Investigating the Arabic /f/ Pronunciation: A Comparative Analysis of Acoustic Phonetics
Get PDFThis study aims to understand the mispronunciation of the consonant /f/ in Arabic by Javanese Speakers (JS), Sundanese Speakers (SS) and Batak Speakers (BS). The focus is on the sound /f/ as it can shift to /p/ when spoken by speakers of various L1 languages. Javanese, Sundanese, and Batak were chosen because of their prominence in Indonesia. Using a descriptive-evaluative-comparative approach, the researchers analyzed the pronunciation of /f/ by JS, SS, BS, contrasted with a native speaker (NS), Sheikh Misyari bin Rasyid Al-\u27Afasi. The research data was in the form of sound recordings of the recitation of nine verses of the Quran with the sound /f/, collected using the listen-record-pay-attention technique and analyzed acoustically through Praat. The findings reveal phonetic interference in pronouncing/f/ at the beginning, middle, and end of words by SS and BS. In JS, it only occurs at the beginning and the end. The absence of sound /f/ in the phonological system of local languages can cause this interference. The implication lies in learning to listen and speak Arabic, helping to design strategies to overcome pronunciation errors when encountering foreign sounds in the learner\u27s phonological system
Evaluation of Indonesian Education Loan Programs: An Overview of Challenges and Implications in Public Access
Get PDFThe growing demand for education and the increasing awareness of its value have also had an impact on the financing of higher education. Governments are working to meet the growing demand for sustainable higher education with better quality but with limited resources. Although many governments have launched student loan programs, the debate about the failure of student loan programs in developing countries is still unresolved. This study aims to collect and analyze articles related to the reasons why student loan programs are not more widely recognized in Indonesia by analyzing the implications of student loans. The method used in this study is a literature review by collecting various sources of articles related to the issues discussed. The results of the study show that there are many problems with student loans that are not widely known, such as irrelevant student loan policies, challenges in their application systems, and unrecoverable loans that eventually burden the community. Get PDFArtikel ini membahas tentang peran zakat dan pajak dalam konteks Indonesia. Dalam agama Islam, kepemilikan pribadi diakui, tetapi perolehan kekayaan secara ilegal dan amoral dilarang. Pajak di Indonesia adalah pungutan yang sah oleh negara, sementara zakat adalah kewajiban agama. Meskipun keduanya memiliki fungsi dalam distribusi pendapatan, tarif dan penggunaan zakat dan pajak berbeda, dan memiliki sumber otoritas yang berbeda pula. Di Indonesia, sebagai negara dengan mayoritas penduduknya muslim, penting untuk mempertimbangkan nilai-nilai agama dalam pembuatan hukum yang mencerminkan aspirasi masyarakat. Namun, pemahaman mengenai pengurangan pajak berdasarkan pembayaran zakat masih kurang. Regulasi ini seharusnya mendorong pembayaran zakat dan pajak secara bersamaan, tetapi belum memberikan hasil yang signifikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan dengan menggunakan sumber sekunder seperti buku, artikel, dan jurnal yang relevan. Metode analisis isi digunakan untuk menganalisis data dari penelitian kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa zakat memiliki tujuan sosial dan hanya ditujukan untuk delapan golongan yang ditetapkan dalam Alquran, sementara pajak digunakan untuk membiayai berbagai kebutuhan pemerintahan. Meskipun zakat dan pajak memiliki beberapa persamaan, termasuk tujuan kesejahteraan bersama, keduanya berbeda dalam penamaan, dasar hukum, dan sifat kewajiban. Pengurangan zakat dalam pembayaran pajak telah diatur dalam undang-undang di Indonesia. Namun, masih ada tantangan dalam implementasi regulasi ini, termasuk kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang hak-hak mereka dan prosedur pengurusannya. STUDI KONSEP SEDEKAH DAN INFAK DALAM DONASI PENGGEMAR KEPADA KONTEN KREATOR TIKTOK DALAM PERSPEKTIF HUKUM EKONOMI SYARIAH
Get PDFThis study discusses the concepts of sadaqah and infak in fan donations to TikTok content creators from the perspective of Islamic economic law. The purpose of this study is to determine the suitability of fan donations with the principles of sharia economic law, explain the concepts of alms and infak in Islam, and analyze the mechanism and method of fan donations in the TikTok monetization program. This research uses descriptive analysis method based on literature research. The results show that in TikTok\u27s monetization program, there are mechanisms and ways of fan donation that allow content creators to receive financial support. The Live Gifting feature allows fans to give virtual gifts to creators during live broadcasts, while the Creator Fund program allows creators to make money through advertising and content views. Sponsored content is also a source of income for creators through partnerships with brands or companies. Fan donations to content creators in TikTok can be in accordance with the principles of Islamic economic law if they fulfill the following: sincere intentions, financial limits, and good purposes. The concepts of sadaqah and infak in Islam can be applied in the context of fan donations, by ensuring sincere intentions, giving to those in need, and maintaining social justice. This research provides a deeper understanding of fan donations in the context of TikTok from the perspective of religion and Islamic law. The results of this study can serve as a guideline for creators and fans in making donations that are in accordance with the principles of Islamic economic law. In addition, this research also provides insight into the mechanisms and ways of fan donations in the TikTok monetization program, which can help creators in optimizing their earning potential

Poetry for EFL classroom: Students’ self-expression and the creative process behind its creation
Get PDFIn learning and teaching English as a foreign language, poetry has been used in several non-literary classes but in relatively small proportions, and the foci were mainly not on the students\u27 self-expression and individual creative process. This research aims to understand the experiences of student-teachers majoring in English in using poetry as a means of self-expression and their creative process. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach involving six student-teachers enrolled in the English Language Study Program of a Southern Yogyakarta University, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed through coding. The results show that poetry became a place for self-reflection, sharing personal experiences, a place for self-awareness, and freedom of expression. Meanwhile, the creative process that the students experienced consists of receiving examples, reliving memories, free writing, finding the right place and atmosphere, writing and re-writing, and receiving and responding to feedback. The study implied that poetry could benefit students with a planned and lengthy process. The study might contribute to the field of language education by providing insights into how poetry can be incorporated into the teaching and learning process
Combination of photos, definitions, and fill-in-the-blank tasks in Quizlet: a concern about learning academic vocabulary in online listening classes
Get PDFThe role of vocabulary has been proven to be crucial in learning both receptive and productive skills. However, in terms of listening skills, students may face enormous challenges in comprehending the content of a listening passage and, therefore, fail to take notes. This study aimed to investigate the impact of using Quizlet more creatively in the vocabulary section of online academic listening classes. Participants were 62 intermediate-level students from two online academic listening classes, divided into a control and an experimental group. While students in the control group did the tasks in their books or handouts from the teacher, those in the experimental group used Quizlet for eight weeks. A mixed method with t-tests and questionnaires was applied in this research. Results from t-tests revealed that students in the experimental group had better performance in remembering the definition of vocabulary they had learned and using correct vocabulary to fill in the blanks in sentences. Findings in questionnaires supported the improvement in the post-test that the students in the experimental group showed a high level of concentration, engagement, and excitement in class. The study\u27s outcome sheds light on further research on using Quizlet in EFL classrooms
Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Make A Match Terhadap Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Ipa Materi Ekosistem Pada Peserta Didik Kelas V SDN 15 Teluk Batang
Get PDFTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memaparkan hasil belajar pretest IPA materi ekosistem pada siswa kelas V SDN 15 Teluk Batang tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran Make A Match, dan untuk memaparkan pengaruh model pembelajaran Make A Match terhadap hasil belajar IPA materi ekosistem pada siswa kelas V SDN 15 Teluk Batang tahun pelajaran 2021/2022. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode pra experiment dengan desain one group pretest posttest design. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN 15 Teluk Batang yang terdiri dari 14 peserta didik. Data hasil penelitian diperoleh berdasarkan dari nilai pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan, maka peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa hasil pretest siswa pada materi ekosistem belum mencapai ketuntasan KKM dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 26,35, hasil belajar posttest siswa pada materi ekosistem sudah melebihi ketuntasan KKM dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 80,63, dan berdasarkan hasil uji t dari nilai pretest dan posttest makadiperoleh probabilitas dari t hitung sebesar 0,000 lebih kecil (<) dari t tabel yaitu 0,05, maka Ho ditolak dan Hɑ diterima. Hal ini dapat diartikan ada pengaruh model pembelajaran Make A Match terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas V SDN 15 Teluk Batang tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 sebesar 7,17 sesuai dengan perhitungan effect size
