    A Novel Approach to Compute the Handover Probabilities Based on Mobility in WPAN

    A novel approach has been presented to compute the probabilities of unsuccessful handovers based number of free channels available in the target AP and number of free channels available plus based on the mobility of mobile device. The number of free channels in the AP is 16 and the mobility of the mobile device in the 8 different directions is considered. The directions of movement are 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, 215, 270 and 315 that a mobile can take a turn to. If the mobile device is handed over to the target AP based on the movement of the mobile device, then the proposed model can be used to compute the probabilities of the unsuccessful handover if the number of free channels in the target AP is different than expected with respect to the host AP. The probabilities of the incorrect decision is plotted for the cases of mobile device moving in a direction normal to the boundary and moving along the boundary are plotted

    In Software Engineering, an important activity is measuring of the Software in different ways. For Measuring the Software, appropriate metrics are needed. Using Software metrics we are able to attain the various qualitative and quantitative aspects of Software. To measure the Software in terms of quality, size, efforts, efficiency, and reliability, performance etc. we have different metrics available in Software Engineering and it has been an area of interest for the various researchers. Measures of specific attributes of the process, project and product are used to compute Software metrics. This work proposes a similar approach of measuring software using various UML diagrams and applied Software size metric to evaluate the size of the Software. This paper discusses the proposed approach using two different case studies and their source codes.     PAPR Reduction using PTS-PSO technique for 16A16 MIMO-OFDM Systems with 16-QAM

    In this paper it is proposed that a particle swarm optimization PSO based partial transmit sequence PTS technique is used so that least Peak-to-Average Power Ratio PAPR is achieved in Multiple Input Multiple Output- Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexin gsystems MIMO-OFDM Our approach is to apply PSO based PTS on each antenna of the system helping to find the optimal phase factors which is a straightforward method to achieve minimum PAPR in this system PSO based PTS algorithm when applied to MIMO-OFDM systems with a wide range of phase factors results in high performance after simulation The results PAPR achieved for 16X16 MIMO-OFDM systems without PTS using 16-QAM is 15 8dB whereas with PTS the PAPR achieved is 7 1 dB therefore overall reductions PAPR with and without PTS is 8 7 dB Similarly PAPR achieved for 16X16 MIMO-OFDM systems without PTS-PSO using 16-QAM is 15 8 dB whereas with PTS-PSO the PAPR achieved is 3 6 dB therefore overall reductions PAPR with and without PTS is 12 2 dB The final reduction in PAPR resulted as 8 7 dB and 12 2 dB respectivel

    Modified TCP for Time Critical Applications

    A network is defined to be a congested networkif the load on the network exceeds the capacity of the network. The traditional congestion control technique of slow-start and AIMD was adopted when the aim was more on the stability of the Internet. But as more and more time critical applications such as multimedia applications are being used, we need alternate technique that reduces the drastic fluctuations of window size present in the existing technique. Thispaper proposes a techniquefor fast delivery of packet for a time critical application. It reduces the packet overhead and time compared to existing slow-start and AIMD technique. The proposed technique uses information or intelligence from the unexpected packet received. It is a fine modification of the existing slow-start and AIMD technique by adapting them for time critical applications. We propose modification at both thesender and the receiver hosts without modifying anything in the intermediate hosts of the network. Extensivesimulation show that proposed technique reduces congestion in the network by reducing both packet overhead and time compared to the traditional slow-start and AIMD technique and delivers the packets in timely manner than the existing techniques

    Evaluation the Quality of Software Design by Call Graph based Metrics

    The prediction of software defects was introduced to support development and maintenance activities to improve the software quality by finding errors early in the software development. It facilitates maintenance in terms of effort, time and more importantly the cost prediction for software evolution and maintenance activities. In this paper, we evaluate the quality related attributes in developed software products. The software call graph model is also used for several applications in order to represent and reflect the degree of their complexity in terms of understandability, testability and maintainability efforts. The extracted metrics are investigated for the evaluated applications in correlation with bugs collected from customers bug reports. Those software related bugs are compiled into datasets files to use as an input to a data miner for classification, prediction and association analysis. Finally, the analysis results is evaluated in terms of finding the correlation between software products bugs and call graph based metrics. We find that call graph based metrics are appropriate to detect and predict software defects so that the activities of testing and maintenance stages become easier to estimate or assess after the product delivery

    Component Based Development relies on already existing components to develop the system. It offers various advantages as increase in productivity, reduced development effort and time. The biggest challenge is to select the appropriate component from number of alternatives based on the quality parameters. In this paper COTS component selection is reduced to a multi criteria decision problem by quantifying it with PROMETHEE method. PROMETHEE is an outranking method which better supports the evaluation and selection from various alternatives based on the functional and non-functional requirements. The aim of this paper is to show the application of PROMETHEE in evaluating, analysing and selecting the appropriate COTS component with respect to requirements. The paper also discusses the procedure and benefits of using PROMETHEE method over the other MCDA methods

    Robust Image Retrieval using Dominant Colour with Binarized Pattern Feature Extraction and Fast Correlation

    The modern technology providing the sharing of information at very fast rate such as audio, video and images. The sharing of such data also increased as the social networking sites become popular among young generation. Now the online databases of images is so huge having millions of images, and the searching of images we need is crucial task. For such applications various image retrieval methodologies is proposed. In this paper we are proposing very efficient image retrieval technique based on dominant colour features extraction and pattern feature extraction. In the simulation results we have found that from around 6000 images proposed algorithm takes only 1.5 seconds to retrieve results. That is why this approach is significant in terms of retrieval speed

    Cognitive Location based Mobile Adhoc Networks Implementation with an Android Operating Systems

    Cognitive radio (CR) technology is envisaged to solve the problems in wireless networks resulting from the limited available spectrum and the inefficiency in the spectrum usage by exploiting the existing wireless spectrum opportunistically. CR networks, equipped with the intrinsic capacities of the cognitive radio, will provide an ultimate spectrumaware communication paradigm in wireless communications. Specifically, in cognitive radio ad hoc networks (CRAHNs), the distributed multihop architecture, the dynamic network topology, and the time and location varying spectrum availability are some of the key distinguishing factors. In this paper, intrinsic properties and current research challenges of the CRAHNs are presented. A particular emphasis is given to distributed coordination between CR users through the establishment of a common control channel. Lastly, a new commission called the park model is explained, where CRAHN users may independently determine their own performance based on pre-decided spectrum.
