Legal Frameworks and Bilateral Cooperation in Combating Human Trafficking on the Indonesia–Malaysia Border

    No full text
This research aims to examine human trafficking along the Indonesia–Malaysia border in Kalimantan and analyze how bilateral cooperation in border management addresses this issue. Using a qualitative descriptive approach within a normative legal framework, the study finds that human trafficking in Kalimantan is driven by several key factors, including geographic location, cultural ties, economic pressures, and government policies. Border areas such as Entikong, Aruk, and others are particularly vulnerable due to their proximity to Malaysia and strong cross-border ethnic connections. Economic factors, especially limited job opportunities in Kalimantan, push Indonesian migrant workers to seek employment in Malaysia, which offers better income and work options. Government policies, including ratification of international conventions and the establishment of a Task Force, face challenges in implementation. Effective handling of human trafficking requires strong cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia, including joint patrols, intelligence sharing, joint training programs, collaboration with NGOs, and the development of operational protocols to strengthen border management and protect vulnerable populations

    No full text
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the STEM-based Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model in enhancing elementary school students' understanding of science concepts. The research employed an experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group approach. The sample was selected through cluster random sampling. The research instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test designed to assess students' conceptual understanding of science, which was validated through tests of validity, reliability, item discrimination, and difficulty level. The results of the pretest homogeneity test confirmed that the initial abilities of both the experimental and control groups were equivalent, indicating that any observed differences in posttest scores could be attributed to the intervention. Further prerequisite testing showed that the posttest data were normally distributed and homogeneous, justifying the use of a parametric pooled-variance t-test. The analysis yielded a tcount of 5.38, which exceeded the ttable value of 1.99 at the 5% significance level, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H₀) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ). These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the STEM-based STAD model significantly improves students' conceptual understanding of science. Therefore, this instructional model can be considered an effective pedagogical strategy for enhancing the quality of science education in elementary schools

Centralized national development has created disparities between rural and urban areas in economic, social, legal, and institutional aspects. Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) serve as an important instrument for building rural economic independence and bridging these disparities. This study aims to analyze the role of company legal instruments in strengthening the institutionalization of BUMDes as public legal entities and local economic actors. The method used is a normative legal method with a legislative and conceptual approach. This study examines the integration of national legal norms, such as Law Number 3 of 2024 concerning Villages and Law Number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies, with local regulations such as Village Regulations. Corporate law principles strengthen BUMDes governance, accountability, and sustainability through contextual adoption. Although BUMDes are not limited liability companies, good companies governance principles are essential to ensure transparency, accountability, and legal certainty. BUMDes are also recognized as legal entities through Government Regulation Number 11 of 2021, which grants them equal standing with other business entities in contractual relationships. Company law provides a strategic foundation for BUMDes, ensuring legality and sustainability through integration of national norms and local policies to strengthen village economic self-reliance and development
