AI in a globalised word: The eductional context of cultural and linguistic blases

    No full text
Generative AI tools, including large language models (LLMs), have witnessed increased popularity and have predominantly been trained using human-generated inputs. Nevertheless, as these AI models continue to expand across the Internet, there is a possibility that computer-generated content may be employed to train other AI models – or themselves – in a recursive loop. In this context, the issue of globalisation and its effect on AI-generated content appears to be a matter of increasing urgency. This paper explores how artificial intelligence is taught, used, and perceived in different cultural and educational contexts.  It also examines the implications of cultural biases embedded in large language models, the challenges of diversifying training data, and the ethical responsibility of AI deployment in global education systems

Introductory Analysis for Fatigue Testing of MEX Parts

The paper discusses the use of 3D printing technology in the production of machine parts and the impact of production parameters on load-bearing capacity. Numerical simulations and stochastic theories are used to determine the effects of cyclic external loading conditions, which are typical in the vehicle industry. However, these numerical simulations must have many material property parameters. The study focuses on the material characteristics of Material Extruded (MEX) polymers, specifically PLA, and the impact of production direction and manufacturing parameters on the material's properties. The paper concludes that further investigation is necessary to determine specimens' dynamic load-bearing capacity and understand orthotropic materials' behavior

Performance Evaluation of a Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain on Compression Ignition Engine in Terms of Energy Consumption Using Intelligent Cruise Control

One of the contemporary trends is to emphasize the benefits of using hybrid drives over conventional ones. Due to the growing popularity of this category of drives, research on the optimization of energy consumption is becoming increasingly popular. The paper presents research on a selected plug-in hybrid drive unit of one of the most popular vehicle manufacturers in the European Union. The research process itself was based on the assessment of the use of active DISTRONIC cruise control as a tool that can influence the optimization of energy consumption of the tested drive unit. The experiment was conducted in real road conditions. Analyses were carried out for several drive system configuration modes: hybrid, E-mode, E-save and charging. The results of the experiment indicated the most optimal drive setting mode on expressways. These analyses emphasize the significant role of intelligent systems as a tool that allows for the optimization of energy consumption of vehicles equipped with plug-in hybrid units. The presented research is dedicated to users of this category of vehicles, while at the same time providing an answer to the question of how to effectively use the described drive unit in real operating conditions

Az egyetemi könyvtárak szervezeti önértékelése a KMÉR és az ESG 2015 követelményei szerint

This study supports the organizational self-assessment process of universitylibraries. The compilation expands the evaluation criteria of KMÉR byidentifying concrete examples relevant to the university sector. Universitylibraries are closely connected to their parent institutions, contributing dataand information to the university's quality management and accreditationprocesses based on the ESG 2015 framework. This comprehensive selfassessmentis supported by the collection that summarizes the qualityassurance guidelines and standards of the European Higher EducationArea, along with related issues that can also be examined within universitylibraries. The study reviews and presents the points of connection, illustrating how the quality management documentation of universitylibraries – prepared in accordance with the KMÉR criteria – aligns with theuniversity's quality management system and the ESG 2015 standards thatdefine quality assurance in higher education.

Biotechnological Valorization of Crude Glycerol from Biodiesel Industry: Xanthan Production in Lab-scale Bioreactor by Xanthomonas euvesicatoria

In this study, xanthan production by local wild-type Xanthomonas euvesicatoria PL4 strain in a 3 L stirred tank bioreactor from a medium containing crude glycerol generated in biodiesel industry was examined, and properties of separated biopolymer were determined. Xanthan was biosynthesized by submerged batch cultivation of producing microorganism in a medium with glycerol content of 20 g/L. The bioprocess was monitored by analysis of cultivation medium at predetermined time intervals, and its success was estimated based on the xanthan concentration in the medium, degree of initial glycerol conversion into xanthan, degree of metabolized glycerol conversion into xanthan, degree of glycerol conversion, degree of total nitrogen conversion, and degree of total phosphorus conversion. Xanthan in concentration of 13.31 g/L was biosynthesized under the applied experimental conditions, and total glycerol, nitrogen, and phosphorous conversions of 76.23%, 64.70%, and 40.63% were achieved, respectively. The results obtained in this study suggest that the applied strain has the ability to produce xanthan with excellent properties on a crude glycerol-based medium. The findings of this study can contribute to future investigations which will aim to improve the production of xanthan on crude glycerol-based medium and find new possibilities for its application
