PARENTAL OPINIONS ON ACHIEVING MATH SKILLS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD
Araştırmada, okul öncesi dönemde çocuğu bulunan ebeveynlerin erken matematik becerileri kazanımı ile ilgili görüşlerinin ortaya koyulması amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda katılımcıların erken çocukluk döneminde matematik eğitiminin önemi, evde çocukların matematik becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik çalışmaları, anne babaların ve öğretmenlerin sorumlulukları, ebeveynlerin matematik becerilerini kazandırmaya ilişkin aldıkları eğitimler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden Odak (Focus) grup görüşmesi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu, Mardin ili Artuklu ilçesi Altınkoza anaokuluna çocuğunu gönderen 7’si kadın, 3’ü erkek, toplam 10 ebeveyn oluşturmaktadır. Görüşme, moderatör başkanlığında ve üç gözlemci ile 60 dakikalık bir oturumda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılara görüşmenin amacı açıklandıktan sonra, daha önceden hazırlanan açık uçlu sorular yöneltilmiş ve aktif katılıma özen gösterilmiştir. Görüşmede katılımcılardan izin alınarak ses kaydı alınmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde içerik analizi yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda erken çocukluk dönem ebeveynlerinin erken matematik becerilerinin kazanımı hakkındaki görüşlerinin olumlu olduğu görülmüştür. Ebeveynlerin bu becerileri kazandırma konusunda önemli sorumlulukları olduğunu düşündükleri, fakat yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları için eğitim almak istedikleri belirlenmiştir
PROSOSYAL SESSİZLİK VE ÖRGÜTSEL GÜVEN ALGISININ ÖRGÜTSEL BAĞLILIĞA ETKİSİNDE ÖRGÜTSEL PRESTİJ ALGISININ ARACI ROLÜ: BİR ALAN ÇALIŞMASI
Bu araştırmanın amacı; prososyal sessizlik ve örgütsel güvenin örgütsel bağlılığa etkisinde algılanan örgütsel prestijin etkisinin olup olmadığının tespit edilmesidir. Araştırmanın evrenini 2021 yılında Türkiye’deki banka çalışanları oluşturmaktadır. Bu evren dahilinde kolayda örneklem yöntemiyle örneklem olarak 529 banka çalışanına ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma amacına uygun olarak anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Oluşturulan anket formu beş bölümden oluşmuştur. Birinci bölümde yedi ifade ile demografik bilgilerin toplanması hedeflenmiştir. İkinci bölümde örgütsel bağlılığı tespit etmek üzere onsekiz ifade yer almıştır. Örgütsel bağlılık duygusal, devam ve normatif bağlılık boyutlarından oluşmaktadır. Her boyut altı ifade ile ölçülecek şekilde ifadelerden oluşmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde örgütsel güven ölçeği bilişsel boyut yedi ve duygusal boyut beş olmak üzere toplam on iki ifade ile ölçülmüştür. Dördüncü bölümde çalışanların prososyal sessizlik algılarını belirlemeye yönelik beş ifadeden oluşan ölçek yer almaktadır. Beşinci ve son bölümde ise çalışanların örgütsel prestij algılarını tespit etmeye yönelik sekiz ifade bulunmaktadır. Anket formundan elde edilen veriler analiz edilerek oluşturulan hipotezler sınanmıştır.
Elde edilen bulgulara göre prososyal sessizliğin örgütsel prestij algısını pozitif yönde etkilediği, örgütsel bağlılık alt boyutlarını etkilemediği, ancak örgütsel prestij algının modele aracı değişken olarak eklendiğinde örgütsel prestij algısının tam aracı değişken etkisi gösterdiği görülmüştür. Örgütsel güven alt boyularından bilişsel güvenin örgütsel bağlılık alt boyutlarını pozitif yönde etkilediği, duygusal güvenin ise sadece devam bağlılığını pozitif yönde etkilediği ve duygusal güvenin örgütsel prestij algısını pozitif yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Örgütsel güven alt boyutlarının örgütsel bağlılığa etkisinde örgütsel prestij algısının aracı değişken rolü için ise bilişsel güven ile duygusal bağlılık ile kurulan modelde örgütsel prestij algısı kısmi aracı değişken ve duygusal güven ile duygusal bağlılık ile kurulan modelde örgütsel prestij algısı tam aracı değişen rolü üstlenmiştir
DOES DYNED AFFECT STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES AND LANGUAGE SKILLS IN EFL? A CASE STUDY
Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) is one of the developing approaches that can assist to improve the language skills (reading, writing, listening) of students in English as a foreign language (EFL). CALL has been used to teach EFL learners through language drills or skills practice to stimulate discussion and interaction, or as a tool to improve writing and research. This study aims to point out the effects of DynEd on attitudes and language skills in EFL of middle school students in Turkey. The study contributes to the area of EFL learning and fosters students’ perceptions of EFL. The sample of this study, which utilized an ex-post facto design, recruited 136 middle school students as participants. According to the results, it can be said that, in addition to the conventional teaching environment, the use of DynEd significantly improved both the language skills and attitudes of the students in EFL. However, DynEd did not make any difference in students’ attitudes towards EFL according to grade level and gender. Moreover, students using DynEd have expressed positive views about DynEd
Identify of macro and trace elements in grain of some barley varieties and interpretation zwith biplot technique
The purpose of this study was to determine the content of some macro
and trace elements in grain of spring barley cultivars, and to state the
relationships between those elements. In this study macro and trace elements (Ca,
K, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Si, Sn, Cu, Cr, Cd, Ni, V, Pb, As and Se) of barley cultivars
were determined by inductively coupled plasma optic emission spektometry
(ICP-OES) using grain. The grain samples were digested by microwave system,
as well as. As and Se were determined by hydride system. The result of study
showed that the content Si of barley cultivars are quite high, however, the
concentrations toxic heavy metals of Cd, Pb and as were determined to be below
the limit values.
The biplot indicated that three group occurred among macro and trace
element and the correlation of Zn with Sn, Cr with Ca and Fe, Ca with Fe and Pb
was significant and positively, while V with Si was significant and negatively. On
the other hand, the study showed that Samyeli is the best cultivar based on macro
and trace element concentrations and this variety can be used in animal
husbandry
Characterization and pathogenicity of Pythium-like species associated with root and collar rot of kiwifruit in Turkey
During the period of June to October in 2018, a widespread decline was observed on kiwifruit vines in the vineyards located in Altınordu, Fatsa, and Perşembe districts of Ordu province. The symptoms were associated with reddish-brown rots expanding from the root to the collar with sparse off-color foliage. Based on the percentage of the total infected samples across 18 vineyards, the most common oomycete species were Globisporangium intermedium (37.1%), Phytopythium vexans (34.3%), G. sylvaticum (14.3%), G. heterothallicum (11.4%), and Pythium dissotocum (2.9%). The morphological identification of isolates was confirmed based on partial DNA sequences containing the nuclear rDNA internal transcribed spacer region (rDNA ITS) and the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit II (coxII) gene. The optimum growth temperature and the optimum pH of 5 species ranged from 22.98 to 28.25°C and 5.67 to 8.51, respectively. Pathogenicity tests on the seedlings of kiwifruit cv. Hayward revealed significant differences in virulence among isolates. Phytopythium vexans and G. sylvaticum isolates caused severe root and collar rot resulting in seedling death, while G. heterothallicum and G. intermedium isolates had relatively lower virulence. All Globisporangium spp. and P. vexans isolates significantly decreased plant growth parameters (plant height, shoot and root dry weights and root length); however, P. dissotocum caused very mild symptoms and did not affect these parameters of growth. To our knowledge, this is the first study reporting G. sylvaticum, G. heterothallicum, and G. intermedium causing root and collar rot on kiwifruit not only in Turkey but also in the world
Development of Armillae mellea immobilized nanodiamond for the preconcentrations of Cr(III), Hg(II) and Zn(II)
In this study, we present an environmental friend and easy procedure for simultaneous preconcentration of Cr(III), Hg(II) and Zn(II) by solid-phase extraction before their determination by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. Armillae mellea immobilized nanodiamond was used as sorbent. During the study, critical parameters influencing the extraction performance were investigated in detail. The best parameters were found as pH 5.0, 2.0 mL min−1 of flow rate, 200 mg of Armillae mellea, 300 mL of sample volume. LOD values were found as 0.025, 0.13 and 0.038 ng mL−1, respectively for Cr(III), Hg(II) and Zn(II). By applying the developed procedure, sensitivities of ICP-OES were improved for 60 fold for Cr(III), Hg(II) and Zn(II). Their concentrations in different food samples were measured after microwave digestion and solid-phase extraction
Germination, seedling growth and physio-biochemical indices of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum l.) genotypes under peg induced drought stress
The establishment of seedlings at early growth stages of plants is one of the
important determinants for higher yield potential under stress conditions.
Therefore, high germination rate and vigorous seedling growth under water stress
conditions is preferred to increase productivity. Considering this issue, an
experiment was conducted to know the response of drought stress on the
germination and seedling growth traits of available wheat cultivars. The study
was carried out at the Laboratory of Horticulture in Agriculture Faculty,
Cukurova University, Turkey. Seeds of five bread wheat genotypes viz. Wafia,
Lucilla, Envoy, DZ19-2 and DZ19-1 were placed and grown in Petri-dishes under
polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) induced drought stresses of 0 (control=distilled
water), -0.2, -0.4 and -0.6 MPa conditions for evaluation the properties of
germination and seedling growth. Regarding the root length and dry weight, the
genotypes Wafia, Lucilla and DZ19-1were found superior and seemed to be
relatively tolerant to drought stress over other genotypes. Regarding biochemical
analysis, the proline content increased with increasing drought levels, where the
maximum proline was observed in the DZ19-1 genotype. Due to drought stress,
the shoot proline content increased in drought-tolerant wheat genotypes whereas
the proline level decreased in the sensitive ones compared to the control.
Considering the study, the genotype DZ19-1 can be treated as drought tolerant
genotype, and further investigations are needed, however, to support our
understanding of the drought stress effects during the whole life cycle of wheat
Facile synthesis and comprehensive characterization of Ni-decorated amine groups-immobilized Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic nanoparticles having enhanced solar cell efficiency
In this study, the synthesis and comprehensive characterization of Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) immobilized with L-Arginine decorated with nickel (Ni) was achieved, and their ability in solar cell efficiency was evaluated. Fe3O4, Fe3O4@SiO2, Fe3O4@SiO2@L-Arginine and Fe3O4@SiO2@L-Arginine-Ni MNPs were prepared by co-precipitation and sol-gel methods. The structural, morphological, optical and textural properties of the prepared MNPs were clarified by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Energy-Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) analyzes. From the BET data, it is understood that the specific surface area of the prepared Fe3O4, Fe3O4@SiO2 and Fe3O4@SiO2@L–Arginine MNPs is 60.85, 28.99 and 29.84 m2/g, respectively. From the pore size distribution determined by Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) method, it was understood that the pore radius of Fe3O4, Fe3O4@SiO2 and Fe3O4@SiO2@L–Arginine MNPs were in the range of mesopore and the average pore radius was equal to approximately 11.03, 9.11 and 28.45 nm, respectively. It is assumed that the half pore widths calculated by the density functional theory (DFT) method of the prepared of Fe3O4, Fe3O4@SiO2 and Fe3O4@SiO2@L-Arginine MNPs are 5.58, ∼ 0.88, and ∼ 17.98 nm, respectively. The energy band gap of the prepared MNPs with spinel structure was determined as approximately 3.10 eV. In addition to the structural, morphological, optical and textural properties, the photovoltaic properties of the prepared MNPs were examined. Au/CuO/Fe3O4@SiO2@L–Arginine-Ni/ZnO/SnO2:F solar cell device was created by using existing Fe3O4@SiO2@L–Arginine-Ni MNPs as buffer layer. The power conversion efficiency (%) of the prepared Fe3O4@SiO2@L–Arginine-Ni MNPs based solar cell device was calculated as 1.84 %. This numerical result shows that the prepared Fe3O4@SiO2@L-Arginine-Ni MNPs can be used as a promising buffer layer in a solar structure.This project is funded by the financial support from Mardin Artuklu University (Project No. MAU.BAP.18.SHMYO.030)
Classification of electroencephalogram records related to cursor movements with a hybrid method based on deep learning
In brain computer interface (BCI), many transformation methods are used whenprocessing electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Thus, the EEG can be represen-ted in different domains. However, designing an EEG-based BCI system withoutany transformation technique is a challenge. For this purpose, in this study, aBCI model is proposed without any transformation. The classification of cursordown and cursor up movements using the EEG signals received from the brain isaimed at in the proposed model. The EEG patterns were classified using twomethods. Firstly, EEG signals were classified by classic convolutional neural net-work (CNN). Secondly, proposed hybrid structure obtained the EEG features,which were classified by k-NN and SVM, using CNN. Classification with CNNarchitecture gave a result of 68.15% while the hybrid method using k-NN andSVM classifiers yielded 97.55% and 97.61% respectively. The hybrid proposedmethod were more successful than the studies in the literature
