    Sapiens: Exploring the Human Conflict

    No full text
Sapiens is an orchestral piece that traces the journey of humanity—from the rise of consciousness to the critical crossroads we now face with the emergence of advanced technology. Structured in four acts and based on an original script written specifically for this CE project, the work explores pivotal moments in our evolutionary story. This paper documents the entire creative process: from the initial concept and scriptwriting, to scoring the music, preparing materials for recording, and mixing the final piece. It concludes with a reflection on our role as a species in an increasingly automated world, asking whether we will give in to the alienating forces of our own technological creations or enter a new renaissance that moves us into the next phase of human evolution.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-scoring/1308/thumbnail.jp

Omstead O’s is a five-song EP created as the Culminating Experience for the Songwriting and Production Master’s Program at BerkleeNYC. Released under Jack Omstead’s artist name and brand, Born Dude, the project fuses playful pop songwriting, emotional storytelling, and a nostalgic-yet-modern sound influenced by early 2010s pop and hip-hop. More than just a musical project, Omstead O’s comes to life through a custom-designed cereal box and cassette tape, forming a tactile, collectible experience. At its core, the project celebrates the joy, curiosity, and excitement often associated with youth. It stands as both a creative milestone and a launchpad for a larger vision where music and branding intersect to evoke real emotion. Over the course of ten months, Jack’s sonic identity took shape through consistent work both inside and outside of class. Nearly 100 songs were worked on during this period, resulting in a confident selection of tracks presented in Omstead O’s. Jack wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered all five songs while also designing the visual and physical components. This hands-on, multi-disciplinary approach allowed him to build a fully realized world around the music. The project showcases Jack’s commitment to storytelling across mediums and lays the foundation for future work that blends sound, design, and identity into a cohesive, immersive experience.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1163/thumbnail.jp

    Inner Peace

    No full text
Inner Peace is a five-song EP that explores themes of self-acceptance, emotional growth, and personal freedom. Drawing from R&B, neo-soul, and alternative influences, this project integrates warm, groove-driven production with introspective songwriting. Each track represents a unique stage of an emotional journey, moving from moments of conflict and vulnerability to empowerment and inner resolution. As the sole producer, songwriter, and mixing engineer, I crafted this EP to showcase my multi-instrumental abilities and my capacity to build cohesive sonic narratives. I performed and recorded piano, bass, guitar, and analog synthesizers throughout the project, blending live instrumentation with modern electronic textures. The production process involved detailed arrangement, vocal recording, drum engineering, and creative mixing techniques to shape a distinctive sound for each song while maintaining a unified artistic identity. Inner Peace aims to connect with listeners on a deeply personal level, offering both groove and space for emotional reflection. This project serves as a culmination of my artistic growth and technical development throughout my studies.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1117/thumbnail.jp

“Feat. my wife, my friends, my room, and me” is a producer project by Chong Heng Li, created under the artist profile NeoC. Collaborating with various artists, Heng Li produced their vocals and crafted the songs for this project. Its intention is to explore and express the multifaceted relationships and emotions between the artist and his subjects of affection, as reflected in the title. The lyrics are written with intentional poetic clarity—soft, delicate, and vulnerable, yet grounded in a resilient and courageous outlook on growth and change. Musically, the project blends melodic bass and math rock, emphasizing the slower tempos of these genres, diverging from their typically faster pace.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1121/thumbnail.jp

    The Boy My Momma Raised

    No full text
The Boy My Momma Raised is a project created by Daniel Oh during his time at Berklee NYC that allows the listener to grow with the artist as they traverse it. The choice of the word “Boy” in the title creates a disconnect between the boy Daniel was and the man he has become. This difference in identity from the history of an individual to who they actually are and who they desire to be is the basis for the project. By having a journey for the listener to experience, The Boy My Momma Raised gives the listener a space to accept where they are in life but to experience again their own growth and journey. Depending on what the listener needs, they can sit with a period of their life and grow up at their own pace as they traverse the project.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1162/thumbnail.jp

Sunflower of Europe: The Resilience of Ukrainian Nature through the Prism of Music, Art, and Poetry is a multimedia composition project that explores Ukrainian identity, resistance, and cultural survival in the face of war. Drawing on jazz composition, Ukrainian folk music, visual media, and the poetry of Taras Shevchenko, the project reflects a personal journey shaped by the artist’s half-Ukrainian heritage and emotional response to the ongoing conflict. Through original compositions, improvisation, and curated imagery, the work expresses both collective trauma and enduring hope, positioning art as a vessel for memory, empathy, and healing. Bridging disciplines, it aims to foster intercultural understanding while honoring the strength of a nation and the quiet resilience passed down through generations.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-global-jazz/1187/thumbnail.jp

Galerie Reverb: A Virtual Museum of Music Icons

    No full text
This project is a business plan and consumer insights report for Galerie Reverb: A Virtual Museum of Music Icons. Galerie Reverb was an idea for a virtual, Decentraland-based museum that leverages immersive technology to showcase the lives and legacies of iconic musicians. I completed a consumer insights report to analyze the market viability of the concept, which helped me determine whether I should move forward with the idea. I used The Pharrell Williams Exhibit as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). It was hosted on OnCyber and originally created during Berklee’s 2025 Transversal Week. I used this MVP to test perceived cultural value, consumers’ willingness to pay, and overall utility. Through an anonymous poll that gathered consumer feedback, I found that participants showed significant price sensitivity and an overall unwillingness to pay much for the product. This was problematic, as it resulted in a sharp decline in projected revenues. Additionally, respondents perceived Galerie Reverb as offering only moderate cultural value and usefulness. The lack of clear demand for Galerie Reverb prompted me to discontinue the idea and motivated me to explore a new venture called My Metamuse. I conducted another comparative MVP survey to gauge consumer excitement about My Metamuse versus Galerie Reverb. An overwhelming number of respondents indicated that My Metamuse was the more promising venture, so I am now actively pursuing its development.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-global-entertainment-business/1400/thumbnail.jp

GLADIATOR RECORDS Business plan | Record Practicum 2025

    No full text
The following business plan is for Gladiator Records, a label that looks to take inspiration and incorporate communications tactics and strategies from the luxury sector and implement them in a record label roster. The findings in this project saw that introducing scarcity into the music industry at an artist level lead to notable levels of interest despite the small sample fan size; along side the philosophy that genreless music will be the future of communications strategies in music. By emphasising quality of media content and understanding the luxury goods sector market trends, the label undertook small budget activations to test the salience towards audiences. Exclusive concert merchandise and limited high quality social media assets set the image in an intentional direction, while a genreless campaign approach saw numbers drawn towards the artist/releases in a natural long lasting way. With initial success comes the need for expansion and further investment complications as the operating capital is a curial piece to the plan.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-global-entertainment-business/1407/thumbnail.jp

    Remnant Reflection

    No full text
This project will explore the possibility of merging the electronic music genres of Dubstep and Future Bass by employing sound design techniques and genre integration. The main goal is to create an EP that innovates within the electronic music scene. Consisting of six original tracks that blend elements of Dubstep and Future Bass, and innovate within the electronic music scene. In the current electronic music market, works featuring a single genre are commonplace; however, the lack of innovative integration between genres can lead to listener fatigue. To address this issue, this project will thoroughly analyze the characteristics of these two genres and will attempt to innovate by blending elements such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and sound design. Through this project, the author will not only acquire valuable skills in music production, sound design, and genre integration but also evolve into a more eclectic electronic music producer, as well as establish new relationships in the industry by collaborating with producers, engineers, and artists.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1418/thumbnail.jp
