    Analysis of Readiness to Use the Metaverse Platform in Learning Activities

    Metaverse technology is one of the many technological breakthroughs in education, notably in the teaching and learning process in the classroom, especially since the COVID-19 epidemic. This study aims to investigate, model, and assess the potential adoption of metaverse technology from the viewpoint of BINUS University students. The study methodology that is employed is quantitative descriptive analysis. This research used Mozilla Hub's SPOKE to create the classroom simulation. Students are asked to use a laptop web browser and a Virtual Reality (VR) headset to replicate two scenarios from the metaverse realm. The variables used are comfort, convenience, compatibility, interest, and efficacy. The findings of this research indicate that a more significant number of participants, as much as 80% than fewer respondents (20%) were interested in employing VR (the Metaverse) for online teaching and learning using headsets. The novelty in this research is that academics can find out student behavior that they prefer to study using a VR headset compared to a regular laptop by opening a web browser. This can be a special note that the use of VR headsets in learning can increase interest in learning so that it is more effective in providing teaching material.     Financial Development Strategies: Defining Objectives and Priorities

    In recent years, scientific and practical interest in the strategic management of countries' financial development has grown significantly. However, an analysis of publications on this topic indicates the absence of a methodology to make strategic decisions on the formation of goals and priorities for financial development. The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology for the strategic management of the financial development of countries. The study uses methods of systemic, comparative, GEP analysis, and a rule-based judgment method. The result of the study is the development of a concept that allows defining strategy, quantified strategic goals and priorities for financial development, and its testing in OECD countries. The novelty of the research lies in the systematic approach to the formation of strategic goals and priorities based on the System of National Accounts, the multi-level system of key indicators of financial development, criteria formalizing alternative strategies, and rules for making strategic decisions. This is the first time such a concept has been proposed. The advantages of the developed concept are high representativeness, objectivity, and a wide range of applications.     Application and Data Integration Based on Services Oriented Architecture in Enterprise

    Business process changes occurred very often in organizations to maintain business continuity, which had an impact on information changes and process flow improvements. There are numerous companies that have problems managing data, information, and software applications, especially with the constant demands for employee information. This research objective is to integrate data and applications based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) by using the service-oriented modelling architecture (SOMA) software development method to solve the problem of producing updated and real-time information practically required by organization functions. This research result shows this implementation can help analyze the company's business model by generating information needs and service candidates that refer to SOA concepts. This implementation also gives a solid integration of in-house applications with different platforms and data sources from different databases with real time information. From a technical point of view, this implementation also reduces the duplication of business process functions and in-house application management, as well as simplifying and accelerating the creation of new or updating in-house applications related to new information requirements of the company.     The Influence of Motivation, Responsibility, Courage and Lecturer Teaching Performance on Student Satisfaction in Higher Education

    Students have always been looking for the best colleges or universities to continue their studies. These prospective students will try to find references by having one of them seek information from students who are currently at or have studied at the intended college or university. One of the factors they asked about was learning satisfaction at the intended college or university. Student learning satisfaction depends on several variables: student motivation, student responsibility, student courage in learning, and the lecturer's teaching performance. Based on this, the present research aimed to examine the four variables that have influence on student learning satisfaction, individually and in a group. The research used a quantitative approach and was conducted on students and lecturers at the Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, one of the state universities in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. The sample consisted of 83 participants, was studied using a descriptive correlational research model, and was drawn using a simple random sampling technique. Data were obtained through questionnaires and document studies and then analyzed using a regression model using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0.     Financial Solace: Malaysian Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency Responses to COVID-19 Challenges

    This study evaluates the measures undertaken by the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) to assist those financially distressed due to their inability to meet their financial commitments amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Adopting secondary analysis of qualitative data, relevant secondary data, including journal articles, annual reports, and newspaper articles, were analyzed. The study finds that measures adopted by AKPK in response to the COVID-19 pandemic include reinforcing the workforce, enhancing IT infrastructures, deploying digital platforms, using various media channels, introducing online apps, online portals, online webinars, online learning modules, and online payment facility for all debt management participants. AKPK is also entrusted with handling small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under the Small Debt Resolution Scheme. A dedicated SME Helpdesk is established to facilitate the process. AKPK's continual support to provide financial aid is reflected in its collaborative effort with the banking industry under the Financial Management and Resilience Program and the Financial Resilience Support Program. However, the government should seriously consider strengthening personal data protection laws because of AKPK's significant reliance on digital platforms. Similarly, appropriate government bodies must take quick action to address the digital divide issue and promote inclusion to reduce disparity in terms of access to online services offered by AKPK. Also, since certain individuals or SMEs with credit facilities with entities not regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia are deprived of this incentive, relevant regulators should undertake actions to provide a similar facility.     Artificial Intelligence-based Control Techniques for HVDC Systems

    The electrical energy industry depends, among other things, on the ability of networks to deal with uncertainties from several directions. Smart-grid systems in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) networks, being an application of artificial intelligence (AI), are a reliable way to achieve this goal as they solve complex problems in power system engineering using AI algorithms. Due to their distinctive characteristics, they are usually effective approaches for optimization problems. They have been successfully applied to HVDC systems. This paper presents a number of issues in HVDC transmission systems. It reviews AI applications such as HVDC transmission system controllers and power flow control within DC grids in multi-terminal HVDC systems. Advancements in HVDC systems enable better performance under varying conditions to obtain the optimal dynamic response in practical settings. However, they also pose difficulties in mathematical modeling as they are non-linear and complex. ANN-based controllers have replaced traditional PI controllers in the rectifier of the HVDC link. Moreover, the combination of ANN and fuzzy logic has proven to be a powerful strategy for controlling excessively non-linear loads. Future research can focus on developing AI algorithms for an advanced control scheme for UPFC devices. Also, there is a need for a comprehensive analysis of power fluctuations or steady-state errors that can be eliminated by the quick response of this control scheme.     Improving Metacognitive Ability and Learning Outcomes with Problem-Based Revised Bloom's Taxonomy Oriented Learning Activities

    This study aims to analyze the impact of Bloom's revised taxonomy-oriented learning activities with problem-based learning models on students' metacognitive skills and learning outcomes. A quasi-experimental design is used as the research method, and the quasi-experimental design is implemented as a pure post-test-control design. All fourth-year students participated in the study, with a total of 132 students participating. The sample was randomly selected and corresponded to 84 students. A 10-question test was used to collect the data. MANOVA with SPSS support was used as the analytical method. The significance of the test results was < 0.00. According to the results, 0.05. This means that learning that uses a combination of problem-based learning models and learning activities aligned with the revised Bloom taxonomy can influence students' metacognitive skills and learning outcomes. Students are at the central of their learning, so they are actively involved in the learning process. This learning activity develops students' metacognitive skills and provides an opportunity to reflect on what they know about themselves and to be honest and confident in their knowledge.     Anticancer Activity Study of Modified Artocarpin Compound from Pudau Plant (Artocarpus kemando Miq.)

    This research is a continuation of the successful isolation of artocarpin from the root of Artocarpus kemando Miq reported in our previous study. In the previous study, the artocarpin was characterized with UV-Vis and FTIR techniques. In this follow-up investigation, the artocarpin was subjected to a transesterification reaction using acetic anhydride and pyridine as catalysts, and the product of the reaction was specified as compound 1. The compound 1 was further characterized with different techniques to gain more complete data and then tested for anticancer activity test against P-388 murine leukemia cells. Characterizations of the compound 1 using 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR techniques suggest that the modification reaction resulted in the conversion of the -OH groups at C2' and 4' at the artocarpin molecule to -OOCH3, and based on the MS analysis, the compound was proposed to have the molecular formula of C30H32O8. Another important feature of compound 1 that should be noted is the significant improvement in stability compared to the unmodified artocarpin. Anticancer activity tests against P-388 murine leukemia cells revealed that compound 1 has an IC50of 2.35 µg/mL, confirming that the compound is categorized as an active anticancer agent and suggesting that the compound has promising potential that deserves further investigations. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-07-03-05 Full Text: PD

    Para-Social Interaction and Trust in Live-Streaming Sellers

    Live streaming is one of the modern methods that allows sellers to create, transmit, or broadcast some content on the internet in real-time, and it has been used by many small individual merchants. Understanding how live streaming contributes to online consumption is becoming increasingly important in social commerce as the live-streaming industry has grown more and more popular. However, the number of studies on live streaming is still quite limited in Vietnam. Therefore, this research will look at the mechanism that enables live streaming to boost customer trust in streamers. Using PLS-SEM on a sample of 360 respondents who viewed selling live streams on social network sites in Vietnam, we discovered that other members' endorsement, value similarity, hedonic value, and utilitarian value contribute to good para-social interaction. Next, utilitarian and hedonic values, streamer product expertise, and para-social interaction all positively affect trust in the streamers.     This study analyses the current scenario with COVID-19 affecting the international and Thai space law, and its impacts and corresponding repercussions upon the Thai economy, ASEAN region and then at international level. The methodology adopted for this study is a mixed method with qualitative research tools collected from key informant interviews and focus group discussions. The data analysis involves the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis, which has been integrated with Hierarchical Thematic areas to provide the supporting model for wholesome recommendations through analyzing the findings from the research. The key respondents involved several government officials associated with Thai space agencies and departments, along with judges, lawyers, researchers, academicians, non-government organizations (NGO) officials, and law students. The findings provided the need for adoption of Treaty leading to the creation of a space organization which would be accountable towards setting up a legal framework for commencement of space mining operations. The international space tribunal is to be created under this international space organization to resolve any disputes arising out of space mining.
