Optimization and flexibility of the stock management process of a consumables warehouse : the case of Toyota Caetano Portugal

The management of human talent has never had such an impact as it does today, and the survival of industries is now related to their competitiveness, which is influenced by their productivity level. This is maximized through investments in innovation related to both technology and the operational components, and by means of new working methods with the application of continuous improvement tools. The work described in this paper took place in this context and was carried out in the consumables warehouse of Toyota Caetano Portugal S.A. (Ovar plant), with the objective of developing a new management method. The project was developed in five stages: (1) analysis of the initial situation - AS IS, and design of -TO BE, using Toyota Production System (TPS) tools; (2) ABC analysis based on the last four years' consumption; (3) development and implementation of a new warehouse layout, with the respective identification of locations and product labelling; (4) insertion of data into the company’s enterprise resources planning (ERP) concerning locations and quantities in stock. These changes enabled a reduction of about 84% in the time spent by the operator in the retrieval of picking lists. In stage 5, a model for the management of consumable stocks was developed, based on the analysis of the last seven months’ consumption, daily average consumption and lead times, after defining the values of safety stocks and reorder points, to avoid failures and/or delays of material and consequent production stoppages and even the existence of obsolete stocks

Sendo um problema global da Humanidade, exige-se uma cooperação também global dos vários atores que compõem as Relações Internacionais, nomeadamente no plano mundial (ONU), regional (UE) e local (Câmara Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis) para mitigar os efeitos das alterações climáticas. Esta questão ambiental revolucionou a lógica da sociedade internacional, atribuindo poder a novos protagonistas na cena internacional: os Municípios que passam a integrar redes internacionais de cooperação dando lugar a uma governança multinível (Governança global) que, por sua vez, complementa com a cooperação clássica da política internacional monopolizada pelos Estados. É um problema a ser estudado de forma transversal com recurso às Teorias Verdes. Seguindo a metodologia da investigação académica, iremos apoiar a nossa pesquisa de artigos de publicações em série acreditados na Web of Science, bem como bibliografia, trabalhos académicos e recursos da Internet existentes.Climate change is one of the many challenges to International Relations, bringing an issue to the theoretical debates of the discipline, while also having a profound impact on the interrelationship between its various actors. Being a global problem of Humanity, it requires a global cooperation of the various actors that make up the International Relations, namely at world (UN), regional (EU) and local (Câmara Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis) levels, to mitigate the effects of climate change. This environmental issue has revolutionized the logic of international society, giving power to new protagonists in the international scene: the Municipalities. These integrate international networks giving rise to a multi-level governance that opposes the classic cooperation of international politics monopolized by States. It is a problem to be studied transversally using green theories. Following the methodology of scientific research, we will support our analysis on accredited serials articles, namely in B-ON and Web of Science, as well as bibliography, existing academic papers, and internet resources
Reabilitação & sustentabilidade : o caso da "ilha" António Carneiro, no Porto
No full textDissertação de mestrado em ArquiteturaExame público realizado a 3 de maio de 2024, às 10hA reabilitação de habitações construídas em períodos anteriores aos movimentos ambientalistas e ecologistas dos anos 60 e 70 constitui um desafio suplementar para o arquiteto, em particular quando estão em causa espaços cuja consolidação habitacional ocorreu em parcelas exíguas nas traseiras de casas burguesas da cidade do Porto no século XIX e primeira metade de XX – falamos das “ilhas”, para as quais também se exige (ou devia exigir) intervenções sustentáveis. Pensando na especificidade das “ilhas” questionamo-nos até que ponto os sistemas de avaliação para a sustentabilidade se adequam às imprescindíveis obras de reabilitação. Em linha com esta pergunta de partida, perseguimos o objetivo de inferir sobre as possibilidades de adoção de medidas de sustentabilidade utilizando como caso de estudo a “ilha” de António Carneiro, na cidade do Porto. Nesse sentido, ancorados na discussão teórica em torno da sustentabilidade e reabilitação, selecionamos o sistema LiderA para suportar a análise e avaliação detalhada do caso em apreço. Antes, porém, tivemos o cuidado que observar aspetos construtivos genéricos de mais duas “ilhas” - S. Vitor e Belavista -, bem como de mais dois sistemas de certificação – BREAM e LEED. Da recolha de dados, in loco, com recurso ao Datalogeer, e de entrevistas junto do arquiteto responsável, foi possível encetar um conjunto de exercícios que convergem para a simulação da avaliação LiderA, resultando no diagnóstico da sua (des)adequação aos princípios de intervenção para a sustentabilidade. Reconhece-se que, embora e resultado para o caso de estudo seja de “B”, o sistema LiderA afigura-se fundamental enquanto instrumento de orientação da ação do arquiteto que persegue intervenções sustentáveis. Apesar das limitações do estudo, avançamos, também, com uma recomendação no sentido de transformar o LiderA num documento simplificado de boas-práticas, que possa ser utilizado pelos usuários das habitações, cuja ação pode ser determinante, também, para o bom desempenho dos edifícios.Houses rehabilitation, built before the environmental and ecologist movements of the 60s and 70s, constitutes an additional challenge for the architect, particularly when it comes to spaces whose housing consolidation took place in small plots, at the back of bourgeois houses, in the city of Porto in 19th century and the first half of the 20th – we speak of “ilhas”, for which sustainable interventions are also required (or should be required). Thinking about the specificity of “ilhas”, we question the extent to which sustainability assessment systems are adapt to the essential rehabilitation works. In line with this, we pursue the objective of inferring the possibilities of adopting sustainability measures using “ilha” of António Carneiro, in the city of Porto, as a case study. In this sense, anchored in the theoretical discussion around sustainability and rehabilitation, we selected the LiderA system to support the detailed analysis and evaluation of the case in question. Before, however, we observe generic construction aspects of two more “ilhas” - S. Vitor and Belavista -, as well as two more certification systems – BREAM and LEED. From data collection, on site, using Datalogeer, and interviews with the responsible architect, it was possible to initiate a set of exercises that converge to the simulation of the LiderA evaluation, resulting in the diagnosis of its (in)adequacy with the intervention principles for sustainability. It is recognized that, although the result for the case study is “B”, the LiderA system appears fundamental as an instrument for guiding the action of the architect who pursues sustainable interventions. Despite the limitations of the study, we also come forward with a recommendation to transform LiderA into a simplified document of good practices, which can be used by housing users, whose action can be, also, decisive for the good performance of buildings
O impacto dos meios digitais no setor do entretenimento musical em Portugal, um retrato pré, durante e pós Covid-19
Get PDFMestrado em GestãoExame Público realizado em 30 de novembro de 2023Com a consciencialização e declaração da situação pandémica a 2 de Março de 2020, verificou-se tanto em Portugal como em grande parte do Mundo, o encerramento massificado de espaços que pudessem compreender grandes aglomerados de pessoas, entre os quais salas de espetáculos, anfiteatros e outros recintos. Sucederam-se várias fases de confinamento que impediram todo o setor de entretenimento musical de trabalhar e paralelamente de ficar sem a sua principal fonte de rendimento, os espetáculos ao vivo.
Reunidos todos os fatores para a imposição de uma tendência que já vinha a crescer com o passar dos anos, deu-se a aceleração da adoção dos meios digitais tornando se essencial para praticamente todos os artistas marcar a sua presença no mundo online.
É nesse mesmo âmbito que se insere o presente trabalho, procurando avaliar o impacto que os meios digitais tiveram no setor do Entretenimento Musical em Portugal, retratando o momento pré, durante e pós-pandémico. Com esta investigação pretende-se compreender de que forma as ferramentas digitais contribuíram para a prevalência ou até mesmo subsistência desta indústria num momento conturbado, analisar os meios que surgiram durante as várias fases de confinamento e ainda perceber de que forma poderá ser aproveitada a aprendizagem obtida durante este período para aplicar esse conhecimento no negócio do entretenimento musical no futuro.
Este trabalho desenvolveu uma pesquisa qualitativa através da aplicação de entrevistas em profundidade. Assim que reunidas as informações do setor e analisadas as entrevistas com profissionais da área, foi possível compreender que a totalidade dos elementos entrevistados considera as ferramentas digitais essenciais para as carreiras artísticas em Portugal.
Os resultados revelaram também que estas ferramentas são vantajosas para os artistas permitindo-lhes conquistar notoriedade, vender merchandising e bilhetes, promover concertos e interagir com o seu público.
Quanto às estratégias utilizadas, verificou-se que a maior barreira está relacionada com a rentabilização dos conteúdos criados digitalmente, no entanto destacam-se alguns casos de sucesso como as livestreams para efeitos de promoção e divulgação de trabalhos, as lojas online para venda de merchandising e produtos oficiais dos artistas / bandas, a subscrição de comunidades pagas com conteúdos exclusivos e ainda a vertente educacional.
Esta pesquisa identificou ainda que os profissionais irão considerar as aprendizagens feitas durante a pandemia e manter a aposta nos meios digitais no futuro.
Palavras-chave: Meios Digitais; Entretenimento Musical; Pandemia; Artistas.With the awareness and declaration of the pandemic on March 2, 2020, there was a widespread closure in Portugal, as in most of the world, of spaces that could accommodate large crowds of people, like theaters and other venues. Simultaneously, various phases of lockdown were implemented, preventing an entire sector from working and depriving them of their main source of income - live performances.
All the factors came together to establish a trend that had been growing over the last few years, the acceleration of the adoption of digital media, becoming an essential tool for all artists to establish their presence online.
It is within this scope that the present work seeks to assess the impact that digital means had on the Music Entertainment sector in Portugal, depicting the pre, during, and post-pandemic moments. This research aims to understand how digital tools contributed to the prevalence or even the survival of this industry during a turbulent time, analyze the means that emerged during the various phases of lockdown and explore how the lessons learned during this period could be applied to the business in the future.
This work conducted qualitative research through the application of in-depth interviews. Once the information was gathered as well as some interviews with industry professionals were analyzed, it was possible to understand that all the respondentsconsider digital tools essential for artistic careers in Portugal.
The results also revealed that these tools are advantageous for artists, enabling them to gain visibility, sell merchandise and tickets, promote their concerts, and eveninteract with their audience.
Regarding the strategies used, it is recognized that the main challenge lies in monetizing the created content, but some successful cases stood out, such as livestreams for promotion and dissemination of their work, online stores for selling merchandise and official products, subscription to paid communities with exclusive content and educational content such as courses and masterclasses.
This research project further reveals that professionals will consider the lessons learned during the pandemic and continue to invest in digital tools in the future.

About ethics, law and justice : between appearances and essences (from John Rawls to Joker of Todd Philipps)

Sendo assim, é fundamental, numa temática ético-política, refletir sobre o concreto desafio de aplicabilidade dos princípios éticos ao problema da regulação e organização social. Neste ensejo, urge abordar criticamente o problema da justificação do Estado, o que torna legítimo (moral) e não só legal o seu poder e, de forma correlata, o problema da justiça social. Para lá da consideração do apport clássico, centraremos a nossa análise na teoria da justiça social de John Rawls, refletindo, a final, sobre o lastro de contributo da obra de Todd Phillips na realização e assunção da fragilidade humana entre Ética, ius e Justiça.The approach of some of the fundamental problems of political philosophy, being, in large part, the application of moral principles to the problems of the organization of life in society, necessarily implies that the ethical plan is not abandoned. Therefore, it is fundamental, in an ethical-political theme, to reflect on the concrete challenge of the applicability of ethical principles to the problem of regulation and social organization. In this sense, there is an urgent need to critically address the problem of state justification, what makes its power legitimate (and moral) and not only legal and, in a correlate way, the problem of social justice. In addition, we will focus our analysis on John Rawls theory of social justice, reflecting, ultime, on the contribution of Todd Phillips vision and input on the assumption of human fragility, between Ethics, Ius/Law and Justice

A afirmação da arquitetura hipermoderna : operatividade e materialidade

Atualmente surgem projetos com formas extravagantes oriundas das novas tecnologias digitais da cultura-mundo global, assim como projetos que realçam as questões humanísticas e sensoriais. Esta dissertação pretende analisar a realidade arquitetónica atual, procurando perceber como as diferentes linguagens são produzidas e de que maneira se adaptam à sociedade atual.
O estudo, de início, passa por uma compreensão filosófica das características e dimensões da sociedade e do mundo hipermoderno. Dentro deste contexto, são apresentadas as diferentes linguagens arquitetónicas existentes e ainda as múltiplas ferramentas que permitem a criação dos diversos arquétipos da arquitetura atual. A nível teórico, são introduzidas as duas teorias hipermodernas que comandam o processo de produção da arquitetura do século XXI: a Hiper Teoria e a Teoria Projetiva. Equacionam-se os valores, as características e a historiografia que conduziram ao surgimento destas teorias. A introdução de alguns projetos hipermodernos que exemplificam o sentido prático, de cada uma dessas teorias. A presença final do ensaio projetual, pretende fazer uma reflexão interpretativa pessoal do tema estudado.
O desenvolvimento desta temática levou a uma melhor compreensão da atualidade e da complexidade que esta encerra. Procura entender quais os principais valores que orientam o projeto arquitetónico contemporâneo, assim como os diferentes mecanismos e métodos que possibilitam o desenvolvimento da arquitetura como forma transdisciplinar de afirmação da Hipermodernidade.In this Hypermodern time, the action field of architecture has undergone enormous changes. Currently, there are projects with extravagant forms arising from the new digital technologies of the global world-culture, as well as projects that emphasize humanistic and sensory issues. This dissertation intends to analyse the current architectural reality, trying to understand how the different languages are produced and how they adapt to the current society.
The study, at first, involves a philosophical understanding of the characteristics and dimensions of society and the hypermodern world. Within this context, the different existing architectural languages are presented, as well as the multiple tools that allow the creation of the various archetypes of current architecture. At a theoretical level, the two hypermodern theories that command the production process of 21st century architecture are introduced: the Hyper Theory and the Projective Theory. The values, characteristics and historiography that led to the emergence of these theories are equated. The introduction of some hypermodern projects that exemplify the practical sense of each of these theories. The final presence of the design essay intends to make a personal interpretative reflection on the subject studied.
The development of this theme led to a better understanding of the current situation and the complexity it entails. It seeks to understand the main values that guide contemporary architectural design, as well as the different mechanisms and methods that enable the development of architecture as a transdisciplinary form of affirmation of Hypermodernity
