Many of the works have been taken directly from historical texts and reconstructed as erasure and persona poems. Interest in Intergenerational Research: Social Connection and Loneliness as Predictors

Undergraduate participants (N = 150) completed baseline measures and indicated their interest in a 6-week study communicating with an older adult partner. Identification of the enzyme responsible for 2’-O methylation of tRNA residue 39 in plants
No full text2020 Celebration of Student Research and Creativity presentationModification of tRNA is important for cell growth and translation, and errors can lead to disease. Of the nearly 100 known tRNA modifications, enzymes responsible for several modifications are not known. One such modification is 2’-O-methlyation of residue 39 (Nm39) in plants and animals. The goal of this research is to identify the enzyme responsible for Nm39 in plants by expressing plant tRNA and candidate genes in yeast, which do not form the modification. Presence of Nm39 on tRNA would indicate that the candidate gene is responsible for the modification. Metabolic scope in the Mosquitofish, Gambusia affinis, as an indicator of climate change impacts
No full text2020 Celebration of Student Research and Creativity presentationAn organism’s fitness and response to environmental conditions is often tied to its metabolic scope, which can be measured as oxygen consumption. We studied how temperature changes are affecting the metabolic scope of mosquitofish, using measurements of maximum metabolic rate, standard metabolic rate, and aerobic scope. From our data, we have found that the metabolic rates at 23°C are higher than those at 13°C. We have limited results because of design flaws in our respiratory system setup. From the various reasoning of what causes it, to the different strategies to overcome it. It is an ongoing issue that will never be completely resolved. A single disciplinary approach focuses on only one aspect of the issue, while an interdisciplinary approach will look deeper at multiple aspects of the problem. Being homeless is never easy, but for children, it is much harder in various ways, especially in terms of their education. Homeless children are highly at-risk for limited success in school (Manfra, 2018), which leads to the question of whether or not a homeless child has the same educational opportunities as a child who doesn’t live in poverty. There is more that needs to be done to alleviate educational injustice for homeless children. Homeless children need to be better served by the public education sector.https://youtu.be/a1we0tS4Vy

At the beginning of the century, much scholarship was studied through the lens of “western civilization,” but by the beginning of the twenty-first century, many scholars transitioned into studying through the perspective of “world history.” To illustrate these changes, this project researches two books written in different time periods about the history of the United Fruit Company. This project explores existing research about team sports to identify the pros, cons, and offer guidelines for when children should start playing team sports. Struggle of Foster Care Children in Obtaining a College Degree

This study seeks to examine the relationship between Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, success of NKU foster alumni, and NKU’s resources. A self-administered survey will be used to assess for stability and academic success. The results from this IRB approved study are expected to show that foster care alumni experience greater academic success when they experience stability and are aware of available resources. The findings will also show that NKU lacks critical resources for this population. Mental Health differences among Black and White adults who experienced Childhood Maltreatment

The lack of cultural diversity in the mental health field causes there to be a lack of treatment options tailored to the needs of different ethnicities. This research paper examines the existing literature on the differences between black and white individuals’ experiences with trauma, and the ethnically-based treatment options suitable for black individuals who have suffered from childhood maltreatment.
