ANTECEDENTS OF KNOWLEDGE SHARING AND ITS IMPACT ON EMPLOYEES’ CREATIVITY AND WORK PERFORMANCE
This research aims to investigate and summarize thepredictors of knowledge sharing (KS) that can facilitate knowledge sharing practices among employees’ in the public sector universities.Research data were collected from 216 employees of public sector universities using the self-administrated questionnaires. It has found that employees switching, death and retirement negatively influenced on knowledge sharing practices in these universities. Moreover, a fear to lose reward, status quo, power, authority, recognition, influence, and psychological ownership are the major factors that can create barriers to KS practices. The results reveal that Knowledge Management (KM) culture, social networking and information technology were fostered knowledge sharing practices among employees. Conversely, knowledge sharing motivation was unable to promote knowledge sharing. There are scant studies conducted to construct and test the conceptual model in real context of knowledge hoarding behavior especially in the perspective of developing countries. These results are beneficial for policy makers and top managements of universities
Analytical Study of Teacher Educators’ Metaphors of Teaching
Teaching metaphor is an important phenomenon which can be used to determine teachers’ perceptions regarding their job and their workplace (Turunen, 2003). This study was aimed to explore the metaphors of junior and senior teacher educators to get insights of what teaching was for them. A comparative analysis between the junior and senior teacher educators helped to understand how these metaphors changed over time. Data for the qualitative study were collected from the districts of Sargodha, Khushab and Mianwali situated in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. Fifty teacher educators teaching at postgraduate level participated in the study and filled in the survey questionnaire. The data were coded and analysed qualitatively. Six themes emerged from the data: religious obligations, economic activities, nature compatibility, life processes, emotional affiliations, and thought provoking activities. These themes were compatible with Chen’s (2013) classification of teachers’ personal metaphors. The implications of metaphors could be used to enhance critical thinking of teacher educators to improve the quality of education
Academic Reading Strategies used by Leeds Metropolitan University Graduates: A Case Study
Academic reading is different from other forms of reading because it is complex and discipline-specific. It involves a measured, challenging, and multifaceted process in which students are dynamically engaged with a range of reading strategies. Academic reading improvement is possible, provided students work on it and there are no short cuts or remedies which will cure the reading problems. Reading improvement is hard work and a difficult task, but it is rewarding as well. This study examined the selection and use of academic reading strategies used by the undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at Leeds Metropolitan University, Headingley Campus, Leeds. A quantitative data study was carried out to investigate three aspects of academic reading strategies: (a) efficiency, (b) interacting with texts, and (c) critical reading strategies. The results of this survey suggest that the participants on balance have proficient reading skills, but a significant number of participants have ineffective reading strategies and bad reading habits. Recommendations and suggestions have been put forward to improve academic reading strategies and for further research
Catastrophic Effects of Floods on Environment and Health: Evidence from Pakistan
Torrential rains and floods have been causing irreplaceable losses to both human lives and environment in Pakistan. This loss has reached to an extent of assively aggrieved situation to reinstate life at operationally viable position. This paper unfolds the notion that only constructive paradigm shift to overcome this phenomenon is vital as a strategy. Multiple levels of observations and on-site assessment of various calamity-prone venues were considered to probe into this scenario. Some of the grave site in Sindh and Punjab were observed and necessarily practicable measures were recommended to avoid loss to human health and environment. The paper finds that a consistent drastic management authority on national level with appropriate caliber and forecasting expertise can reduce the damage to human life and environment to great extent. Weather forecasting system need to be installed at many appropriately observed cities and towns in the country with adequate man power, funds and technical recourses. By implementing the proper frame work of prevention and mitigation of floods country can save the major costs cleanup and recovery. These measures are expected to reduce operational cost of state in terms of GDP and GNP to restore life and environment

PAKISTAN BUSINESS REVIEW JAN 2016Research805T he Indian Wahabi Movement (1 82 6-18 71 ) . . .ResearchTHE INDIAN WAHABI MOVEMENT(1826-1871): APPROACHES TOITS STUDY AND ANALYSISSo far this movement, has been studied, analysed andinterpreted primarily from two viewpoints, the narrower and thebroader: any research work with its focus on the narrower perspectivenaturally possesses the merits and demerits of a micro study, butobviously deprives it of all the corresponding advantages anddisadvantages attributed to a macro level analysis, and vice versa.Besides the above two perspectives, the colonials, nationalists, political economists, radical historians, post-British era state-oriented writers, ‘subaltern’ historiographers, post-colonialnarrators, post-1947 Pakistani ideologues and Marxist scholars’narratives differ from each other, substantially, since they anlayseand interpret the same historical events and political movements fromwidely different perspectives
A CORPORATE IDENTITY PERSPECTIVE OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY; A NEW APPROACH TO BUILD CORPORATE IDENTITY
The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is generallybuilt around the notion of welfare and ‘giving back’ to society. Thisnotion needs to be investigated and researched with the perspectivethat CSR are strategic investments by corporations aimed at buildingtheir corporate image; which in the long run has a positive impact onboth financial and non-finance related aspects of organizations. Basedon this premise, this paper argues that CSR helps in building andcreating a Corporate Identity (CI) in a competitive society. Findingsthat CSR and CI have a deeper connection with each other aresubstantiated by employing the correlation and SEM tests. Two typesof non-probability sampling techniques were used for collecting data;self-selection and quota sampling. Findings of the study show thatCSR helps the projection of CI and this contributes to the financialhealth of a corporation in the long term, thus qualifying the notion thatCSR is a strategic investment that has a trickledown effect over aperiod of time
