Historical Remote Sensing Analysis of Dust Bowl Drought in Kansas: Corrected and Georeferenced 1972 Aerial Photographs
No full textThis dataset includes a collection of corrected and georeferenced overlapping aerial photographs from 1972, created to support the study "Historical Remote Sensing Analysis of Dust Bowl Drought in Kansas." The original images have been processed to correct distortions and aligned using georeferencing techniques, producing an accurate and seamless spatial representation of Hamilton County, Kansas. The overlapping nature of the photographs allows for stereo interpretation and enhanced visual analysis, making it possible to extract terrain features and assess land surface conditions in greater detail. This dataset is particularly valuable for evaluating land use changes, vegetation patterns, and environmental impacts in regions historically affected by Dust Bowl drought conditions.
Images are provided in GeoTIFF format, suitable for GIS applications, historical land cover analysis, and temporal change detection

No full textThe goal of this study was to examine the relationships between the density and the oc-currence of V. vulnificus and V. parahaemolyticus (pathogenic strains with thermostable di-rect hemolysin (tdh+) and non-pathogenic strains without tdh (thermo labile hemolysin) associated with C. virginica in Galveston Bay, an important oyster producing estuary on the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico. We used a long-term data set (1999-2018) which in-cludes five commercially harvested oyster reefs in the middle of the bay (Figure 1) and an undisturbed man-made reef found in West Bay (Sammy’s reef) to examine the biotic fac-tors influencing these Vibrio spp. populations. In addition, we examined relationships between these pathogenic bacteria and the parasite P. marinus in a subset of the oysters where these pathogens were measured concurrently

National Women’s Conference Delegates and Alternates from Guam
No full textThis dataset includes thorough information about the 17 delegates and alternates who represented the territory of Guam at the National Women’s Conference. Categories of data included are the following: biographical, race and ethnicity, education and career, political participation, organizational leadership, organizational membership, role at the National Women’s Conference, and position on the conference planks.
Data was researched by undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Houston. Two more graduate students cleaned and verified the data, and a faculty lead provided a final check for accuracy before publication.
We derived quantitative and qualitative information to build this dataset, which includes a total of 1,994 datapoints.
Where possible data entry uses controlled vocabularies explained in the project Codebook.
In addition to the quantitative and qualitative data, the dataset includes a bibliography of research sources used to compile the data.
