Cognitive Biases in Online Opinion Platforms: A Review and Mapping
Raising users’ awareness about cognitive biases in online platforms can result in better decisions. However, despite scholarly efforts to examine cognitive biases, there is still a lack of research that systematically analyzes, summarizes, and categorizes the current state of online cognitive biases. To this end, we conducted this systematic review by synthesizing the extant literature to reveal the current state of research on the prevalence and influence of online cognitive biases in the IS discipline. We described the mechanisms of the common cognitive biases, showed how they are studied, and mapped such biases in a six-level information processing model. Our findings from the mapping process revealed that the identified cognitive biases mapped in each of the six-level information processing models were not evenly distributed. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the differences among such biases in a theoretically convergent way. We suggest that future research can be conducted in a broader range of online platforms covering more cognitive bias type

Cultivating Independence: Transitional Programming Development at The Center for Living & Learning
The Center for Living & Learning is a residential and vocational mental health facility for individuals with persistent mental illness who cannot live independently. They have three levels of care on the property: 24-hour direct care, semi-independent living & independent living. This doctoral capstone project aims to partner with The Center for Living & Learning and develop transitional programming to support the cultivation of independence in residents who have the potential to transition to a less supported environment. Outcomes include a comprehensive 42-page care plan that outlines expectations for direct care, expectations for semi-independent living, how to bridge the gap as well as site specific assessment tools, interventions, handouts, activities, various resources and deliverables
Implementing Self-Regulation Practice and Handouts for Parents and Educators at Linden Waldorf School for the Neurodivergent Student Population
This doctoral capstone project was completed through a partnership with Linden Waldorf School in Nashville, TN. The invention, application, and advocacy of occupational therapy approaches for the neurodivergent student population were the main objectives of this research. This project aimed to empower Linden Waldorf educators and staff to more effectively address the needs of their kids by offering direct observations, educational presentations, and a range of educational resources on an assortment of neurodivergent deficits and diagnoses. Executive dysfunction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, difficulties with emotional regulation, autistic spectrum disorders, and anxiety are among the diagnoses and deficiencies discussed in this research. Additionally, a smaller project was initiated on fine motor activities to be implemented within the early childhood classrooms for pre-handwriting skills. The curriculum, instructional materials, and activities and/or worksheets to use with students in the classroom to support successful learning are all included in the resources made for Waldorf instructors that were uploaded to a Google Drive available to all staff members and parents as well as a physical copy that is located in the Director of Student Supports office
Nonviolence in the Nashville Civil Rights Movement
For my research, I am exploring nonviolent methods of protest and how it contributes to both peace building and social change in times of conflict. Particularly, the demonstrations performed by Nashville figures and students during the civil rights movement of the 1960’s. By studying specific figures such as Bernard Lafayette and also particular events like the drive-in theater sit-ins, I work to gain a clearer understanding of non-violence as both a philosophy and tactic and how it was used in Nashville

How Does Honey Make Gold Nanoparticles? Optical Analysis of the Effects of Temperature and Composition
In recent years, with an increasing interest in green chemistry, there has been an effort to find and understand synthesis methods using biologically-produced reducing and capping agents to produce stable gold nanoparticles (GNPs). Previous research using honey has shown this substance is a viable reducing agent in the formation of nanoparticles but have not looked at the stability of the colloidal gold nanoparticles. In this work, gold nanoparticles were reduced from an aqueous solution of gold chloroauric acid and a solution of varying concentrations of honey and water. The formation of NPs was analyzed using UV-Visible transmission spectroscopy to confirm the formation of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) between 500-600 nm. The results suggest that an optimum concentration of honey and higher temperatures can lead to more stable NP formation
Spotify Recommender using Content Filtering
This project is a music recommender system that analyzes Spotify data to establish relationships between songs by analyzing their musical components. A user can receive recommendations through two methods. Firstly, the user can select a song from the database that they enjoy, and the system will provide them with a list of recommendations, as well as predict the genre of the song that they have entered. Secondly, the user can set personalized values for various musical features (i.e. energy, danceability). In either case, by selecting a number 1 to 5 recommendations that the user would like, they will get that number of recommendations with the highest similarity based on musical features
