The Carbon Footprint as a Key Indicator for Environmental Management Controllers: Towards Environmental Performance – A Literature Review
Environmental considerations are increasingly critical for corporate sustainability and success. While businesses integrate environmental management into their strategies, the practical implementation of environmental management control systems, or “eco-control,” remains underexplored. This paper examines the conditions necessary for effectively integrating carbon footprint requirements and regulatory codes into eco-control systems. We articulate the importance of environmental performance objectives in addition to traditional performance objectives as core values of control management. Additionally, we highlight the pivotal role of environmental management controllers in aligning environmental sustainability with traditional business objectives. By measuring greenhouse gas emissions and developing strategies that are both economically viable and environmentally sound, controllers embed environmental objectives into core business processes. Despite challenges like capturing indirect emissions and the lack of standardized reporting methods, they have the potential to make sustainability a strategic component of corporate management. Future research should focus on enhancing their role by developing better tools and standardized methodologies for measuring environmental performance
An extremely rare location of ectopic pregnancy, abdominal pregnancy is a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency. We report a case in a patient consulting for abdominal pain and metrorrhagia in eight months of amenorrhea with poor follow-up in a rural area. The physical and additional examinations carried out urgently upon admission made it possible to make the diagnosis of a progressive and advanced abdominal pregnancy and to immediately carry out surgical treatment. A laparotomy was performed allowing the extraction of a live male newborn weighing 2,460 g with the APGAR score of 7, 8 and 10/10 respectively at the first, fifth and tenth minutes of life. The placenta was easily detached and removed in its entirety. As the postoperative consequences were simple, the patient was discharged on the tenth postoperative day without cytostatic treatment
This article analyzes the criminogenic aspects of clandestine migration routes from the city of Daloa to Europe. According to several local and international organizations, Daloa is considered a hub of clandestine migration in Côte d'Ivoire. To collect the data, we conducted a survey of 34 returnees using a survey-interrogation technique, including group and individual interviews, as well as a closed- and open-response item-based questionnaire. These data were then analyzed using qualitative and content analysis methods. The results obtained from the exercises indicate that people engaged in clandestine migration routes from Daloa to Europe were exposed to several criminal acts such as scams, thefts, assaults, police blunders and robberies. According to the survey, this victimization is as much the result of the actions of law enforcement and security forces as of criminal groups.
The Conscious Leader: Elevating Awareness and Intentionality in Organizations
We live in a complex and rapidly changing world, where leaders’ role becomes more and more critical for organizational success. Effective leaders are expected not only to manage subordinates and administer tasks, but they should be able to motivative, inspire and drive employees to achieve common goals. To achieve this, leader should have high self-awareness and ability to understand and sense people, situations, environment. This is called “Consciousness”, which is built from values, beliefs and behaviors. This article explores the concept of leadership consciousness and its importance in today’s uncertain and complex environment. It claims that leadership consciousness plays pivotal role in building organizations core values, beliefs and purpose. Values and beliefs primarily affect leaders’ actions and decisions. By studying leader’s values, beliefs and behaviors we can have deeper understanding of their leadership style and effectiveness. Every leader operated from the levels of their consciousness. It is interesting to explore how leadership consciousness is built and what it plays in leaders’ success. a comprehensive guide how leaders can evaluate their level of consciousness and identify development areas. Traditional leadership frameworks lack emphasis on personal development. Leaders’ inner development is the key to cultivating consciousness to become authentic leaders, being able to build trust, respect, common values and purpose. The article analyzes several theoretical frameworks that are aligned to the leadership consciousness: Richard Barrett's Seven Levels of Leadership Consciousness model, which suggests that leaders develop through seven hierarchical levels. Also, Ken Wilber's Integral Theory, the "Conscious Capitalism" framework, study on mindfulness and leadership, value-based leadership approaches, and the theory of "Quantum Leadership." The article provides the following key findings: importance of aligning personal and organizational values, the correlation between cultural entropy, employee engagement and productivity, and the practical application of Barrett's model for leader development. This article represents valuable insights for leaders, managers, human resources professionals and individuals to gain more insights on the importance and role of leadership consciousness for developing self, building successful teams and lead organizations effectively
Freedom of Religion and Belief in International Documents and National Legislation
Human rights are protected by various international documents, reinforced by numerous legal acts and national legislation, underscoring their importance for individuals and, more broadly, for the development of each state. The extent to which human rights are effectively ensured, realized, and exercised within a state is directly linked to the degree of its democracy. Freedom of belief, religion, and conscience is among the most fundamental rights upon which the concept of a legal and democratic state is built. This right plays a crucial role in establishing religious and, more generally, democratic pluralism, which is essential for maintaining public peace and harmony. Therefore, this paper focuses on examining freedom of religion and belief as reflected in international documents and national legislation
Little is known about the experience of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in inclusive settings. The aim of this qualitative study is therefore to describe and understand the subjective experience of ADHD children in the inclusive school of the Centre National de Réhabilitation des Personnes Handicapées d'Etoug-Ebé, Yaoundé. The phenomenon was explored using a qualitative design. Five ADHD children participated in the study. The data were collected by means of an individual Rorschach test and then subjected to qualitative and interpretative analysis. The results paint a holistic picture of ADHD children's experiences, reflecting the negative aspects of their inclusive environment. Pragmatic recommendations, based on the results of the study, guide the inclusive practice and support of these children on a daily basis

In a world of digital revolution, schools are increasingly forced to adopt technological innovations to develop learners' skills. However, the promotion of educational technologies in areas where many schools lack subsequent resources is a real challenge. This article aims to study the influence of the pedagogical integration of information and communications technologies (ICT) on the development of digital competencies of learners in rural areas. A quantitative methodological approach was used to operationalize this objective. The theoretical framework based on Vygotsky's social constructivist theory (1985) helped to contextualize our research and interpret the results obtained. A questionnaire was distributed to 95 participants. The data collected were analyzed using a simple linear regression test performed with the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS.20.1). The results reveal that the use of empowering tools, the practice of gamification and the use of startups in learning develop learners' digital competencies. Despite the challenges in this domain, the prospects for integrating ICT into education in rural areas are promising. The study suggests that, by drawing on the principles of socio-constructivist theory fostering a collaborative learning culture, it is possible to turn these challenges into opportunities for developing learners' digital skills
Bridging Linguistic Gaps through Translation of COVID-19 Terms from English into Albanian
During the critical period of the global COVID-19 outbreak, Albania, like many other nations, faced the urgent need to communicate vital public health information effectively. The selection of appropriate terminology was paramount to ensuring that the public understood the nature of the virus, the measures necessary to prevent its spread, and the overall health strategies implemented by the government. Henceforth, this study aims to identify the COVID-19 terminology used by the Albanian Health Authorities to describe the virus and to analyse the strategies employed in translating these terms from English into Albanian. The research focuses on the period from March 1, 2020, to July 27, 2020, which coincided with the global COVID-19 outbreak. 30 COVID-19-related terms in English and their Albanian equivalents were examined for this purpose. Data for this research was collected from two primary sources: the COVID-19 Terminology Collection from the European Union Terminology Database (IATE) and the Albanian equivalents obtained from news reports published by the healthcare authorities on the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Albania’s website. The study employed several theoretical frameworks to analyze the translation strategies. Vin and Darbelnet’s translation model, the sociolinguistic model, and the metaphor translation method were utilized to achieve the research objectives. Vin and Darbelnet’s model provided a structured approach to analyzing translation techniques, such as borrowing, calque, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence, and adaptation. The sociolinguistic model helped to understand how social and cultural factors influenced the choice of terminology and its reception by the public. The metaphor translation method was particularly relevant given the widespread use of metaphorical language in describing the pandemic and its effects. The findings offer insights into the most effective translation methods for accurately conveying selected COVID-19 terms in Albanian while preserving the intended stylistic essence of the original terms. The research emphasizes the importance of making controlled linguistic choices during translation rather than freely creating and adopting COVID-19 terminology for public use. Standardizing terminology is essential for clear and consistent communication, particularly during a public health crisis. The study highlights the potential risks of using inconsistent or poorly translated terms, which can lead to confusion, misinformation, and reduced public compliance with health guidelines. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the importance of making controlled linguistic choices during translation rather than freely creating and adopting COVID-19 terminology for public use
This article drew on the concrete experiences of teachers who have implemented interdisciplinary projects in two private Lebanese schools, to examine the benefits and difficulties that these teachers have encountered when engaging in interdisciplinary practices. Our sample consisted of a group of teachers from several subjects, teaching grade seven, in each school. We used two data collection instruments in each school: a logbook that each group of teachers in each of the two schools filled in, and a focus group that we conducted with these same teachers. The results highlighted the potential of interdisciplinarity to motivate teachers, and foster their mutual enrichment by enabling them to discuss their teaching practices and develop their reflective skills while offering them opportunities for pedagogical innovation and changes in their practices. However, our results revealed these teachers’ difficulties when implementing interdisciplinary projects. These difficulties are linked to the teachers’ disciplinary culture, their institutional contexts regarding school organization and the organization of official curricula, highlighting aspects specific to our Lebanese context. Difficulties related to the planning and evaluation of interdisciplinary projects and student management were also identified
