M for Mature
No full text“M for Mature” is an autobiographical manifesto written, produced, and mixed by NOMAD, a multi-genre’d artist with heavy influences from R&B, hip hop, and alternative rock. As an emerging artist, NOMAD embarks on a journey of discovering and shaping his musical signature through the lens of self-reflection and maturation. Through a conscious effort of being raw and personal, he invites the listener into his world view, his upbringing, and most importantly his musical taste. “M for Mature” showcases NOMAD’s skills as a singer, guitarist, and producer. With a combination of analog processing and digital sound design, he demonstrates a proficiency in traditional songwriting and recording while breaking boundaries by combining legacy techniques with experimentation in the digital domain. No full textThe “Positive” EP is a five-track original music project that explores the concept of holistic health through storytelling and sound. It draws from Sean’s background as a medical professional to emphasise the importance of physical, mental and emotional health. Each track addresses a different component of well-being, with themes ranging from anxiety and resilience to love and stigma around HIV positivity. Stylistically, the EP blends folk and jazz elements, employing ambient sounds, minimalistic arrangements, and rich vocal layering to deliver a poignant, immersive experience. The work reflects the artist’s newly acquired production skills in mixing, mastering, vocal processing, and media editing, gained during a rigorous academic course. Rising from the Roots: A Call for Empowerment in My Home Country, Slovakia
No full textIn her Culminating Experience Rising from the Roots, Slovak flutist, singer, and composer Mária Reháková fused Slovak folk music with Global Jazz to explore national identity, cultural resilience, and music as a tool for social change. The project involved in-depth research into Slovak folklore and the contemporary political context, compositional development using jazz techniques such as rhythmic layering, zero gravity, and comprovisation, and collaboration with a diverse ensemble of improvising musicians. Visual artworks created in partnership with Slovak painter Pavol Rehák accompanied the project, contributing to its multidisciplinary character. The work resulted in five original compositions, a studio recording, and a public presentation combining music and visual storytelling. It demonstrated how traditional music can be reimagined through a global jazz language, offering a new model for culturally rooted, socially engaged jazz. The project also led to significant personal transformation, deepening the artist’s understanding of Slovak heritage and the healing potential of music. No full textDespite the multitude of meditation and mindfulness techniques available, Vedic chants adhere to the original intonation and melody rules outlined in the Vedic Scriptures, preserving the healing properties of the mantras. This rendition is particularly unique in its aim to resonate with a global audience. Combining ancient mantra chants with western musical styles enhances the appeal and accessibility of the chants. This fusion also paves the way for further exploration within the Vedic musical genre. This outcome would stem from thorough investigation into the principles of mantra chanting and the Sanskrit Language, alongside the endeavor to harmoniously integrate Western music with the Vedic music genre. Additionally, the music video presentation will assist those who wish to follow the lyrics by providing a visual accompaniment. The Heron’s Journey: Scoring the Animated film El Salto de la Rana
No full textThe Heron’s Journey is an original score for the animated short film: El Salto de la Rana. It was composed as part of the Culminating Experience in Berklee Valencia Campus and in collaboration with UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València, Máster en Animación). In this thesis paper, I aim to describe every step of bringing the story and the character of the titular Heron to life through a musical tapestry. First, by analyzing the film, finding meaning in the characters’ struggles and understanding their world. Then, by breaking down my compositional approach and orchestrational references while creating the sound. Through these I describe the preparation and events that led up to the session, the out-of-this-world experience of recording in the Air Studios, Lyndhurst Hall and finally mixing the session in order to bring all elements together.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-scoring/1321/thumbnail.jp
The Role of Music in Public Health
Get PDFMusic is emerging as a critical yet underutilized determinant of public health. Evidence demonstrates that music-based interventions reduce hospital stays, medication use, and staff burnout while improving patient outcomes, caregiver well-being, and population-level health indicators. Despite these proven benefits, the field remains fragmented and underfunded, limiting its capacity to scale. This paper reframes music as a pillar of public health and argues for systems-level investment in infrastructure, workforce development, and cross-sector innovation. Drawing on the work of the Berklee Music and Health Institute, we highlight how translational research, accessible evidence tools, and interdisciplinary training are advancing equity-driven, sustainable approaches to health. By positioning music not as enrichment but as an evidence-based, cost-effective strategy, we identify pathways for integrating music into public health policy and practice—demonstrating its potential to transform care delivery, reduce disparities, and build healthier, more connected communities

Using a symphonic fusion score merging blues, jazz, gospel, r&b and hip hop, this musical invited listeners into a vivid world of art, language and legacy.
