From Texas to the Cosmos: The James Webb Telescope, Open Source, and the Bobcats' Stellar Journey
James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is used to acquire deep space images of galaxies, planets, and protoplanets from millions to billions of years away using infrared light. The Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes provides all James Webb Telescope images. This dataset was used for the 2024 TXST Open Datathon to investigate "Can we use the JWST infrared data to find life on other planets?". Please refer to the README.md file for details regarding how to access and how to work with the dataset.
Data Archive for: Goudge et al., Spatial patterns of valley network erosion on early Mars.
This repository contains the results presented in Goudge et al., "Spatial patterns of valley network erosion on early Mars", published in Icarus (doi: 10.1016/j.icarus.2024.116224). See full publication for additional details on measurement approach
Color SEM-CL: Technique
It is common practice to convert a monochromatic cathodoluminescence signal into an RGB image using color filters. This poster is a graphic representation of the process used. The example image is of a lithic-rich sandstone from the Cretaceous Frontier Formation from Oil Mountain, Wyoming. The central grain is a recycled sandstone rock fragment with pervasive pre-depositional microfracturing
Recordings from KPFT-FM Pacifica Radio transcripts
This dataset contains timestamped text transcripts of each audio file in the Recordings from KPFT-FM Pacifica Radio digital collection
Bulk geochemical data of black shales in Western Canada: End-Devonian Period
The Western Canada Sedimentary Basin hosts a sequence of balck laminated mudrocks deposits that were formed during the Devonian-Carboniferous period. This dataset comprises stratigraphic and geographic bulk carbon and nitrogen isotopic data from 20 locations, as well as trace element and Rock eval pyrolysis data
