The impact of social media use on restaurant choice
This paper aims to examine the impact of social media use on consumers’ restaurant choices. It presents data from a questionnaire developed for examining social media use and restaurant choice on a trip and home. Exploratory factor analysis was performed to explore the underlying theoretical structure of the phenomena. Four social media use factors were extracted. Then the measurement model and the structural model were tested. Findings show that three social media use factors (searching for services, social interactions, and searching for products) influenced individuals’ restaurant choices on the trip (more) and at home. Based on the results, restaurants should appear more on social media. Restaurants are recommended to share the ambiance, foods, and menus on social media frequently
Synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles decorated polydopamine coated hexagonal boron nitride and its effect on wound healing
Background: Wound healing is an essential physiological process involving many cell types and their products acting in a marvellous harmony to repair damaged tissues. During the healing process, cellular proliferation and extracellular matrix remodelling stages could be interrupted by undesired factors including microorganisms and altered metabolic activities. In such a case, the process requires some external stimulants to accelerate or remediate the healing stages.
Methods: In this study, we report a multifunctional wound healing stimulating agent. In this context, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and polydopamine(pdopa) were used through mussel-inspired chemistry of dopamine to obtain pdopa coated hBN (hBN@pdopa) and AgNPs decorated hBN@pdopa (hBN@pdopa-AgNPs). These two nanostructures were investigated to observe stages of healing.
Results: AgNPs were chosen for inflammation reduction and hBN for induced cell proliferation and migration. In in vitro experiments, firstly, high cellular uptake capacity and biocompatibility of hBN@pdopa and hBN@pdopa-AgNPs were evaluated. They were also tested for their reaction against increased concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in injured cells. Finally, their effect on cellular migration, intracellular tube formation and F-actin organization were monitored by light and confocal microscopy, respectively.
Conclusion: The results clearly indicate that the hBN@pdopa-AgNPs significantly decrease ROS production, promote wound closure, and reorganize tube formation in cells
Distance education amid a pandemic: Which psycho-demographic variables affect students in higher education?
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a rapid transition from face-to-face to distance learning. The problems caused by this rapid transition are combined with the negative psychological outcomes of the pandemic, leading to numerous problems and difficulties in the teaching and learning processes. The recentness of these issues and developments requires detailed investigation as to how they affect distance learning. This study aims to investigate the role of psycho-demographic variables in the motivation and attendance of higher education students in distance education within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this descriptive study, we collected data from 1494 Turkish university students via an online survey. Quantitative data were analysed using correlation analysis, t test, one-way ANOVA, multiple linear regression analysis, and structural equation modelling. Stress, anxiety, depression and intolerance of uncertainty were correlated negatively with distance learning motivation and frequency of distance learning attendance. While students who attended distance learning only synchronously joined the courses more frequently, the motivation of those who joined the courses sometimes synchronously and sometimes asynchronously was higher. The strength of the relationships between intolerance of uncertainty and distance learning motivation was significantly increased via anxiety and depression. Findings highlight the need for analysis of psycho-demographic variables while designing and implementing distance education programmes. Psychological variables including stress, anxiety and depression are related to motivation and attendance during distance education. While using both synchronous and asynchronous distance learning enhances motivation, synchronous learning increases attendance
Entrepreneurship in Crisis: The Determinants of Syrian Refugees' Entrepreneurial Intentions in Turkey
This study aims to identify the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among Syrian refugees in Turkey. The research, based on planned behaviour theory, focused on the impact of the refugee context on those intentions and thus on the attitudes and behaviour of entrepreneurs. The study is based on the positivist paradigm, and a quantitative methodology was used to collect data. We preferred the method of convenience sampling and chose 122 entrepreneurial projects at the beginning of 2020. The results show that psychological characteristics have no significant impact. Motivation, conviction, and independence are not sufficient conditions for the choice of an entrepreneurial profession. Self-standards do not affect the entrepreneurial intentions of refugees, as support from family and friends may not be sufficient reason to engage in an entrepreneurial project. However, entrepreneurship emerged among the refugees distinguished by perseverance, efficiency, a spirit of innovation, prior experience, adequate perceptions of barriers, and having the resources needed to implement projects. The refugee context has a negative emotional impact on entrepreneurship for reasons related to conditions of instability, language difficulties, the need for capital to invest, and a lack of entrepreneurial knowledge. The research findings can be used to support the role of humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, and host governments in developing a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial intentions in the refugee context. © 2021 by the authors. Experimental and theoretical investigation of pyrazinecarboxamide against mild steel corrosion
Pyrazinecarboxamide was examined against mild steel corrosion in 0.5 M HCl solution. The electrochemical techniques like electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, linear polarization resistance and potentiodynamic polarization measurements were carried out in the presence of various concentrations of pyrazinecarboxamide ranging from 0.25 mM to 1.0 mM. The inhibition effect of pyrazinecarboxamide on the mild steel surface was studied by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The adsorption of this inhibitor was determined to fit Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The adsorption/desorption equilibrium constant was calculated as 2.985 × 104 M−1, indicating that high proportion of pyrazinecarboxamide takes place on mild steel surface. The inhibition efficiency was found as 93.5% from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement in an acid solution containing 1.0 mM pyrazinecarboxamide. Quantum chemical parameters that were in good agreement with experimental results were determined by density functional theory
Overtourism: Tourism Management and Solutions
In recent years, many tourism destinations have faced the problem known as “overtourism”, including several European destinations that face critical issues in developing solutions to cope with the issues they experience. Cities ensure visitors have a wide variety of facilities to interest them, but this can result in attracting too many tourists (Koens, Postma, & Papp, 2018), resulting in significant pressures and rapid urbanisation. The recent growth of tourism in urban areas has brought about a substantially increased demand for urban tourism (UNWTO, 2018). The overtourism phenomenon is defined by Milano, Cheer, and Novelli (2018) as, “the excessive growth of visitors leading to overcrowding in areas where residents suffer the consequences of temporary and seasonal tourism peaks, which have enforced permanent changes to their lifestyles, access to amenities and well-being”. As a result, a drastic shift has been seen in the perceptions of local people of tourism in many destinations due to mass tourism, which has become a significant problem for local residents who react by protesting in the streets (Goodwin, 2017)
Ergativity in the Zaza Language
Ergativity and its effect on sentences is one of the big differences between languages. Ergativity has no effect on languages such as Persian, but in Zaza language still continues. However, Zazaki is not a fully ergative language either. In Zaza language, ergativity is only in the past, and in this sense, Zazaki is a semi-ergative language. The aim of this study is to explain the ergativity in Zaza language. In the study, sometimes Zazaki and Kurmanci are given comparatively. In Zaza language, the archaic features of the old languages have remained and preserved. In the study, ergativity will be explained depending on transitive and intransitive verb conjugations. In this study, standard Zaza language is used. Because in some dialects, ergativity disappears

Justifications for the Spanish Invasion of North Africa (16th Century)
The process called Reconquista (Reconquest) in history of Spain succeeded with the occupation of Granada (1492). In order to prevent its lands from becoming "Andalusia" again, the Spanish government established the country's lines of defense outside the country in North Africa. Considering religious, commercial, political and military reasons a limited occupation policy was implemented in North Africa. Places on strategic North African coasts such as Ceuta, Melilla, Oran and Merselkebir were occupied, and military garrisons (Presedios/Plazas) were established here. With the help of these garrisons, the Spain's Mediterranean and Atlantic trade has been secured for decades
