Effective Integration of Teaching Aids and Equipment in Afghan Secondary Physics: A Study of Students Interests, Perceptions and Performance
Students’ interest is vital and valuable in their academic performance, learning and outcomes of physics. Effective utilization of Teaching Aids and Equipment (TAE) have a positive influence on the students’ interest. This study explored students’ interest in learning physics by utilization of TAE. A questionnaire survey method was employed for (n=100) secondary schools’ students. The findings revealed very high interest of students in learning physics through “utilizing TAE” with 81% responses and their eagerness for “observing TAE” with 98% ones. Our findings suggest considering effective integration of TAE to promote interactive and collaborative learning environment for positive outcomes and best performance of students in physics.departmental bulletin pape
A Survey on LGBTQ+ Knowledge and Inter-Minority Empathy: A Comparison by Age Group
This study surveyed 439 people online about their knowledge and attitudes towards LGBTQ+ and sexual minorities. The hypotheses were that there would be differences in knowledge and attitudes towards LGBTQ+ and sexual minorities depending on age groups. In particular, I hypothesized that people in their 40s, 50s and older would have less knowledge and awareness than those in their 20s and 30s, and that regardless of age groups, people with high inter-minority empathy would have a high level of knowledge and awareness of LGBTQ+ and sexual minorities. People in their 20s and 30s had more knowledge and a more positive attitude towards LGBTQ+ and sexual minorities than people in their 40s, 50s and older. However, when it came to the question of whether or not LGBTQ+ and sexual minorities should be taught in schools, the 40-year-olds were the most negative. This was thought to be because the 40-year-olds grew up at a time when LGBTQ+ people were the subject of ridicule and discriminatory comments were tolerated, and at the same time there was no appropriate education in schools. The results of the survey proved both hypotheses. It was considered that discrimination and prejudice against various minorities could be decreased by using the concept of inter-minority empathy in school education in the future.departmental bulletin pape
Problems and Development of Research on Personality in the Domains of Health and Adjustment: Enhancing Social Effectiveness, Causal Estimation Accuracy, and Reproducibility
In psychology, personality has been a popular topic for more than fifty years. The current paper deliberated about various present problems regarding personality research, aiming to suggest the possibilities to develop future research in the right direction. First, it was cleared what personality is, citing the past consistency debate of personality. However, even if personality was clearly defined, individual personality characteristics include their own problems concerning detailed concepts and assessment methods. Although those problems remain unsolved until now, the present paper suggested some possible solutions. Second, it was indicated that personality research includes problematic research designs to predict causality. In addressing the problems, more faultless longitudinal or predictive designs were indicated, touching the difficulties of intervention or experimental studies. Finally, several problems in applying fundamental research findings on personality especially to children’s health and adjustment in school education were discussed, also suggesting some possible solutions of the problems. Taken together, it was considered throughout the paper how social effectiveness and reproducibility of research can be achieved in research of personality.departmental bulletin pape

Analysis of acquiring “geographical perspective” during university entrance examinations; focus on the perspectives of “position and distribution”
This study explored the acquisition of “geographical perspective” in university students who took high school geography and history studies under the former courses of the study. The two main findings of the analysis are as follows. 1. The percentage of correct answers in the quiz to match the distribution map of disaster lore monuments to disasters was less related to the status of geography lessons taken in high school and geography examinations in entrance examinations. 2. Whether students could apply their “geographical perspective” while providing correct answers on the quiz was largely influenced by their geography studies in upper secondary school and their geography examinations in the university entrance examinations.departmental bulletin pape
A study on the Mental Benefits of creating and Appreciating Haiku
Haiku is the shortest poem in the world, and it contains a variety of things such as the Japanese sense of beauty, view of nature, philosophy, thought, and sentiment. Haiku also has the rule. That is to say, Haiku requires seasonal word and it must compose of 17 syllables. In order to deepen understanding of haiku with these characteristics, we set the themes of mindfulness in haiku, relationship of haiku between emotions, and the dialogue and interaction between haiku creators and appreciators, and conducted bibliographical and empirical research. From the results, we considered the mental benefits of creating and appreciating haiku. In the final chapter, we provide a research perspective on the relationship between haiku and character strengths, and suggest the possibility of applying it to education for children and adolescents who are in the process of human growth.departmental bulletin pape
Influence of teachers’ credibility in the principal on teaching practices: Based on a questionnaire survey of el ementary scho ol teachers
The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the components that make up ‘credibility in the principal’ (leadership behaviour) and teachers’ perceptions as well as the overall impact of credibility in the principal on teacher collaboration, educational quality, and teacher job satisfaction. A survey of 700 elementary school teachers from across Japan identified three factors as leadership behaviour that form credibility in the principal: ‘empowerment,’ ‘ability to perform’ and ‘sense of responsibility.’ Of these, ‘empowerment’ was the highest factor in relation to credibility in the principal. Furthermore, it was confirmed that credibility generates ‘collaboration among teachers’ and this collaboration influences the development of children who learn independently and the trust of their parents. It was also confirmed that credibility in the principal, collaboration among teachers, nurturing of children who learn independently, and trust from their parents, all contribute to job satisfaction as a teacher.departmental bulletin pape
