Common media server data (CMSD) - update on implementations and validation of key use cases
The CTA-5006 (Common Media Server Data, CMSD) specification establishes a uniform method for media servers to exchange data with each media object response. The aim is to enhance distribution efficiency, performance, and ultimately, the user experience. We provide an overview of CMSD implementations and focus on integrating CMSD into the dash.js reference player. Three use cases are evaluated to demonstrate the advantages of CMSD, including leveraging edge server throughput estimates to improve initial bitrate selection and low-latency live streaming, prefetching manifests and segments to improve startup delay, and allowing an edge server to suggest a playback bitrate to improve the collective experience. The outcomes from the initial implementations confirm the benefits of using CMSD
The role of emotion regulation and maternal symptoms in Turkish mothers’ caregiving helplessness during toddlerhood
To support mothers’ positive parenting practices and designing effective early interventions in developing countries like Turkey, understanding the factors associated with feelings of helplessness in caregiving can play an important role. Therefore, we explored how mothers’ depression and anxiety symptoms, and emotion regulation strategies of expressive suppression and cognitive reappraisal can contribute to caregiving helplessness during toddlerhood. We also examined whether depression and anxiety can mediate the relationship between emotion regulation strategies and caregiving helplessness. A sample of 552 healthy Turkish mothers (MAge = 32.11) with 1–4 year old healthy children (MAge = 1.51) replied to advertisements we shared face-to-face and filled out a pack of questionnaires including a demographic form, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Brief Symptom Inventory and Caregiving Helplessness Questionnaire. A series of path analysis were conducted to reveal the association between emotion regulation strategies (cognitive reappraisal and emotional suppression), depression and anxiety symptoms, and caregiving helplessness. After controlling for socio-economic status (SES), maternal anxiety but not maternal depression positively predicted caregiving helplessnes. Unlike cognitive reappraisal, expressive suppression positively predicted caregiving helplessness. SES had an indirect effect (via suppression) on caregiving helplessness on caregiving helplessness. In toddlerhood, maternal anxiety rather than depression, and expressive supression rather than cogntivie reappraisal could be potential risk factors for caregiving helplessness. Thus, these can be critical target areas for effective early interventions
Yeni evli kadınların benlik ayrımlaşma düzeylerinin, bağlanma stillerinin ve ilişkideki bağlanma davranışlarının romantik ilişki mutluluklarına etkisi
The aim of the present study was to investigate the direct and indirect contributions of differentiation of self, attachment styles, and attachment behaviors, on relationship happiness. The sample consisted of 194 Turkish women. Eligibility criteria included being a woman, being above the age of 25, being married for the first time and for a maximum of 5 years. The participation was online via Qualtrics. The survey set included demographic form, Differentiation of Self Inventory – Revised (DSI-R), Experiences in Close Relationships – Revised (ECRR), Brief Accessibility, Responsiveness, Engagement Scale (BARE) and Relationship Happiness Questionnaire (RHQ) (Işık & Bulduk, 2015; Saydam et al., 2020; Sümer, 2006; Tuterel-Kışlak, 2002). Bivariate correlations and path analysis were run to test the hypotheses. The serial mediation model revealed that DoS predicted attachment behaviors through attachment avoidance, and attachment avoidance predicted relationship happiness through attachment behaviors. Overall, the ability to self-regulate and to remain both autonomous and connected in intimate relationships decreased the individual's discomfort with intimacy, and in turn, enabled the person to remain accessible, responsive, and engaged with their partner, which in turn improved their relationship happiness. These findings suggest that the ability to self-regulate is a prerequisite for avoidantly attached individuals to be able to coregulate with their partners, which will in turn enhance their relationship happiness. Findings are discussed in light of the previous literature considering clinical implications, limitations and future directions.
Protection
Turkey has a highly complex structure with stratified legal statuses and multiple actors in migration and refugee governance. The chapter shows how temporality is the key encompassing characteristic of Turkey’s refugee governance, which is the basis for its response to Syrian mass migration and multilevel refugee governance. In this regard, the chapter asks how strategic temporality is used as a tool for international protection in Turkey and what the consequences are in terms of the legal, political and institutional frameworks at the macro level, as well as perceptions, experiences, and strategies of policy implementers and policy beneficiaries at both meso and micro levels
Centrality and connectivity analysis of the European airports: a weighted complex network approach
This study aims to reveal the structure of the European Airport Network (EAN) using concepts from complex network theory by utilising 2019 passenger data collected from Eurostat. Initially, the EAN was explored by computing connectivity and centrality measures and their correlations. The community structure of the EAN was also examined by modularity maximisation using the relatively new Leiden algorithm. When the network was compared with simulated models, it was observed that the EAN had small-world and scale-free properties. To measure the hub performance of the airports, their binary betweenness centrality was compared with a weighted betweenness measure employing the ratio of geographical distance to passenger traffic between the nodes. A significant difference was observed between the two centrality measures
Recently, battery project studies have been increasing worldwide. Companies carrying out these projects must have their products checked for design safety and must obtain test approval reports in order to release their products on the market. IEC 62133-2 test approvals are required for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, and EN 50604 test approvals are necessary for rechargeable li-ion batteries used in Light EV (electric vehicles). In addition, UN38.3(IEC 62281) battery transport tests must be applied for the transport of these batteries. These tests should be performed in an accredited laboratory, the safety of the design should be verified in this way, and then an accredited report should be issued to the product. There was no accredited laboratory in Turkey that performed tests in accordance with these standards. For this reason, companies were receiving services from overseas laboratories for the cell and battery approvals that they designed. There could be time and financial problems in overseas laboratories approvals. Due to these problems, an accredited laboratory was established at Vestel Electronics in Turkey, where tests can be carried out in accordance with IEC 62133-2, EN50604, and UN38.3 ( IEC 62281 ) standards. Since batteries contain BMS cards, their tests are also carried out in this laboratory. Within the scope of this accredited laboratory established in Turkey, it will be stated how the test setups that meet the test requirements are set up. Test results with these devices will be evaluated. The test results will belong to an E-bike battery project.
A compressor manufacturer producing in Kocaeli/Dilovasi region makes vehicle routing and employee planning daily to fulfill the maintenance and repair requests of the Marmara region and its surroundings the next day. The service types and times are agreed upon with the customer before service planning. The vehicles and their respective operators for a given planning day are known, with the service personnel's starting and ending points being the residences. All the planned services must be satisfied in the time windows customers give. We approach the issue as a multi-depot vehicle routing problem with time windows (MDVRPTW) and construct a mixed-integer linear programming framework. The solution is deemed adequate in resolving the company's service planning predicament. To tackle large instances, we formulate a clustering algorithm that yields a proficient solution in a concise duration.Publisher versio
Sorec: Self-organizing and resource efficient clustered blockchain network
With the emergence of Industry 4.0, the features of the technologies that are utilized in broad range of areas are obliged to change according to the new necessities. Especially, the network requirements have to be adopted accordingly in terms of efficiency, transparency, faster pay-outs and asset security. The blockchain technology promises to fulfill the requirements these key aspects of networking impose with the advantages it provides. However, the technology has certain limitations regarding its scalability and its transaction throughput rate. The advantages in security provided by blockchain comes at a cost in terms of scalability and transaction throughput rate. In this paper, a novel decentralized and distributed network architecture is presented. With its novel approach the proposed architecture aims to address these issues with network scalability and to provide an increased transaction throughput rate. Without introducing any centralization with its clusters, the proposed architecture allows the network to utilize its resources much more efficiently and effectively, which allows the participants to focus their efforts on mining, increasing the performance of the network. The architecture also proposes a novel communication handling promoting bulk communications and random workload distribution over the entire network to reduce the bottlenecking that occurs on the peers. A comparison to other state-of-the-art works, namely Bitcoin [1] and Community Clustering [2], is also presented in this paper. The comparison of the collected data shows that the proposed architecture in this paper is able to reduce the overall network latency and provide an increase in the transaction throughout of the network
Using different loss functions with YOLACT++ for real-time instance segmentation
In this paper, we study and analyze the performance of various loss functions on a recently proposed real-time instance segmentation algorithm, YOLACT++. In particular, we study the loss functions, including Huber Loss, Binary Cross Entropy (BCE), Mean Square Error (MSE), Log-Cosh-Dice Loss, and their various combinations within the YOLACT++ architecture. We demonstrate that we can use different loss functions from the default loss function (BCE) of YOLACT++ for improved real-time segmentation results. In our experiments, we show that a certain combination of two loss functions improves the segmentation performance of YOLACT++ in terms of the mean Average Precision (mAP) metric on Cigarettes dataset, when compared to its original loss function
Kesintiler altında stratejik küresel tedarik ağı planlaması
The effective management of disruptions in global supply chain networks has become a critical aspect of strategic decision-making, particularly owing to the increasing frequency of worldwide disasters. This study aims to research and identify strategies that supply chain managers can employ to mitigate the impact of disruptions on their supply chains. Specifically, we focus on strategic disruption planning for a global supply chain network, analyzing the consequences of multiple types of disruptions within a finite planning horizon segmented into discrete time periods. To address this, optimal decisions related to procurement, production, distribution, and demand satisfaction are determined using Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) models. These models are classified in two types: deterministic model, uses expected values, and stochastic model, which allows us to analyze the impact of various disruption scenarios. To ensure the realism of our approach, a performance comparison is conducted by incorporating a simulation approach on the best solutions, considering both deterministic and stochastic models. In addition, hypothesis testing is integrated to the simulation results to compare and identify the most cost-efficient model. This rigorous statistical analysis provides valuable insights into the relative performance of distinct models across diverse disruption scenarios. By providing insights into effective strategies for managing disruptions in global supply chain networks, this thesis makes a valuable contribution to the existing literature on supply chain management.Küresel tedarik zinciri ağlarında meydana gelen aksaklıkların etkin yönetimi, özellikle dünya çapında yaşanan felaketlerin artan sıklığı nedeniyle stratejik karar verme süreçlerinde kritik bir öneme sahip olmuştur.
