Cozmos = Architecture – From Reality to Prediction [STRAND 2021]

    No full text
Architecture, written by utilizing upper- or lower- case “a”, set in the year 2070 leads to a very specific conclusion: by reflecting on the past goings-on one ponders the construction of a new world. The central purpose was to problematize, through personal interpretations, a new architecture that does not solve burning issues in the familiar, but is aimed at alternative models, future scenarios and shaping the space within them.Rad je prikazan u delu publikacije - Nasl. str. prištampanog teksta: Exhibition boo

M04 Apartment Interior Design [BAB 2021]

    Get PDF
Reconstruction and adaptation of typical apartment organization from the period between two World Wars, (re)designed for a young couple, is located nearby The Cathedral of Saint Sava. The backbone of the concept is the encounter of architectural values of the past era (inherited ornaments) and contemporary lifestyle. Blending the divergent styles was challenging. An assemblage of geometry, ornaments, and soft colors provokes an idea of the lifestyle in the contemporary urban context

Design and reuse of the building complex into a specific open-museum site, aims to establish a lasting image of this authentic space of the oldest industrial complex in Serbia. Intervention on the ground floor revives the images of production processes that ensured the coal distribution: industrial rails, station and wagons. Existing buildings will be reconstructed to have an authentic initial appearance, while ruined parts of the complex are being complemented by contemporary interpreting their initial forms and using materials such as glass and steel

Towards Imaginary Studies: New European Bauhaus and Postpandemic Planners’ Education

    Get PDF
Cities development and landscape transformation are under the constant influence of numerous challenges that need to be addressed through the planning process. The COVID-19 pandemic has opened completely new perspectives of research in various scientific fields and has put before planners a serious task of rethinking the post-pandemic city, it also opens the horizon of planners’ education in the context of the dynamics of the pandemic towards recovering cities and pandemic control. This paper aims to critically re-examine the state-of-the-art of existing curricula and to build on these foundations’ visionary ideas for learning about a post-pandemic city. The paper starts from the thesis that studies on the post-pandemic city should be interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary (IMT), problem-based and future-oriented. At the methodological level, the research will engage the case study method, particularly the University of Belgrade, Serbia. The master level book of courses from 31 faculties in 4 scientific fields will be analysed in relation to the sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive city, highlighted as fundamentals of the New European Bauhaus initiative. The tendency is that the research results in the study program concept note at the master level, perceived as an IMT platform for planners’ education on post-COVID urban planning and design. Given that the Bauhaus as a movement was primarily oriented towards state school, the visionaryoriented approach will be used to define new studies for learning about the post-pandemic city. In line with the initial diagram of the Bauhaus curriculum developed by Walter Gropius in 1922, research output will be presented through a thematic diagram of the study program

Izazovi COVID-19: Arhitektura pandemije [43. Salon arhitekture, 2021]

Challenges of COVID-19: Architecture of Pandemics is an online student workshop with the results which can be recognized on two levels. The first level is reflected in the professional contribution in line with the challenges of COVID-19 in the form of 29 conceptual designs and studies that offer answers on different spatial and program matters. The pandemic architecture thematic and research framework formed a scope within which students were encouraged and empowered to seek, in both process and problem-oriented manner, the answers to contemporary societal challenges. In that order, the disciplinary framework of architecture and urbanism is once again illuminated as a symbiosis of technical, technological, socio-humanistic, and artistic aspects. The second level of contribution is reflected in the developed model and methodological framework of distance learning, which can serve as a model for the realization of similar teaching and extracurricular activities in the future

Architectural Scenery and Natural Light Dynamics [abstract]

    No full text
The study analyses two design issues in relation to formal and programmatic architectural design aspects and decision-making: 1. natural light dynamics within the broader framework of architectural articulation of environmental properties, and 2. architectural scenery, supported by the cinemetric graphic research guidelines and methods. Parameters of architectural atmosphere directed by the environmental conditions have been converged with the cinemetric reasoning and representation in order to broaden the scopes of each of the stated architectural design research methods, concerns, and constitutive elements of various design strategies. Both themes have been complemented with the methodology of design through 3D modelling and visualisation, using such mediums as corrective instruments and design control mechanisms indicating consistencies or inconsistencies of the proposed scientific design claims. Two architectural projects for private houses have been re-deployed for demonstration of the investigative process and methodology due to their light- and environment-infused design determinants and scenery. The argued interior mechanisms and concepts of contingency between the daily timedynamics and thus regulated programmatic activities inside the architectural space have been targeted, resulting in sequences of sunlight- and skylight-built atmospheres with the diagrammatic explanation of instances that have directed such results

Reprogramming architectural heritage within the studio-based education

    No full text
This practicum aims to establish a research design framework within the Design Studio course in the context of inherited values (social, cultural, architectural). The focus is on the application of architectural design principles through diagramming, i.e., on the diagram as a methodological tool for reviewing, understanding, and exploring the complex relations between users and the total context (material and immaterial) to form a creative, consistent connection between the past, present, and future. The central position is reserved for the design process, suggesting that architecture is not regarded as the ultimate goal but as a means of questioning the present and building the future. Thus, a series of broader critical topics are also raised, including urban narratives, identity, and the economic, ethical, social, and spatial values of urban cultural practices
