Elementary Education Capstone
This capstone project focuses on developing and implementing a literacy unit centered on textual evidence. The unit includes three lesson plans designed to help students understand how to find, analyze, and use textual evidence to support their ideas. Each lesson builds on the previous one, using a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent work to gradually increase student confidence and skill in citing evidence.
To measure student understanding, a variety of assessments were integrated throughout the unit. These included formative assessments, such as class discussions and written responses, as well as summative assessments that evaluated students’ ability to apply their learning in more structured tasks. The results of these assessments helped determine how well students grasped the concept of textual evidence and where additional support was needed.
Overall, this capstone demonstrates how a well-structured unit on textual evidence can improve students’ literacy skills. It highlights the role of explicit teaching, interactive activities, and ongoing assessment in fostering critical reading and analytical thinking. The findings from this project contribute to best practices in literacy education and offer insights into effective strategies for teaching textual evidence in a classroom setting

Optimal Prediction of Bitcoin High and Low Prices: An Exploratory Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to provide traders with a trader friendly model that would enable them to accurately predict Bitcoin’s high price and low price so that they are able to make more informed decisions for improved risk management when trading the highly volatile asset – Bitcoin. To achieve this purpose, this paper poses the following research question: Which statistical model-frequency combination best predicts – in terms of Mean Absolute Percent Error (MAPE), Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and Schwart Information Criterion (SIC) – Bitcoin’s high price and low price? This paper also poses the objective of ensuring that the research question is both answered and that the statistical model-frequency combination selected is trader friendly or in other words, both easy to implement and interpret. To answer the research question and to meet the objectives of this paper, this paper develops two types of statistical models – Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Autoregressive Distributed Lags (ARDL). These models are developed across multiple frequencies – daily, weekly, and monthly. These statistical models and frequencies are chosen due to their trader friendliness, which aligns with the objective of this paper. Results for each of these models training sets show that the ARDL Bull Weekly model best predicts Bitcoin’s high price while the ARDL Bull Monthly model best predicts Bitcoin’s low price. To test the robustness of these two models, each model is tested on 7 robustness tests that incorporate out of sample data that covers various market conditions from 2011 to 2024. Results for the robustness tests show that both the ARDL Bull Weekly model and ARDL Bull Monthly model are highly robust for the out of sample data and market conditions they are tested on. This is evident in both models’ remarkable average mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) across out of sample robustness tests of 1.3% (ARDL Bull Weekly) and 3.28% (ARDL Bull Monthly). This indicates that these models could be used by traders to accurately predict Bitcoin’s high price and low price so that they are able to make more informed decisions for improved risk management
Theoretical Proof of and Proposed Experimental Search for the Ground Triplet State of a Wigner-Regime Two-Electron ‘Artificial Atom’ in a Magnetic Field
It is experimentally established that there is no ground triplet state of the natural He atom. There is also no exact analytical solution to the Schrödinger equation corresponding to this state. For a two-dimensional two-electron ‘artificial atom’ or a semiconductor quantum dot in a magnetic field, as described by the Schrödinger–Pauli equation, we provide theoretical proof of the existence of a ground triplet state by deriving an exact analytical correlated wave function solution to the equation. The state exists in the Wigner high-electron-correlation regime. We further explain that the solution satisfies all requisite symmetry and electron coalescence constraints of a triplet state. Since, due to technological advances, such a Wigner crystal quantum dot can be created, we propose an experimental search for the theoretically predicted ground triplet-state spectral line. We note that there exists an analytical solution to the Schrödinger–Pauli equation for a ground singlet state in the Wigner regime for the same value of the magnetic field. The significance to quantum mechanics of the probable experimental observation of the ground triplet state for an ‘artificial atom’ is discussed
The Immediate Effects on Shoulder Internal Rotation Motion and External Rotation Strength Following a Muscle Energy Technique in a Young Overhead Thrower: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION Glenohumeral internal rotation deficit (GIRD), total rotational motion (TRM) deficit, and weakness of the rotator cuff have been determined to be potential risk factors for the development of shoulder and elbow injuries in the overhead thrower. The causes for these deficiencies are multifactorial and the ability to identify and correct those deficits could decrease the potential for injury. Therefore, the purpose of this case report was to investigate the immediate effects of a muscle energy technique (MET) on shoulder internal rotation ROM and external rotation strength in the throwing shoulder of an overhead thrower.
CASE DESCRIPTION The subject of this case report was a 20-year-old collegiate baseball pitcher without any reported previous injury that presented with a loss of passive shoulder internal rotation at 90 degrees of abduction, a deficit in TRM, and weakness of the external rotators as determined by handheld dynamometry. The athlete was identified during a pre-sport screening for overhead throwers. Following the assessment, a MET was performed for shoulder internal rotation in a side-lying position.
OUTCOME The athlete demonstrated an immediate 38-degree improvement in shoulder internal rotation motion, reduction in TRM deficit from 42 degrees to 4 degrees, and 7.8% increase in shoulder external rotation strength.
DISCUSSION It is not uncommon for symptomatic and asymptomatic overhead throwers to present with GIRD, TRM deficit, and rotator cuff weakness. The ability to improve these deficits following the application of a MET could imply that the deficits are linked. Previous studies have identified different methods that improve internal rotation ROM but have not documented possible related outcomes in external rotation strength. Future research should examine the potential mechanism for such a response to the MET, and if these changes have a lasting effect, as only short-term effects were examined.

Jewish Students’ Experiences of Antisemitism in Higher Education Settings and Daily Occupations
An alarming increase in antisemitism compromises Jewish students’ sense of safety and may result in occupational injustice. This study aimed to explore Jewish students’ exposure to antisemitism and its impact on their mental health and daily occupations. A survey about exposure to antisemitism, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder seven-item scale, and the Brief Resilience Scale were completed by 147 university students nationally; 57.3% reported direct experiences with antisemitism and 63.4% were exposed as bystanders. This exposure jeopardized students’ sense of safety, occupations such as social participation, sleep, and rest, and ability to plan their future. Students reported being severely anxious (M = 15.45, SD = 6.28) despite moderate resilience (M = 3.39, SD = 0.34). Efforts to create a culture of belonging should include initiatives to combat antisemitism. It is essential for occupational therapy faculty to develop educational programs for practitioners and students as well as other professionals to prevent occupational injustice among Jewish students
I Cry a lot but I Am so Productive: It’s an Art(ist) Driven Community
Community ecosystems are typically full of local talent in the form of creative entrepreneurs, who nurture and help sustain the resilience of place-based communities. Hence, mutual influence between creative entrepreneurs, community members/outsiders, and organizations are necessary for place-based communities to thrive. Using qualitative data from 30 interviews with creative entrepreneurs and organizations in the Lehigh Valley community ecosystem, we inductively develop a conceptual model of how and why creative entrepreneurs influence place-based communities. We find that creative entrepreneurs’ identities come in three distinct forms—the obsessed, starving, and tortured artists—all which play a critical intertwining role in community building, commerce, and development. Furthermore, creative entrepreneurs apply a broad range of actions, including fundraising and community building that crystallize the identity of their given community. Our study contributes to the literatures on entrepreneurial identity and the development and evolution of place-based communities by advancing a process-model that identifies the full range of interactions across key actors in a community place ecosystem and the role of creative entrepreneurs in these communities
The Effects of Maximal and Supramaximal Accentuated Eccentric Loading on the Barbell Bench Press
The effects of maximal and supramaximal accentuated eccentric loading on the barbell bench press. J Strength Cond Res XX(X): 000-000, 2025-The effects of accentuated eccentric loading (AEL) were examined on barbell bench press mean and peak performance metrics across various concentric and eccentric loads. Eighteen strength-trained men (age: 23.8 ± 4.0 years; height: 180.2 ± 5.7 cm; body mass: 95.8 ± 6.6 kg, training age: 2 ± 14 years, bench press 1 repetition maximum (1RM): 120.7 ± 17.0 kg, relative strength ratio: 1.27 ± 0.17 kg·kg-1) participated. Subjects completed repetitions using concentric loads ranging from 40 to 80% 1RM in 10% increments during each experimental session. The AEL protocols used 100% (AEL100) or 110% (AEL110) of concentric 1RM during the eccentric action, and the eccentric load remained the same as the concentric load during the traditional loading session. An analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the effects of loading condition and concentric load (3 × 5) on concentric power, force, velocity, and eccentric repetition duration. Greater concentric force outputs were observed at 60-80% loads compared with 40% (p \u3c 0.05). In addition, 40% loading elicited greater concentric velocities compared with the 60-80% loads (p \u3c 0.05). The magnitude of the concentric load showed a greater change in performance metrics than the loading condition, alluding to AEL protocols having too great an effect on movement mechanics to result in consistent performance enhancements. Thus, it seems the efficacy of AEL at various concentric loads depends on the magnitude of eccentric loading and the relative strength index of subjects
Winning the Human Resources Challenge When Expanding Internationally: Focus on China
As educators, we seek engaging ways to demonstrate the crucial importance of developing appropriate management (HR) practices when undertaking international expansion. In this exercise, teams are asked to formulate and justify human resource/talent management policy modifications that contribute to a competitive advantage for a hypothetical North American niche grocery chain (Friendly & Fresh Foods) planning expansion into China. The exercise\u27s unique value is its focus on the interconnectedness between business strategy, talent management, and culture in helping to “win” the local challenge when entering an unfamiliar territory where global leaders may need to adapt both competitive strategy and cultural practices to achieve business entry success. Recommendations are honed after consideration of their assigned home country\u27s business model (differentiation or cost leadership) and the host country\u27s culture. The choice of China as the expansion country serves to magnify the “distances” that must be examined when expanding internationally, in this case when a North American operation decides to expand its operations to China. The exercise\u27s theoretical foundation is informed by international business, global human resource management, and cultural research. The exercise\u27s effectiveness is well supported by graduate students who have experienced the exercise and by faculty evaluations of team presentations
