Sales of over-the-counter (OTC) codeine-containing products in 31 countries, 2013-2019

    No full text
The prescribing of opioids has increased [1], but it is not known whether codeine-containing medicines sold over-the-counter (OTC) are following similar trends to prescribed opioids. Products containing codeine, an opioid related to morphine, have been associated with dependence, death, and collateral toxicity from combinations with paracetamol and ibuprofen [2,3]. However, access to granular data on OTC sales is limited. The full picture of the growing opioid problem will not be known until both prescription and OTC data on opioid sales are evaluated. Regulation of codeine-containing products varies across the world. In the UK, combination products called co-codamol, containing 8 mg of codeine (a low dose) and 500 mg of paracetamol, can be purchased without a prescription from pharmacies. However, 15 of the 28 European Union member countries do not allow codeine to be sold OTC [4]. More recently, Australia and Manitoba, Canada, changed the status of codeine-containing medicines to prescription-only [5,6]. Thus, there is building pressure to upregulate and restrict access to OTC codeine products. To the best of our knowledge, data on sales of OTC codeine medicines have not been described before. Thus, the aim of our repeat cross-sectional observational study is to describe national sales of over-the-counter (OTC) codeine-containing products purchased from pharmacies across 31 countries between 2013 and 2019. Our objectives are: 1. to determine the total volume (e.g. number of tablets) of OTC codeine-containing products purchased nationally each year, adjusted for population; 2. to determine the total public expenditure (converted to GBP, £ sterling as of 20/09/3019) of OTC codeine-containing products purchased nationally each year; and 3. to assess trends in volume and public expenditure nationally from 2013 to 2019

Impact of mindfulness on emotion perception bias and prosocial behaviour

    No full text
The aim of the present study is examining the impact of mindfulness on emotion perception bias and prosocial behaviour. We will analyse whether a brief mindfulness induction reduces emotion perception bias toward Moroccan angry faces and Dutch happy faces and enhances prosocial behaviour toward Dutch and Moroccan crowdfunding causes. It is expected that after 7-minutes mindfulness induction participants: a) will show less angry facial recognition advantage for Moroccans and less happy facial recognition speed advantage for Dutch and b) greater general monetary donations and less differentiation of donations between Dutch and Moroccan crowdfunding causes. Additionally, we will analyse whether dispositional mindfulness predicts less emotion perception bias toward Moroccan angry faces and happy Dutch faces

Banyuwangi Airport is an airport located on the eastern tip of the island of Java. Local training is a special path designed with the aim of facilitating the regulation of flight traffic flow required in the provision of air traffic control services. Local training Silir Stopan, Plengkung, Sambirejo, and Panggang Bay areas are areas used to practice flying. These local training areas have reference point borders that are different from their coordinates and are close to other local training areas. There are instances where the distance between the two local training areas is used unsafely. Therefore, to overcome obstacles or disturbances in the implementation of flight training, it is necessary to update the training area following applicable regulations so that flight training activities can be carried out optimally, safely and ensure safety in accordance with the boundaries and coordinates.  The method used is the Research and Development Level 1 research method. The population in this study are ATC personnel at Perum LPPNPI Banyuwangi Branch, ATC expert lecturers, Flight Instructors, and PANS-OPS experts. Therefore, the author will research to design an update of the local training area as a place to practice flying and maintain the safety of the function of an AT

Airplanes are a means of air transportation that is fast, precise, guarantees safety and saves time. Cessna aircraft are one of the aircraft in demand by passengers in remote areas in Indonesia. This aircraft has a braking system with one of its components being the brake lining. Brake lining is one of the most important components in the brake system that functions to stop the aircraft. In this study, a prototype brake lining was made from Metal Matrix Composite (MMC). MMC made this brake lining prototype through a powder metallurgy process with the initial process of the powder being weighed, mixed, compacted, and heated with argon sintering at a temperature of 700oC called the green body. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the green body brake lining with a pressure of 117 MPa and a sintering temperature of 700oC. The results of this study are the hardness value of the green body 41.26 HRB is a Cu alloy with soft material properties and will increase in hardness if with heat treatment such as quenching, tempering, or annealing. The results of the wear test of 0.000550 mm³/kgm are in the category of materials that have good wear resistance. The effect of the sintering process on the characteristics of MMC materials is to increase tensile strength, hardness, and toughness. MMC by improving the microstructure, can increase density, and reduce porosity in MMC
