Raziile forţelor de ordine în bisericile sucevene și în Biserica Sfânta Ecaterina din Constanţa – exemple că libertatea religioasă poate fi pusă între paranteze
Recently, the Romanian mainstream press reported that crews made up of police, Romanian Jandarmerie and inspectors of the Public Health Department carried out raids in several churches in Suceava County, fining some believers and clerics for non-compliance with health protection measures. The event is not a singular one, because at the church of Saint Catherine of Constanţa, during the Holy Liturgy, the parishioners were taken out by the police, legitimized and some of them even fined, under the pretext that during the quarantine, the services are organized only outside the places of worship. In this paper the author attepts to analyze these events from a legal point of view, presenting, at the same time, the natural consequences that derive from committing them
Aspecte sacramentale și liturgic-pascale în viziunile „peceţilor”, „trâmbiţelor” și „cupelor” din cartea Apocalipsa (6-18)
In this part of the book of Revelation, of a special significance is the picture of those slaughtered for the word of God (cap. 6), below the altar, an image that represents a liturgical vision. A new liturgical scene and a new hymn unity appear in chapter 7. There is described the sealing of God’s 144.000 chosen ones. We will present the hypothesis advanced by the researcher M. H. Shepherd Jr., of chapther 7’s drafting on the scheme of the initiation ceremony within the Paschal Liturgy, respectively of chapters 8-19 on the structure of the Easter Synax and Eucharist. In this part we will also analyze the liturgical and hymn unit from the book of Revelation, found in chapter 19. Hallelujah Doxology (Apoc 19, 1-8), in which references to martyrs appear (Apoc 19, 1-2), the four «Hallelujah» (Apoc 19, 1; 19, 3-4; 19, 6), an «Amen» (Apoc 19, 4), the exhortation addressed to all, young and old (Apoc 19, 5) and the comprehensive hymn (Apoc 19, 6-8) with its theological, Christological, and ecclesiological references, they make up the last and most important hymn unity of the book of Revelation
Adversus Haereses 4, 38, 3, - „maturizarea” și pericolul heterodox
This paper approaches the problem of reaching maturity in Adversus Haereses 4,38,3 and indicates the heterodox danger connected with a certain kind of reading this passage. The present analysis argues for the need to reconstitute Man’s irineic „maturity” as a gradual process, which should be considered in an analogous fashion to how its theologian, St. Irenaeus of Lugdunum, regarded Man’s „growth”. The paper defends the coherence of this theological concept against both John Hick’s heterodox interpretative attack and against an unorganized kind of exegetical reconstruction of the passage in question. Referring to a recent Romanian example of such an unorganized exegetical reconstruction, the present analysis illustrates it as a type of research which bears the blame for enabling such an attack like Hick’s
Care for the Departed for the Benefit of the Living
This article explores the care for the departed in the liturgical practice of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Divine Liturgy and the memorial services show how the Church prays for both the departed and the mourners, thus creating a cycle of ecclesiastical communion. We are reminded of the greatness of the benefit of praying for and to the departed and of the mode of our salvation
Libertatea de exprimare religioasă, între schismă și amendă contravenţională. Cazul de defăimare de la biserica Sf. Dumitru din Buzău (2011)
The present study aims to investigate the legal and reasonable boundaries for expressing religious ideas in public, with focus on the defamation case at the orthodox Liturgy of St. Demeter’s church from Buzău in the year 2010. During the celebration, a number of eight schismatic-orthodox protesters entered the church and shouted defamatory slogans against the Patriarch and the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church. At least four of the protesters were given a contraventional penalty by the police agent on the basis of Law 61/1991 regarding the breaking of public peace, and following the legal contestation, the case was sent to the Justice Court of Buzău. The stake of this case is to understand in which circumstances can one exercise the right of expressing critical religious ideas, in a manner that should not violate the law, the Constitution, but also, in the canonical perspective, the procedure of canon law
Lucrarea tainică a Duhului lui Dumnezeu în Legea Veche și în iudaismul intertestamentar
In this study, we will deal with “The Secret Work of the Spirit of God in the Old Testament and in Inter-testamentary Judaism”. The study is made up of five parts. The first part deals with the mysterious dynamics of Elohim, full of love and tenderness for the world that is about to be created. In the second part, we emphasized that the Spirit is the one to give life, to create every living being, to renew the face of the earth and that he is present and active in the second creation. In the third part, we referred to three verses of the prophet Isaiah, where ruah YHWH indicates the promised messianic king. In the two subsections, starting from Isaiah 11,1-10, we talked about the rod that shall come forth out of the stem of Jesse and about the spirit upon the servant of YHWH, a text the evangelist Matthew applies to Jesus of Nazareth. In the fourth chapter, the spirit coming from the Holy One is indicated, the spirit that makes its recipient holy. Finally, the fifth part of the study, referring to the Judaic world in the time of Jesus Christ, points out that the Spirit of God is given to the Messiah as a force to fulfil his mission

MICHAEL PSELLOS’ THEOLOGICA I.30 AND THE BYZANTINE INTERPRETATIONS OF SCALA PARADISI XXVII/2.13
The article2 examines the exegesis of Michael Psellos on the most mysterious of the “difficult places” of the Ladder by John of Sinai — Step XXVІІ/2.13. This interpretation is one of the so-called Theologica treatises (Theol. I.30). It differs significantly from the rest of the Byzantine explanations of this “difficult place”. Michael Psellos decisively rejects the Christological interpretation of the “vision” and the questions of St. John. He also develops the doctrine of the accessibility to a human in present life of the vision of God in “symbols” and “forms” only. Higher contemplations are linked to the degree of detachment of the soul from the body. Unlike Michael Psellos, other interpreters, firstly, pay more attention to the context in which the chapter of the Ladder in question is located, secondly, they mostly prefer a Christological interpretation of St. John’s questions to the unknown interlocutor, thirdly, they ask themselves who this interlocutor was, an angel or Christ Himself. One of the anonymous Byzantine commentaries convincingly defends the point of view according to which John Climacus talked with Christ. This paper analyses all the extensive interpretations of the difficult passage, and on the basis of the handwritten tradition, draws the conclusion that the exegesis of Michael Psellos had much circulation in Byzantium along with other conceptions of the mysterious chapter. In addition, there has been noted the reception of Psellos’s interpretation in the first Slavic edition of the Ladder in 1647. Appendices I and II contain the edition of the Greek text of an anonymous Scholium and a fragment from the commentary by Elias of Crete respectively
