    Carta al virrey Antonio María de Bucareli en la que se reportan conflictos en Baja California entre misioneros dominicos y el gobernador Felipe Barri. El autor compiló estos informes a partir de diversas cartas que recibió, a pesar del temor a represalias por parte del gobernador. Muñoz acusa al gobernador de socavar la autoridad misionera, prohibir a los soldados interactuar con los sacerdotes y patrullar las misiones, y de humillar a los misioneros al clavar la puerta de una misión para cerrarla y obligar a la comunidad a reunirse frente al convento para proclamar obediencia a su persona. Destaca que tales tensiones amenazan la estabilidad de las comunidades indígenas, con la posibilidad de provocar rebeliones como las ocurridas anteriormente en San Xavier y Mulegé. Muñoz detalla el maltrato de Barri hacia los indígenas, incluyendo poner a uno en el cepo durante cinco días simplemente por negarse a realizar labores domésticas, a pesar de las leyes reales que prohibían el trabajo forzado. He highlights that such tensions threaten the stability of Indigenous communities, possibly leading to rebellions as had occurred previously in San Xavier and Mulegé. Muñoz details Barri’s mistreatment of Indigenous people, including placing one in stocks for five days simply for refusing to perform household labor, despite royal laws forbidding forced labor. The letter also describes Barri’s attempt to have soldiers drag a man, Antonio Toledo, out of a church, which missionaries opposed by citing sacred immunity of religious spaces. Ultimately, the president of the Dominican missions threatened to excommunicate Barri.     Understanding the mechanisms of water transport in reverse osmosis membranes is critical for improving membrane performance and guiding material design. While classical models describe transport as either solution-diffusion (SD)—involving concentration-driven diffusion through a homogeneous medium—or pore-flow (PF)—involving pressure-driven convection through percolated water channels—their applicability to crosslinked polyamide membranes remains debated. Using non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the impact of mechanical support conditions on pressure-driven water transport in polyamide membranes across varying crosslink densities and pressure differentials (1000–5000 bar). Two support conditions are considered: graphene-restrained, representing experimentally relevant supported membranes, and freeze-restrained, mimicking a self-supported structure. In graphene-restrained systems, water concentration gradients and constant pressure profiles emerge, consistent with SD theory and incompatible with PF assumptions due to the absence of percolated pores and sub-nanometer voids. In contrast, freeze-restrained systems display uniform water concentration and linearly decreasing pressure at 1000 bar, and exhibit compressibility-induced water gradients and partial percolation at 5000 bar, resembling PF-like behavior. However, the underlying assumptions of PF theory—continuous solvent pathways and pressure transmission through water-filled pores—are not met under most conditions. Our results demonstrate that accurate modeling of reverse osmosis membranes must incorporate realistic mechanical boundary conditions to distinguish between transport mechanisms. For dense polyamide membranes supported by porous substrates, graphene-restrained simulations best reflect experimental setups and support the SD model as the dominant mechanism of water permeation

    CSR RL06 GRACE geofit and postfit dataset

    This dataset is produced as an ancillary output during the production of the operational RL06 monthly gravity field solutions derived from GRACE observations. It provides time-series information of the observable residuals (“O–C”) in units of intersatellite range rate, separated into geofit residuals—representing the portion of the signal captured by the monthly averaged gravity field—and postfit residuals, which represent the portion not explained by the monthly gravity field or by other modeled orbital, dynamical, or spacecraft-related parameters. The postfit component contains sub-monthly gravity signals as well as remaining measurement noise and modeling errors. Satellite ground track information is included in the dataset as well

    NSF COLDEX 2023-2024 Airborne Season (CXA2): Level 1B Serial Instrument Measurements

    NSF COLDEX CXA2 laser ranging, magnetic field strength and orientation, and positioning This data collection represents georeferenced, time registered instrument measurements (Level 1B data) converted to SI units, and is of most interest to users who wish to reprocess the data. Users interested in geophysical observables (eg magnetic anomalies and surface elevation) should used the derived Level 2 datasets. The data format are space delimited ASCII files, following the formats used for UTIG predecessor ICECAP/OIB project at NASA's NSIDC DAAC. Fields are described in the # delimited detailed header for each granule. DATASET ORGANIZATION Transects were collected in preplanned systems with the following parameters: CLX radials (CLX/MKB##/R###), attempting to emulate flow lines from Dome A and radiating (in the EPSG:3031 polar stereographic projection) from easting 965 km northing 385 km, with a separation of 0.25 degrees. CLX corridor (CLX/MKB##/X###) rotated from the EPSG:3031 polar stereographic projection at -150 degrees and separated by 10 km in the Y direction and 3.75 km in the X direction CLX2 corridor (CLX2/MKB##/X###) rotated from the EPSG:3031 polar stereographic projection at -150 degrees and separated by 2.5 km in its Y direction and 2.5 km in its X direction NPXE radials (NPXE/MKB##/R####) primarily designed to survey the Upper Byrd Glacier Catchment, constitute spokes radiating from South Pole separated by 2 degrees, in the EPSG:3031 polar stereographic projection Untargeted transit lines used the name of the expedition (CXA2) as the project, and used the flight and the increment within the flight to name the Transect (eg (CXA2/MKB2n/F10T02a).
