Cédula real al Provincial de los Carmelitas Descalzos en Nueva España para que destine frailes a trabajar en la conversión y congregación de los indígenas en las misiones de Baja California anteriormente bajo la administración de los jesuitas. El Rey indica que recibió una solicitud del dominico Fray Juan Pedro de Iriarte y Laurnaga para hacerse cargo de las misiones de Baja California. Tras revisar la solicitud, decidió conceder el permiso y dividir el territorio de Baja California entre la Orden Dominica y Franciscana. El Rey también instruye al provincial Carmelita a acercarse al virrey para que, en acuerdo con los respectivos obispos, pueda designar la frontera donde los Carmelitas deberían comenzar sus tareas misioneras. —— Royal decree to the Discalced Carmelites provincial in New Spain instructing him to assign friars to work on the conversion and congregation of the Indigenous in Baja California missions previously under the administration of the Jesuits. The King indicates that he received a request from Dominican Fray Juan Pedro de Iriarte and Laurnaga to take over the Baja California missions. After reviewing the request, he decided to grant permission and divide the Baja California territory between the Dominican and Franciscan Order. The King also instructs the Carmelite provincial to approach the viceroy so that, in agreement with the respective bishops, he may designate the border where the Carmelites should begin their missionary tasks. 2 f.
