A mobile application for ECG detection and feature extraction
This paper presents a system for early detection and alerting of the onset of a heart attack. The system consists of a wireless, easy wearable and mobile ECG biosensor, a cloud based data center, smartphone and web application. A significant part in the system is the 24h health monitoring and care provided by expert cardiac physicians. The system predicts potential heart attack and sends risk alerts to the medical experts for assessment. If a potential heart attack risk exists, ambulance is being called with the coordinates of the cardiac patient wearing the sensor. The timely reaction can prevent serious tissue damage or even death to the users of the system
Ubiquitous Computing in the context of developing countries
Ubiquitous computing is an ultra-interdisciplinary field. Because of its capacity to affect every sphere of human life, it is endowed with a wide range of characteristics and features. This paper attempts to describe the more salient and diverse features of Pervasive Computing in an organized manner that appreciates the multi-disciplinary nature of the field. Five categories: Setup, design, architecture, deployment and operations; interface; security; engineering and socio-economic; are used to systematically outline the current characteristics of Ubiquitous computing. Sample applications from the field of Ubicomp are also discussed to illustrate some of the characteristics of pervasive computing. Moreover, we have also tried to highlight the challenges and opportunities for implementing Pervasive Computing in the context of developing countries
Change control in project of web application development in e-commerce environment
In order to survive in the market and to become concurrent in modern business, companies need to accept and implement new technologies in their business processes. Internet presence enabled companies’ new way of running business and presenting product/services to the clients. Using e-business, companies may collect large amount of information about their clients and partners, and after its analysis, they may create new products/services and answer effectively to the global market needs. Too many information and efficient analysis demand new data storage methods. BigData and NoSQL databases prevailed as a suitable solution. Faster data delivery, real time work and lower costs, are some of the reasons why companies begin to implement those technologies. On the other hand, uncertainty about the processes of database system change may slow down the changes. This work illustrates abovementioned changes through change control in project of web application development in e-commerce environment. Advantages and disadvantages of the new way of data storage are presented too. Therefore this work may be used as an example in the companies that run business by e-way or are beginners in this area
Analysis of digital marketing and branding for the purpose of understanding the consumers in digital age
The changes have brought us a new age – “the digital age” and this age has brought us some new challenges that seek to solve the problems of organization in a new way. The digital age, as far as branding is concerned, has brought many advantages to the organization and it can be an extremely valuable marketing tool, but only if the organization manages to gain a positive relationship between the brand and consumers and if it has a proportional advantage in comparison to its opponents; because, on the other hand, besides all advantages it brings us, the digital age can set up many traps. This paper is about the current situation in the global market and pays our attention to some segments of business which are important in digital age for subsistence and the success of an organization. It presents the current awareness of consumers and their way of thinking and acting. The purpose of this paper is to point out conceptual frameworks of branding in Internet form, to show how those frameworks can help marketing planners by organizing and integrating the existing knowledge in development of successful strategies of branding on the Internet. A real example of one of the leading global brands that succeeded to win the challenges of the digital age will be presented in this paper
Behavioural – based modelling and analysis of Navigation\ud Patterns across Information Networks
Navigation behaviour can be considered as one of the most crucial\ud
aspects of user behaviour in an electronic commerce environment, which is very\ud
good indicator of user’s interests either in the process of browsing or purchasing.\ud
Revealing user navigation patterns is very helpful in finding out a way for\ud
increasing sale, turning the most browsers into buyers, keeping costumer’s\ud
attention, loyalty, adjusting and improving the interface in order to boost the user\ud
experience and interaction with the system. In this regard, this research has\ud
identified the most common user navigation patterns across information networks,\ud
illustrated through the example of an electronic bookstore. A behavioural-based\ud
model that provides profound knowledge about the processes of navigation is\ud
proposed, specifically examined for different types of users, automatically\ud
identified and clustered into two clusters according to their navigational\ud
behaviour. The developed model is based on stochastic modelling using the\ud
concept of Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets which complex solution relies on\ud
Continuous Time Markov Chain. As a result, calculation of several performance\ud
measures is performed, such as: expected time spent in a transient tangible\ud
marking, cumulative sojourn time spent in a transient tangible marking, total\ud
number of visits in a transient tangible marking etc
Intelligent Supervisory Control of Discrete Event Systems - A Holon based Approach
Supervisory Control of Discrete Event Systems (DEVS) requires potential capabilities for constant adaptation and fast responses to the frequent un-expected disturbances occur in process and changes in production orders. Both hierarchical and heterarchical architecture control systems being developed so far have had limited success in achieving such potential capabilities. Hierarchical architecture systems due to their rigid structures inhibit inadequate responses to the process disturbances. Heterarchical architecture systems are quite good in dealing with the disturbances and are highly adaptable, but such structures cannot guarantee high performance due to unpredictable behavior. The shortcomings of the said systems develops the need for designing Holon based structure in which entities are able to communicate, cooperate, and have certain level of intelligence that enable them to be highly autonomous. In this paper we present a methodology that encapsulates individual needs of the physical layer, in general discrete event objects, in order to promote a goal orientated infrastructure with negotiation and cooperation capabilities at the computational layer of Discrete Event Systems. This methodology propagates chains of cooperation between holons seeking satisfactory goal realization. Architecture for a Holonic-based intelligent Supervisory Control of DEVS has been proposed along with a guide-line for its product ionisation. The newly proposed taxonomy of individual holons occurring in a discrete event system as a supervisory controller will allow to understand interaction mechanisms in a complex Holon’s society, and to obtain design methodology for a Holonic based control of DEVS

This paper shows the comparison between two generations of\ud
Raspberry Pi SoC computers, which can be marked as the first stage of nano revolution of ubiquitous computing and the Internet of Things
An IoT Concept of the Small Virtual Power Plant Based on Arduino Platform and MQTT Protocol
In this paper, a new IoT concept of the small virtual power plant is proposed. The main principle is the smart control of the high-voltage power lines by the low-cost and low-voltage Arduino platform with Mosquitto open-source message broker that implements the secure TCP connection based on MQTT IoT protocol using specific topics, passwords, and SSL cryptography. The C# Windows form app and Arduino sketch were developed with MQTT publisher and subscriber, respectively. The hardware simulation of the proposed concept is realized using the solar panel (12.5 V, 180 mA), two relays SRD-05VDC-SL-C, buck (DC/DC YEC SD200) and buck/boost (DC/DC Tusotek TS-IPS-VO2) converters, and two small power banks (first one is to supply the consumption\ud
part simulated by Arduino Uno with LED, second one is to supply the smart power distribution block). The hardware was tested successfully in three regimes: the charge of battery by the solar panel, the power supply of the Arduino Uno board with LED using the power bank or solar panel. The proposed infrastructure can be directly applied to the power off-grid solutions of the smart houses if gridtie inverter is added as well as generation and storage parts are more powerful
E-Learning Security Risks and its Countermeasures
E-learning, a novel way in the learning process that involves more interaction between the learners and teachers to some extent, in comparison to the traditional education. Moreover, it depends on the Internet technology and executes via web applications. However, network environment is a honey pot to attract many hackers and it may have some potential security risks such as: malicious attacks, hackers and so on. In addition, network security is one of the security issues of E-learning because it is usually concerns with the instructors, learners, trainers who cannot foresee the risks and know how to prevent the threats and the like. This study mainly focuses on the E-learning security issues and the countermeasures to deal with risks towards e-learning-system
