Standardized Schoeller Diagrams with Matlab - The Plotting Tool

    No full text
Water analyses typically result in numerous characteristic values. The bunch of parameters hamper temporal or spatial comparisons of different samples. In order to facilitate the evaluation and interpretation of hydrochemical data, hydrogeologists use various special diagrams. One of them is the Schoeller diagram, in which the concentrations of different chemical species are plotted on logarithmic scales. Entries of an analysis are connected and form a characteristic signature. In the Schoeller diagram, parallel or subparallel signatures indicate relatedness of waters. Here we present the idea of standardized Schoeller diagrams: different logarithmic axes are shifted with respect to each other so that the signatures of a selectable sample forms a straight line. For this application, we have developed a plot tool that allows standardized Schoeller diagrams, such as the example above, to be plotted with minimal effort and only one command in the Matlab programming environment. All required files, including the program code of the plot command, a detailed tutorial, as well as sample commands for all plots of the tutorial can be found in this collection: User manual: Standardized Schoeller Diagrams with Matlab - A User Manual.pdf Main code file: plotSchoeller.m Example commands of all figures in the manual: createAllFigures.m Example dataset used in the manual: ExampleDataSet.xls

Qualitative Petrothermal Potential Assessment based on a Stratigraphic Grid of the Hessian Mid-German Crystalline High

    Get PDF
Large scaled geothermal potential assessments often require geological 3D-structural models of the area of interest. For assessing petrothermal potentials of the Hessian basement, a regional scaled geological 3D-structural model of the hessian Mid German Crystalline High (Weinert et al. 2022a) was created within the scope of the project Hessen 3D 2.0 (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy; funding number:0325944A). The spatial confinement is defined by the scope of Hessen 3D 2.0, and therefore, the lateral extension of the basement model is constrained within the (simplified) boarder of federal state of Hesse. Vertical constraints are set to 400 m b.g.l. and a maximum model depth of 6,000 m below sea level. A qualitative petrothermal potential assessment is calculated based on a SKUA-GOCAD SGrid of the Hessian Mid-German Crystalline High (Weinert et al. 2023). In total, the SGrid contains 8 modeling units comprising (I) Frankenstein complex, (II) Flasergranitoid zone, (III) Weschnitz pluton, (IV) Tromm pluton, (V) Heidelberg granites, (VI) granites and granodiorites, (VII) diorites and gabbros and (VIII) metamorphic rocks. Data in the repository is provided as GOCAD-SKUA stratigraphic grid in .sg-file format. The provided SGrid is parameterized and contains the following properties: (I) results of a fault zone related, qualitative potential assessment and (II) results of a fracture network related, qualitative potential assessment

The Proteomic Composition and Organization of Constitutive Heterochromatin in Mouse Tissues

    No full text
Pericentric heterochromatin (PCH) forms spatio-temporarily distinct compartments and affects chromosome organization and stability. Albeit some of its components are known, an elucidation of its proteome and how it differs between tissues in vivo is lacking. Here, we find that PCH compartments are dynamically organized in a tissue-specific manner possibly reflecting compositional differences. As mouse brain and liver exhibit very different PCH architecture, we isolated native PCH fractions from these tissues, analyzed their protein compositions using quan-titative mass spectrometry, and compared them to identify common and tissue-specific PCH pro-teins. Besides heterochromatin-enriched proteins, the PCH proteome includes RNA/transcription and membrane-related proteins, which showed lower abundance than PCH-enriched proteins. Thus, we applied a cut-off of PCH-unspecific candidates based on their abundance and validated PCH-enriched proteins. Amongst the hits, MeCP2 was classified into brain PCH-enriched pro-teins, while linker histone H1 was not. We found that H1 and MeCP2 compete to bind to PCH and regulate PCH organization in opposite ways. Altogether, our workflow of unbiased PCH iso-lation, quantitative mass spectrometry, and validation-based analysis allowed the identification of proteins that are common and tissue-specifically enriched at PCH. Further investigation of select-ed hits revealed their opposing role in heterochromatin higher order architecture in vivo

GRAFI-r: Gravure printing finger instability dataset (raw data)

    No full text
The GRAFI-r dataset contains high speed videos of finger instabilities during fluid splitting in gravure printing. The high speed videos were recorded on a custom-built gravure printing research platform, which enables optical access to the printing nip. The printing nip is the line of contact between the engraved printing cylinder and the impression roller. The aim of the dataset is the in-situ visualization and temporal analysis of hydrodynamic pattern formation phenomena during fluid transfer. The influence of the engraving raster on the finger instability can be investigated. The GRAFI-r dataset comprises raw video data whereas processed video data can be found in the related [GRAFI-p](https://tudatalib.ulb.tu-darmstadt.de/handle/tudatalib/3848) dataset. GRAFI-r dataset stands for **gra** vure printing **f** inger **i** nstability dataset. The suffix -r stands for **r** aw data. Metadata for the GRAFI-r dataset can be found in the dissertation of Pauline Rothmann-Brumm (2023) and in the provided README-file (last item in dataset, click 'show more')
