Issues and prospects for "subjective career" study related to "retention" of international students : From the viewpoint of Japanese language education
P(論文)This paper has two purposes from the viewpoint that it is necessary to promote not only the employment of international students but also subsequent "retention." One is to review previous studies, focusing on the "subjective careers" of international students and foreign employees, and the other is to gain perspectives for future studies. First, I organized the position of subjective careers in career theory and their research approaches and examined cultural influences and the role of language in subjective careers. Also, as a result of reviewing the involvement of Japanese language education, which is the language of the host country, I obtained the following five perspectives regarding the subjective career research of international students and foreign employees in the future.
1) It is necessary to grasp the subjective career in a continuous-time framework rather than temporarily.
2) The elements of the subjective careers of international students and foreign employees in Japan must be clarified. 3) Is there a difference in the elements of the subjective career depending on the culture of the origin? 4) How is the acquisition of Japanese, which is the language of the host society, involved in the formation of the subjective career? 5) How does the culture of origin affect subjective career development, and how is it adjusted for cross-cultural adaptation?departmental bulletin pape
A Quantitative Study of Sentencing Standards for the Term of Imprisonment to be Imposed for Sexual Offenses
P(論文)This article presents a quantitative sentencing standard for sexual offenses using statistical analyses of judicial precedents obtained from database. The analyses found the following. (1) The basic position on the sentencing standards for sexual offences is determined by the number of victims and the presence or absence and degree of injury related to the most serious case. (2) The victim's failure and drinking influence the range of the sentencing as modifying factors to the basic position determined in (1) above. And, (3) settlement out of court, likelihood of recidivism, youth, etc., exert an influence as modifying factors to the range of sentencing determined in (1) and (2) above to finally determine the sentencing. Japanese sentencing standards for sexual offences have revealed a tendency to emphasize results. In addition, the present study found that sexual offences against spouses, partners, and mentally-handicapped persons tended to receive lighter sentences, while sexual abuse by parents and teachers tended to receive heavier sentences. The study also reveals that sentencing for sexual offences has become moderately heavier in Japan over the 15-year period from 2002 to 2016.departmental bulletin pape
Dynamism of inter-organizational cooperation in regional universities--Modeling industry-academia collaboration in northern Nagasaki City
P(論文)The most important factor in inter-organizational collaboration between companies and local universities is the "boundary spanning personnel" that serves as a "joint" between the organizations. In this study, based on an example of regional revitalization in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, businesses, high schools, and others in the northern Nagasaki City, Our University is one of the missions of regional universities based on regional inter-organizational cooperation.
One of the greatest missions of regional universities is to contribute to regional management strategies that regional universities are trusted to take on as “knowledge” and influence the cooperation between regional organizations. It is to foster and supply "human resources" who are in charge of the environment.
Spinning with the community by returning value to the community is the dynamism of inter-organizational collaboration at local universities.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Fatigue Life Improvement of Boxing Fillet Welded Joints using Low Transformation Temperature Welding Material
P(論文)In our previous study, it was shown that the fatigue life of the boxing fillet welded joint was enhanced by about 10 times by applying the elongated bead welding with 40 mm bead length to the welded joint by using low transformation temperature (L.T.T.) welding material.
In this study, the followings were discussed, ① The estimation of the residual stress distribution of boxing fillet welded joint to which the elongated bead welding with L.T.T. welding material was applied, ② The work load and time of elongated bead welding on site welding, ③ The fatigue life enhancing effect of two elongated bead welding joints using different L.T.T. welding materials, L.T.T. 10Cr-10Ni filler metal (LTT1) and L.T.T. 6.5Mn filler metal (LTT2), ④ The fatigue life enhancing effect by using LTT2 with and without elongated bead applied to repair welding of boxing fillet welded joint with fatigue crack, ⑤ The fracture toughness of weld metal with LTT1 welding material, and so on.departmental bulletin pape
A Moral Education Lesson to Enhance Self-Affirmative Consciousness in Japan and Taiwan
This paper addresses clinical research on moral education lessons to enhance the self-affirmative consciousness of students in Japan and Taiwan. We conducted four lessons for fifth and sixth graders under the same conditions. The lesson was about the natural environment and was organized as a cooperative learning experience. The Association Method was employed as an assessment.
Prompted by the image of , response words such as “water,” “air,” and “environment” appeared in four classes after the lesson. Through the 60-minute lesson, more than half of the response words changed. This indicates that the children concentrated deeply on the lesson, and that it made an impression on them.
The results from the Japanese A and B and Taiwanese C and D schools were diverse. We compared the response words before andafter the lesson, using the Association Method by cue word , which shows self-affirmative consciousness. In class A, words that recognize the importance of nature appeared even in self-consciousness, and in class B, positive words increased and negative words decreased significantly (p < .05). In class C, consciousness of “oneself” and “family” increased, and in class D, “life” and “friend” increased. We interpreted these differences as a result of the children’s reflections on their own inner character and the historical background they have learned and not learned.departmental bulletin pape
Process Scheduling of a Shipbuilding Stockyard based on RCPSP Approach-- How to determine the positions of blocks stored in stock areas
First of all, the paper focuses the problem to construct a scheduling model of the stockyard in a shipyard in Japan, which should be verified by comparing the actual usages of facilities. Secondly it discusses the problem to determine the positions of blocks stored in stock areas. It is shown that these problems are formulated into RCPSP (Resource Constraint Project Scheduling Problem) and solved successfully using RCPSP-solver OptSeq developed by Prof. M. Kubo and Prof. K. Nonobe.departmental bulletin pape
