Role of Media in Deepening roots of Democracy
Media plays a crucial role in shaping a strong democracy. Mass Media is referred to as the fourth estate of government because of the influence they have and the oversight role they apply. The media form public outlook, but they are in turn influenced and manipulated by diverse interest groups in society. The media can encourage democracy by among other things, cultivating voters, defending human rights, promoting tolerance among various social groups, and safeguarding that governments are transparent and answerable. It makes us aware of various social, political and economic events happening around the world. India has the largest democracy and media has a powerful existence in the country. In recent times Indian mass media has been focus to a lot of criticism for the manner in which they have overlooked their obligation to social responsibility. Dangerous business practices in the field of media have affected the fabric of Indian democracy.Media prompts the politicians of their unfulfilled capacities at the time of elections. The complete coverage by TV news stations during elections helps publics especially illiterates, vote for the right persons. The media also leaks the loopholes in the elected system, which eventually helps the government to fill the voids of these loopholes and to make the organization more answerable, receptive and citizen-friendly. In Democracy, there are three vital functions of media: First, it must provide a laborious accounting of people in command and people who want to be in supremacy. Second, the media must offerconsistent information and a wide range of well-versed opinions. This paper talks about the role of media in awakening and deepening roots of democracy in society.
New Media and Youth
New media is a means of mass communication using digital technology such as internet. We can say that, New media most commonly refers to content available on-demand through the Internet, accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation. Common examples of new media include websites such as online newspapers, blogs, wikis, video games and social media. A defining characteristic of new media is dialogue. New Media transmit content through connection and conversation. It enables people around the world to share, comment on, and discuss a wide variety of topics. Unlike any of past technologies, New Media is grounded on an interactive community
Analysis of the factors influencing the sales of retail outlets in suburban by taking the customer purchase patterns and their perception
The purpose of the study was to analyze the factors influencing the sales of the retail outlets in the suburban area. It was designed mainly to find the relation between the retail sales and few of the factors like retail location etc, which were not, studied earlier mostly. Consumer purchase patterns were taken into consideration and the study was carried for about a month by taking different samples of various family units randomly. It was found that the factors like retail location, air-condition facility in the retail outlet, behavior of the sales staff in retail outlet, arrangement of the products in the shelf etc were influencing the sales of the retail outlets. There is a good fit between all theses factors as a whole and the product sales of retail outlets.
Study on Hospital Service Quality Perceptions and Patient Satisfaction
Patients’ perceptions about health services seem to have been largely ignored by health care providers in developing countries. Those perceptions, especially about service quality, might shape confidence. It is a challenging issue for healthcare providers to realize what elements of patients’ perception significantly influence on patient satisfaction. In our study several elements from the patients’ service quality perception were evaluated, and elements which had a significant influence on patient satisfaction were identified
Multivariate Statistical Quality Control Based on Ranked Set Sampling
The sample of the study was formed using simple random sampling, ranked set sampling, extreme ranked set sampling and median ranked set sampling. At the end of this process, the researcher created Hotelling’s T2 control charts, a multivariate statistical process control method. The performances of the sampling methods were compared to one another using these control charts. A simulation was performed to see the average run-length values for Hotelling’s T2 control charts, and these findings were also used for the comparison of the sampling performances. At the end of the study, the researcher formed a sample using median ranked set sampling and created the Hotelling’s T2 control chart. As a result of this operation, the researcher found that there was an out-of-control signal in the process, while there was no such signal in other sampling methods. When the average run-length values obtained from Hotelling’s T2 control charts were compared, it was seen that a shift in the process was detected by the ranked set sampling earlier, when compared to other sampling methods. This paper it can be said that the methods used are unique to the literature because they are applied to multivariate data. Keywords: Statistical quality control, Multivariate control charts, Hotelling T2control charts, Ranked set sampling, average run lengthHow to cite this article: Eygü H, SuphiÖzçomak M. A Review of Internal Quality Control Data Management in Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory Using Microsoft Excel
Background: A clinical biochemistry laboratory generates large quantity of numerical data due to implementation of Internal Quality Control (IQC). Aim: To develop a simple procedure for management of IQC data in a clinical biochemistry laboratory. Methodology: Microsoft Excel (version 2013) was used to design a proforma comprising tabular and graphical components to handle IQC data. This proforma was used to record values of control sera, convert them into z scores and represent them on a Levy-Jennings (LJ) chart for ease of interpretation. Other methods of IQC data management were reviewed and a comparison was drawn between all methods. Results: Review of various methods of managing IQC data reveal that the current method is most suitable for laboratories using multiple instruments and multiple levels of controls. Conclusion: IQC data could be effectively managed using the Microsoft Excel software due to its ability perform calculations and represent data graphicallyKeywords: Quality, IQC, Microsoft Excel, Software, Z scoreHow to cite this article: Matkar S, Matkar A, Varpe P. Editorial
Quality is variously defined. One perception is “excellence” (Aristotle), yet the ultimate objective of bringing perfection as per the measures of customer preference, imparts the subject of quality the exquisite importance it deserves1. The standardised meaning of Quality is “a system of maintaining standards in manufactured products by testing a sample of the output against the specification”. It is the product attribution as standardized or specified, by the customer or by a legislative authority respectively. How to cite this article: Thareja P. Editorial. Media Convergence: Its Impact On Mass Communication
The Gutenberg era is over. A new digital communications technology has emerged. They are changing the way we live-the way we work, relax, manage our money, trade and communicate with each other. The new technologies are changing the way we perceive people, cultures, countries and companies and our expectations of them and also our expectations of ourselves. From newsrooms to sales departments to Internet sites are converged “information platforms,” the business of information has changed and continues to change dramatically. The rise of digital communication in the late 20th century has made it possible for media organizations (or individuals) to deliver text, audio, and video material over the same wired, wireless, or fiber-optic connections. At the same time, it inspired some media organizations to explore multimedia delivery of information. This paper tells you that how Convergence is redefining the mass media and how people can successfully meet the challenges of the new media workplace. In this we will also explain about Convergence in various fields of mass media
Communicating Sciences & Social Sciences in the Era of Media Divergence” Convergence and Divergence – Two sides of same coi
The Concept and idea of Convergence and Divergence in media technology holds same significance. With the inventions in technology and creative powerful mindset of man , laws of convergence and divergence states an utmost importance in New media technologies . Both are different in definitions and meanings ,but when captured together they are two parts of the same process. Imganitation is captured by convergence , and market is captured by divergence, as said by Henry Jenkin . The idea of convergence is frequently used in the most disciplines ,but stands out in academic field and within the media industry to construct media companies as well as to describe the latest developments in media forms, distribution, and consumption. Divergence, being totally the opposite of convergence, is commonly defined as a drawing apart, in simple layman’s language ,when we need to explore and find new things , we use new divergent approaches . Similarly to the concept of convergence, divergence is frequently used within several academic fields such as mathematics, optics, and biology. In turn, media convergence impacts the way we consume media. On the cultural level, though, this desire for a divergence of technology works to spread media content across every possible delivery system and insures that there will be multiple points of entry to many of the most successful media franchises.
