    SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND INVESTIGATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES FROM CYDONIA OBLONGA LEAF

    WOS: 000462830400074In this study, leaf extract of Cydonia oblonga were used to synthesize silver nanoparticles. Silver nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized by environmentally friendly and economical methods. Characterization of synthesized AgNPs used UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis.), thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron diffraction X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). XRD results demonstrated that the crystal structure of AgNPs was cubic and had a size of 27.30 nm. AgNPs were found to be spherical in SEM images. The element composition was also revealed by EDX Antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles; Gram-negative Escherichia coli was tested on gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans yeast. The concentration values of 0.0552, 0.1535 and 0.0383 mg L-1 were determined as MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration), respectively.     Adsorptive performance of magnetic nano?biosorbent for binary dyesand investigation of comparative biosorption.

    The individual and competitive biosorption capacities of Metanil Yellow (MY) and Reactive Black 5 (RB5) by glutaraldehyde cross-linked magnetic chitosan nanoparticles (GMCNs) were studied. Competitive biosorption of the MY and RB5 dyes by the GMCNs has never been reported previously. Fourier transform infrared technique has been used to show the biosorbed MY and RB5 dyes onto GMCNs. During the studies, various essential factors influencing the biosorption, like adsorbate concentration, pH of the solution and contact time have been monitored. The equilibrium was achieved within 17 h for single dyes and 3 h for binary mixture at pH 3. The biosorption capacities were 620 mg/g for dye MY and 2549 mg/g for dye RB5 at pH 3, 30 °C. The second-order kinetic model has good compatibility with the dynamical biosorption behavior of a single dye and binary mixture. In order to study the competition biosorption of the RB5 and MY dyes in mixture solutions, the intraparticle diffusion model was used. Competition biosorption through analysis of the intraparticle diffusion model apparently favored the RB5 dye more than the MY dye on the GMCNs in mixture solutions. The biosorbent was regenerated efficiently through the alkaline solution and was then reused ten times for biosorption–desorption cycles.This project is funded by the financial support from Dicle University Research Fund (DUBAP, 13-ZEF-28, ZGEF.16.008, ZGEF.17.008)

    WOS: 000462830400242The development of stable and adaptable new cultivars are based only on positive results obtained from the interaction between the genotype and the environment. Therefore, the study aimed to test the stability and general adaptability of promising barley lines in terms of grain yield and traits in multi -environments. For this purpose, twelve barley genotypes were used in the study. The trials were carried out with four replications in a random design at seven environments in years 2012-13 and 2013-14. The superior and stable genotypes were identified with GGE biplot and AMMI (Additive main effects and multiplicative interaction) models. The AMMI analysis showed that the major treatment sum of squares was affected by environments (80.6%), GE (14.0%) and genotypes (5.4%), respectively. On the other hand, the first two principal component axes (PCA 1 and PCA 2) contributed to the complete interaction with 88.1%, whereas, PCA 3 and PCA 4 axes only with 12.0%. The GGE biplot indicated that G4 is adaptable for all environments, while Altikat, G2 and G3 showed specific adaptation to El, E3 and E5, G6, G7 and G8 to E6, respectively. According to both techniques, G2, G3, G6, G7, G8 and Altikat were the best genotypes with high yield, whereas G4 was the best with high yield, and stable and general adaptation. The results of biplot indicated that G4 (ARUPO /K8755//MORA/3/CERISE/SHYRIHALEL I/4/CANELA/5/HART-BAR) was recommended for release and it was released as HEVSEL in 2017. On the other hand; G7 and G6 were protected as genetic material to use as parent in breeding programs for yield stability and quality respectively

    İLERİ KADEMEDEKİ ARPA HATLARININ BİPLOT TEKNİĞİ İLE SELEKSİYONU

    Islah proğamlarında uygun bir zamanda ve uygun bir yöntemle yapılan etkili bir seleksiyon başarı oranını artırmaktadır. Belirli aşamalarda verim, verim unsurlarını ve kaliteyi etkileyen kriterlerin bir bütün olarak değerlendirilerek genotiplerde seleksiyonun yapılması satabil çeşitlerin geliştirilmesine katkı sunmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışma, Diyarbakır ilindeyağışa dayalı şartlarda 2010-2011 yetiştirme sezonunda Augmented deneme deseninde ve her birinde 25 parsel bulunan dört blok şeklinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada Ulusal ve uluslararası(ICARDA) melez programlarından elde edilen 80 adet iki ve altı sıralı ileri kademede hat ile birlikte standart olarak bölgede yaygın üretimi yapılan 5 adet tescilli çeşit kullanılmıştır. Augmented deneme deseninde yapılan analizde, incelenen özellikler bakımından genotipler arasında p<0.01 ve 0.05 seviyesinde önemli farklılıklar tespitedilmiştir. Ayrıca GT biplot tekniği ile tüm karakterler birlikte ele alınarak üstün genotipler belirlenmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; başaklanma süresi 105 ile 123 gün, bitki boyu 90 ile 140 cm, hektolitre ağırlığı 57.1 ile 71.1 kg/hl, bin tane ağırlığı 35.0 ile 50.0 g, tane verimi 390.8 ile 872.5 kg/ da arasında değişmiştir. Tane verimi bakımından 7 hat, hektolitre ağırlığı bakımından 15 ve bin tane ağırlığı bakımından 13 hat denemede standart olarak kullanılan çeşitlerden daha yüksek değerlere sahip olurken başaklanma süresi ve bitki boyu bakımındanda genotipler yüksek bir varyasyon göstermiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan hat sayısının fazla olması bu hatlara ait tohum miktarının az olması ve çalışma alanın dar olması durumlarındaAugmented deneme deseninin başarılı bir şekilde yürütülebileceği ve GT biplot tekniği ile görsel olarak isabetli bir seleksiyon yapılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Sonuç olarak incelenen özellikler bakımından kontrol çeşitlerine üstünlük sağlayan 20 adet ileri kademede hat tespit edilmiş ve bu hatların bir ileri generasyona aktarılması uygun görülmüştür

Viyana Kuşatması’ndan sonra Osmanlı İmparatorluğu mağlup olmuş ve imzalanan Karlofça Antlaşması’yla büyük toprak kayıplarına razı ol-mak zorunda kalmıştır. Bu mağlubiyet ve kayıplar sonrasında devletin dış po-litikada önceliği kaybedilen toprakların geri alınması olmuştur. 1711 yılında Osmanlı-Rus savaşı böyle bir vasatta meydana gelmiş ve kazanılan zafer toplumda sevinçle karşılanmıştır. Şairler de bu zafere kayıtsız kalmamış ve birçok şair mezkûr zaferle ilgili tarih düşürmüşler, gerek dönemin padişahı III. Ahmed’e ve gerekse ordunun kumandanı Veziriazam Baltacı Mehmed Paşa’ya kasideler ithaf etmişlerdir. Çalışmamızda Prut Savaşı’nın ve kazanılan zaferin dönemin şairleri için ifade ettiği anlam ve algılanış şekli tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.     Epilepsy Detection by Using Scalogram Based Convolutional Neural Network from EEG Signals

    WOS: 000472660100021PubMed ID: 31109020The studies implemented with Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are progressing very rapidly and brain computer interfaces (BCI) and disease determinations are carried out at certain success rates thanks to new methods developed in this field. The effective use of these signals, especially in disease detection, is very important in terms of both time and cost. Currently, in general, EEG studies are used in addition to conventional methods as well as deep learning networks that have recently achieved great success. The most important reason for this is that in conventional methods, increasing classification accuracy is based on too many human efforts as EEG is being processed, obtaining the features is the most important step. This stage is based on both the time-consuming and the investigation of many feature methods. Therefore, there is a need for methods that do not require human effort in this area and can learn the features themselves. Based on that, two-dimensional (2D) frequency-time scalograms were obtained in this study by applying Continuous Wavelet Transform to EEG records containing five different classes. Convolutional Neural Network structure was used to learn the properties of these scalogram images and the classification performance of the structure was compared with the studies in the literature. In order to compare the performance of the proposed method, the data set of the University of Bonn was used. The data set consists of five EEG records containing healthy and epilepsy disease which are labeled as A, B, C, D, and E. In the study, A-E and B-E data sets were classified as 99.50%, A-D and B-D data sets were classified as 100% in binary classifications, A-D-E data sets were 99.00% in triple classification, A-C-D-E data sets were 90.50%, B-C-D-E data sets were 91.50% in quaternary classification, and A-B-C-D-E data sets were in the fifth class classification with an accuracy of 93.60%

    Animal remains of Alaybeyi Höyük

    This paper presents the zooarchaeological observations on animal remains of Alaybeyi Höyük unearthed from 2016 and 2017 excavation sessions. Dated to 4721–4553 cal. BC, Alaybeyi stands so far as the oldest archaeological settlement discovered in northeast Anatolia. Therefore, the faunal assemblage at Alaybeyi offers great opportunity to study the status of animals and their relationships with humans in the largely unexplored Kars-Erzurum plateau covering a period from the Chalcolithic to Late Iron Age. Taxonomic and osteometric analyses show that, like the present day, cattle were dominant over caprines, revealing extensive cattle pastoralism in the region for at least about 7 millennia. While caprines too were significant in the subsistence strategy of local humans, there was not any sign of raising pigs. Significant numbers of wild species including carnivores, aquatic mammals, and rodents, as well as resident and migratory birds, were also hunted by Alaybeyi people. Additionally, horse burials, horse cult, dog burials, and a rich number of dog bones present animals as versatile actors in various ritual and symbolic practices at the site

    Phytoextraction of Nickel Contaminated Soil with Citric Acid and Humic Acid treatments using Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Plant

    In this study, the removal possibilities of Ni from contaminated soil using perennial rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) plants were investigated. This decontamination process was conducted adding citric acid (C6H8O7) and humic acid. Increasing dose of Ni (0, 50, 100, 200 and 400mg Ni kg-1), 0.005mM citric acid and 2% humic acid were added to the test soil in the pots and incubated under controlled conditions for a month. The seedlings of rosemary plant were transferred to the pots and they were grown for 45 days. At the end of the experiments, dry weight of plant tissues and the concentrations of Ni, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), and copper (Cu) were determined. The treatments of citric acid and humic acid were increased the Ni uptake of plants. As a result of the experiments, it has been determined that the rosemary plant has accumulated 189μg plant-1 in 400mg Ni kg-1 application, and 246g plant-1 in 400mg Ni kg-1 + citric acid application and 216μg plant-1 in 400mg Ni kg-1 + humic acid application. The results showed that the rosemary plant has the potential phytoextractor plant in decontamination process with citric acid and humic acid
