The certificates range in date from 1862 to 1958. Some of the most interesting and elaborate are those issued by various expositions, such as the Lewis and Clark Centennial, held in 1905. A few of the certificates, mostly diplomas and some fraternal organizations' certificates, are written in Latin. In these instances, an attempt was made to translate the material for the inventory.
