Publication data analysis for TUDa, RWTH and KIT, 2016-2023, based on OpenAlex
Publication data is queried and retrieved from the OpenAlex catalog of scholarly records, using python. A simple script is used, utilizing the OpenAlex API via the pyAlex library. Retrieved record data is dumped in json format to facilitate recurring or iterative analysis. A basic analysis regarding Open-Access is performed by this same script, list comprehension is used to filter records based on type and Open-Access status / features. Lastly, the analysis results are provided via simple printout.
The script can be run as is to provide an analysis of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles published by members of Technical University of Darmstadt (TUDa), RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) during 2016-2023. As a basic analysis regarding Open-Access, total number of publications is counted per institution per year, as well as number of Open-Access publications and number of "gold" "Open-Access" publications (i.e. primary location of publication is an Open-Access Journal).
This repository entry provides the utilized script, readme and retrieved data dump on the date of submission. Regarding installation, requirements, and usage, refer to the readme.
The authors thank Anne-Christine Günther and Harald Gerlach for the fruitful discussion and feedback on the approach and implementation of this analysis
Constrained C-Test Generation via Mixed-Integer Programming (Supplementary Material)
This work proposes a novel method to generate C-Tests; a deviated form of cloze tests (a gap filling exercise) where only the last part of a word is turned into a gap. In contrast to previous works that only consider varying the gap size or gap placement to achieve locally optimal solutions, we propose a mixed-integer programming (MIP) approach. This allows us to consider gap size and placement simultaneously, achieving globally optimal solutions and to directly integrate state-of-the-art models for gap difficulty prediction into the optimization problem. A user study with 40 participants across four C-Tests generation strategies (including GPT-4) shows that our approach (*MIP*) significantly outperforms two of the baseline strategies (based on gap placement and GPT-4); and performs on-par with the third (based on gap size). Our analysis shows that GPT-4 still struggles to fulfill explicit constraints during generation and that *MIP* produces C-Tests that correlate best with the perceived difficulty. We publish our code, model, and collected data consisting of 32 English C-Tests with 20 gaps each (3,200 in total) under an open source license
An unstructured geometrical un-split VOF method for viscoelastic two-phase flows - research and input data
The repository contains the research data set, test case, scripts to reproduce the results and the repository of the unstructured geometrical Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method for handling two-phase flows with a viscoelastic liquid phase.Secon
High EGR Database
This database provides detailed validation and cyclic data from simultaneous measurements of the flow, flame, spark plasma, spark circuit, and thermodynamic boundary conditions of an optically accessible research engine. By adding external exhaust gas recirculation and by using premixed fuel/air mixtures, the complexity of the combustion system is reduced and the factors leading to cycle-to-cycle variations are more pronounced.1.

Stepcraft CNC Machining Tool Wear
Experiments used a Stepcraft M 500 CNC milling machine with AlCuMg1 aluminum plates, controlled by WINPC-NC. Data was captured by a Bosch CISS sensor on the Z-axis. Measurement data includes accelerometer data (~2 kHz) and machine axis data (5 Hz), available in CSV and HDF5 formats. NC programs used were nc_program_4_tools.din and nc_program_5_tools.din. More details are available in the readme.md
Unstructured Finite-Volume Arbitrary Lagrangian / Eulerian Interface Tracking computational framework for incompressible two-phase flows with surfactants (presentation)
Presentation at the APS 76th Annual Meeting of the Division of Fluid Dynamics (DFD23)
and
Presentation at the GAMM 94th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM 2024)We present an open-source computational framework that implements the unstructured Finite-Volume Arbitrary Lagrangian / Eulerian (ALE) Interface Tracking method for incompressible two-phase flows with surfactants. The framework implements the Interface Tracking ALE method for incompressible two-phase flows using a segregated solution algorithm for solving coupled Navier-Stokes equations with interfacial jump conditions. The Finite Area method discretizes transport equations on curved and evolving fluid interfaces. The open-source implementation as an OpenFOAM module also contains the Sub-Grid-Scale (SGS) model for handling extremely narrow boundary layers of passively transported scalars with very small diffusivity. The SGS model significantly reduces resolution requirements for species transport across the fluid interface. The surface and bulk transport of surfactants and the SGS model are verified using (semi-)analytical verification cases. We also discuss complex setups, e.g., of a rising bubble at high Peclet-numbers under the influence of soluble surfactants
