RELIGIOUS MODERATION UNVEILED: The Intersection of Textual and Contextual Approaches to Understanding Indonesian Muslims
This article examines the concept of religious moderation using an intersectional approach to illustrate the disparity in its interpretation between state policies and societal practice. Prior literature has explored religious moderation from doctrinal and security viewpoints. This study proposes a new perspective to enhance the understanding of religious moderation in the Indonesian context by presenting its interpretation through two distinct lenses. First, it examines the concept of religious moderation within the context of daily interactions among religious communities. Second, this article criticizes the state's intervention in religious moderation campaigns. This article argues that religious moderation is inherently intricate, a complexity that finds resonance in the stance adopted by the state and everyday civil practice. The contention here is that the multifaceted nature of religious moderation is not confined to theoretical discourse; it reverberates through the policies enacted by the state and is interwoven with the actions and routines of individuals within the society
THE DYNAMICS OF ACCEPTANCE AND RESISTANCE TO PRODUCTIVE WAQF: A Case Study of Mathali’ul Anwar and Al-Ishlah in Lamongan
This study aims to compare two productive waqf approaches in two boarding schools in Lamongan, namely Mathali'ul Anwar and Al-Ishlah through the lens of Max Weber's rational theory. The research method in this study uses a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews to understand the practice of productive waqf in both institutions. It was found that the dynamics of resistance to the application of productive waqf in Mathali'ul Anwar were then analyzed with theory of rationalization and the researcher concluded that the incident was in accordance with the concept of instrumental rational (zweckrational). The resistance to productive waqf found in Al-Ishlah can be understood in accordance with value-based rational concept (wertrational). This is concluded from the view of Kiai Khotib in developing productive waqf at Mathali'ul Anwar which is implemented systematically so that there is a change in social conditions in the form of acceptance of the waqf practice. Unlike the case in Al-Ishlah, Kiai Dawam's strong stance on the value of education causes other values to be displaced, including productive waqf based on economic independence. In addition, the results of this study also prove that James Peacock's typology of santri is refuted, that division of santri into reformist and traditionalist santri does not apply in this productive waqf case
THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN MARITAL DYNAMICS: Hadis Interpretation of Amina Wadud’s Hermeneutic
Abstract: Misogynist views emerged from gender-insensitive reading of hadiths that talk about women, are often used as legitimacy in perpetuating injustice and even violence against women in the domestic sphere. The hadith misinterpreted as a justification for a husband's authority over his wife is the hadith regarding women's service to their husbands. In this regard, this article attempts to dig up in-depth information regarding the hadith, by taking a hermeneutic approach in re-understanding the hadith. This research aims to create a new meaning that is not misogynistic, by referring to the feminist hermeneutic method offered by Amina Wadud. This research uses library methods to explore relevant information through books and journals. The results of this research show that although the concept of submissive marriage was the social context in which this hadith was born, practically, the Prophet never showed an authoritative attitude towards his wife. Keywords: Misogynist hadith, women's service, feminist hermeneutics, Amina Wadud, gender studies

In this context, this study examines the professional interests of the Generation Z group in contemporary Aceh. As qualitative research, this study has shown that some Generation Z groups continue to choose Islamic universities as their first choice of university. In public Islamic universities, the main trend of their professional interests is education and economics, with less interest in other fields such as sharia, and ushuluddin and da'wah. By relying on descriptive analytic of Hasbi’s work on the tafsir, it is found that he views the domestic justice encrypted in al-Nisâ’ 3 and 129 is both physical needs and psychological actualisation, which are to some extent impossible to be achieved by poligamy.
