    Fidel Castro Industrial Building Inauguration Speeches, 1968-1994, from the Fidel Castro Speech Database

    The map was created as part of the online exhibition “Inauguration Speeches by Fidel Castro 1960-1994”, based on the Castro Speech Database, which is hosted in the Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC) by the LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections. The map includes a subset of 28 buildings related to the speeches given by Fidel Castro that range from July 1968 to December 1994. These buildings include farms, printing plants, sugar mills, and oil refineries, among others. The buildings were identified by the building names found in the speeches and georeferenced to their location. Out of the buildings identified, only nine weren’t able to be located and thus, eight of them were given a general location of a city or province, and one of them was provided a location south of Cuba, visible on the sea to provide accurate representation of the entirety of the dataset

    This dataset (multiple outputs files in a compresssed folder) is output from a run of the Maxent ML Model (Phillips et.al., 2006, url: https://biodiversityinformatics.amnh.org/open_source/maxent/) using trees with structure (N=4283) and includes all environmental variables (vegetation community, inundation probability, and soil classification, elevation, generalized slope, euclidean distance from river) with a regularization multiplier (beta parameter) of 2.0.     Comma-delimited textfiles of the attribute tables from the edge shapefiles in the spatial representation of the surface-water connectivity network for a given river discharge (Q) when vegetation patches are used as the landscape patches. Portions of landscape patches that are inundated by surface water are represented as vertices in the network. Patches become connected when the boundary between them is breached by surface water. The Q values considered span the historical record for Mission River and the Q in cubic-meters per second (cms) associated with each landscape patch dataset is in the filename. The attributes in this table are used to construct the edge-lists that are used within the igraph library of the R computing language to construct the graph data structures that form the basis for the topological and algebraic graph analysis.     Included here are a dataset with coding from the study author (Kate Mesh) and four reliability coders: Marcus Martinez and Phoebe Minz (undergraduate research assistants at The University of Texas at Austin), Salma Halabi and Yara Abu-Roker (undergraduate research assistants at the University of Haifa, Haifa, Israel). Each reliability coder worked with 10% of the total dataset, and each reliability coder's work was individually compared with that of the study author. For all author-reliability coder pairs, a measure of inter-rater agreement and a Cohen's Kappa score were computed using R version 3.6.1 (R Core Team, 2019), with the package, irr (Gamer, Lemon, Fellows & Singh, 2019).     Replication Data for: Tuning Extracellular Electron Transfer by Shewanella oneidensis Using Transcriptional Logic Gates

    Extracellular electron transfer (EET) pathways, such as those in the bacterium Shewanella oneidensis, interface cellular metabolism with a variety of redox-driven applications. However, designer control over EET flux in S. oneidensis has proven challenging since a functional understanding of its EET pathway proteins and their effect on engineering parameterizations (e.g., response curves, dynamic range) is generally lacking. To address this, we systematically altered transcription and translation of single genes encoding parts of the primary EET pathway of S. oneidensis, CymA/MtrCAB, and examined how expression differences affected model-fitted parameters for Fe(III) reduction kinetics. Using a suite of plasmid-based inducible circuits maintained by appropriate S. oneidensis knockout strains, we pinpointed construct/strain pairings that expressed cymA, mtrA, and mtrC with maximal dynamic range of Fe(III) reduction rate. These optimized EET gene constructs were employed to create Buffer and NOT gate architectures, that predictably turn on and turn off EET flux, respectively, in response to IPTG. Furthermore, we found that response functions generated by these logic gates (i.e., EET activity vs. inducer concentration) were comparable to those generated by conventional synthetic biology circuits, where fluorescent reporters are the output. Our results provide insight on programming EET activity with transcriptional logic gates and suggest that previously developed transcriptional circuitry can be adapted to predictably control EET flu
