Lead Poisoning Is Serious Childhood Problem

Older houses, especially ones that are poorly maintained, are linked to lead poisoning because they were usually painted with lead paint. Measures that are being taken to address the problem are to step up blood screenings of children and to test pre-1950 rental properties, but with the severe housing shortage, some residents may have no choice about where to live.
