In her interview conducted on July 23, 1981 by Kris Major, Dorothy McKenzie describes how she came to the Yankee Fork area in 1940. She first stayed in a campground, Flat Rock Campground, and later lived in a log cabin with the rest of the mining camp. Dorothy describes living in the mining camp, catching fish and eventually living with electricity. She says that, "Life was heaven." They enjoyed living in the mountains. She describes her cooking and cleaning and visiting Boise. Dorothy tells stories of the miners and their jobs
