The Impact of Socio-Demographic Variables on Pro-Environmental Behaviour

    Get PDF
There is growing evidence that human society has already entered the age of global environmental crises. As human behaviour is undoubtedly contributing to environmental problems, it is important to analyse pro-environmental behaviour. Socio-demographic variables are widely used to investigate individual behaviour; the aim of this study was to analyse how they influence pro-environmental behaviour in a Central and Eastern European country. An online survey was conducted among 442 participants aged 18+ in Hungary, and Spearman's rho, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test univariate ANOVA and regression analysis were used to analyse the relationship between socio-demographic variables and pro-environmental behaviour. The results show that age and the number of children a person has are positively associated with pro-environmental behaviour. In addition, women and members of civic organisations tend to have higher levels of pro-environmental behaviour. Using these significant socio-demographic variables in green segmentation and in developing complex models of pro-environmental behaviour is therefore recommended

Abusive Supervision as a Trigger for Resentment: Do Envy and Psychological Contract Violation Matter?

    Get PDF
This study examines the direct and indirect effects of abusive supervision on resentment, psychological contract violation, and envy and investigates the importance and performance of the three antecedent variables on resentment. The research is quantitative, explanatory, and cross-sectional. The sample was non-probabilistic and comprised employees of the Mexican export manufacturing industry. A PLS structural equation model and an importance-performance map were used. It was identified that abusive supervision generates envy and psychological contract violation and indirectly leads to resentment through these variables. The importance-performance map showed that envy is the variable that most leads to resentment, and given its effect on performance, opportunities for improvement were identified

“… the question is whether a people's democracy moving towards socialism should publish any idealistic historical studies based on conscientious archival research at public expense” The Hungarian government renewed the system of cultural relations abroad in the period following the First World War and the Trianon Dictate. As a result, it established several institutions abroad and restructured those already in operation. In the early 1920s, Hungarian scientific activities (archival publications, scholarship research, cultural and scientific dissemination) were launched in Vienna, the capital of independent Austria, by two Hungarian institutes. During the years of the Second World War, the publication of the yearbooks ceased. It was not until 1948 that they could be republished, and the Institute began editing them and preparing for the publication of the studies. In the meantime, however, the political atmosphere in Hungary had changed: the Communist Party had taken power and began to redefine history from a distorted point of view, and also to fight against the religious. All this did not favour the publication of this yearbook. Publication and printing were halted for political and professional reasons, regardless of the considerable up-front financial costs. In the end, the studies written were filed in the Ministry's archives and have remained mostly unpublished to this day. Végül a megírt tanulmányok a minisztérium irattárába kerültek, többnyire máig kiadatlanul

    Mechanical Studies of Subperiosteal Implants

    Get PDF
When designing subperiosteal implants, mechanical testing of the implant and abutment is inevitable. Subperiosteal implants and their abutments are medical devices made to order, so each implant requires a separate design, since each patient has a different bone surface, for which the implant must be designed. For the mechanical testing of subperiosteal implants, a new test apparatus was constructed, on which mechanical simulations were carried out, the subperiosteal implants were tested together with their abutments. In addition to the finite element analysis simulation, the test apparatus can also be used to determine how much force is generated by the chewing force on the subperiosteal implant and its abutment as a result of the chewing mechanism

Optimal Design of Shear Walls for Minimizing the Structural Torsion Using Cascade Optimization Algorithm

    Get PDF
Due to a large number of design variables involved in the optimization of RC structures, a multi stage cascade optimization is used. This algorithm speeds up an accurate optimal design for the large-scale structures reducing the number of variables by dividing single optimization to a number of stages such that the optimization of each stage starts with the optimum results of the previous one. Here, the first stage of cascade optimization method uses the assembling of the stiffness matrix of the entire RC structure for minimizing the torsion of the stories as an objective function. By assembling the stiffness matrix of the RC frame without shear walls and the shear wall alone, the length and thickness of the shear wall on each story are taken as design variables of the first stage. The optimized reinforcement arrangement of walls according to the required wall rebar area is the goal of the next stage. Using this method, designing the RC structure and minimizing the structural torsion of each floor simultaneously, can result in different length and thickness for the shear walls in different stories. Reducing the structural torsion leads to economical structure. Here, the MATLAB and ETABS interfacing are utilized

Friction Stir Welding of Laser-powder Bed Fusion Manufactured A20X

    Get PDF
This study investigates butt friction stir welding of 4 mm thick A20X plates, which were produced using additive manufacturing through laser-powder bed fusion. The plates were joined at varying process parameters, including different welding and rotational speeds. Both the microstructure and the mechanical strength of the joints were examined, comparing joints in both as-printed and as-welded conditions. The joints welded at a welding speed of 100 mm/min and a rotational speed of 1500 rpm exhibited superior mechanical properties compared to those produced with other parameter settings. The results show that decreasing the rotational speed while increasing the welding speed leads to the formation of tunnel defects, compromising joint integrity and resulting in lower ultimate tensile strength. In contrast, the combination of 100 mm/min welding speed and 1500 rpm rotational speed produced defect-free joints, with an average ultimate tensile strength of 335 MPa and an elongation at fracture of 8.5%
