We previously developed play-based lesson plans for Rigamajig. This project presents a framework for our lesson plans with Kodo Kids, a loose parts play company in Broomfield, Colorado. The Power of Community: Creating Pathways for Women of Color in Higher Education
This essay explores the transformative power of community for women of color navigating the challenges of higher education. Reflecting on personal experiences, it highlights the intersectionality of being both a woman and a member of a minority group in the U.S. Central to overcoming these obstacles is the support of a peer community, which fosters community healing , a space for shared struggles, validation, and empowerment. The essay calls for intentional efforts to build inclusive communities, mentorship programs, and safe spaces that provide solidarity.
