Social Media Recruitment in Online Survey Research: A Systematic Literature Review
Full text linkThe growing percentage of the population on social media creates new and expanded opportunities for survey researchers. Recently, a growing number of studies have been using social media to recruit survey respondents. Many social media platforms have powerful targeting capabilities that can be used to recruit even rare or hard-to-reach populations. However, thus far, the survey research literature lacks a comprehensive overview of potentials and limitations. This literature review aims 1) to provide an overview of the current literature on the use of social media as a recruitment tool, 2) to highlight the potential advantages and disadvantages for survey research, 3) to identify current research gaps, and finally, 4) to provide practical guidance for researchers interested in integrating social media recruitment into their research
Implizite und explizite Stigmatisierung von ethnisch-gelesenen Gruppen in der deutschen Medienöffentlichkeit im Jahr 2022
Full text linkDie mediale Darstellung von Menschen, die aufgrund ihrer familiären Herkunft, Sprache oder Aussehens als Outgroup markiert werden, hat einen großen Einfluss auf die Wahrnehmung dieser Gruppen innerhalb einer Gesellschaft (z.B. Eberl et al. 2018). Dabei spielen nicht nur explizit stigmatisierende Begriffe, wie z.B. Beleidigungen, sondern auch implizite Stereotype, wie z.B. die Assoziation einer sozialen Gruppe mit Kriminalität, eine Rolle. Letztere sind auf den ersten Blick nicht so leicht zu erkennen (Müller et al. 2023). Implizite Stigmatisierungen in der Medienberichterstattung können bewusst oder unbewusst wahrgenommen werden und somit Einfluss auf die Meinungsbildung nehmen. Mit der vorliegenden Studie dokumentieren wir die implizite und explizite Stigmatisierung der am häufigsten in der deutschen Medienberichterstattung im Jahr 2022 erwähnten länderspezifischen Personengruppen. Damit wird ein erster Baustein zu einem kontinuierlichen Monitoring expliziter und impliziter Gruppenstigmatisierung in der deutschen Medienöffentlichkeit gelegt
Linguistic Landscapes im neokommunikativen Französischunterricht: eine sinnvolle Ergänzung?
Full text linkThis article gives a general overview of the possibilities of using Linguistic Landscapes for teaching French. We adopt the neo-communicative teaching approach as a theoretical framework, which can be described by pedagogical principles such as action orientation or learner orientation. We will argue that Linguistic Landscape walks can help to raise awareness of the linguistic diversity of public space and to reflect on sociolinguistic and language policy issues. To exemplify this claim, three pedagogical ideas for the promotion of language awareness, intercultural competencies as well as for vocabulary learning will be presented.Le présent article donne un aperçu général sur les différentes possibilités d\u27utiliser les paysages linguistiques à des fins d\u27enseignement du français langue étrangère. Comme cadre théorique, nous adoptons l\u27approche pédagogique néo-communicative, qui peut être décrite par des principes pédagogiques tels que l\u27orientation vers l\u27action ou l\u27orientation vers l\u27apprenant. Nous soutiendrons que les promenades du paysage linguistique sont un moyen adéquat de sensibiliser à la diversité linguistique de l\u27espace public et de réfléchir aux questions sociolinguistiques et de politique linguistique. Pour illustrer ce point, nous présenterons trois idées didactiques qui visent à encourager la sensibilisation aux langues, des compétences interculturelles et de l\u27apprentissage du vocabulaire
