak daha fazla kişiyi etkilemesi ve zamanla yapılan çalışmaların sayısının artması sonucunda bulguların birçok şekilde ortaya çıkabileceği fark edildi. Hâlsizlik, kırgınlık, yaygın kas-eklem ağrıları yanında baş dönmesi, tat ve koku alma problemleri gibi nörolojik semptomlar da bildirilmiştir. COVID-19’da tat ve koku almada kayıp gibi nörolojik semptomların yaygın olarak bildirilmesi, kranyal sinirlerin de etkileniyor olabileceğini düşündürmektedir. Bu bağlamda COVID-19, periferik yüz felci dâhil olmak üzere çeşitli nörolojik semptomlara neden olabilir. Bu olguda, COVID-19 tanısı konmuş periferik fasiyal paralizili genç bir erkek hastayı sunarak, COVID-19’un sebep olduğu nörolojik belirtilere katkıda bulunmayı amaçladık
